  1. I've been playing with one of the 4" versions in the store and it is about the nicest feeling .45 I've handled. Feels identical in the hand to my 9mm fullsize. Not something many guns can claim. good choice.
  2. Thanks for coming in and no Glockmeister is not affiliated with D&T Arms. He is Goodletsville Gun shop. However, D&T does have RI as well as the American Classic's that IMO are a bit better than the RI for the money.
  3. D&T Arms has Blackhakw Serpa holsters that will fit the PD. They are a little long becasue they are meant for the fullsize Judge, but they do fit nicely. We also have Tagua leather belt holsters designed for the PD.
  4. +1. Their warranty is worth a lot and it is refinished and you know it is right. For another $100 + parts he will do the front end conversion and you're still under $800 for a extremely well built, lifetime warrantied, AK103 conversion. Fuller does excellent work, but he is also nearly always way backed up and charges a bit much for basic work. I found Will back in the day because I didn't want to wait 6+ months for basic front end work that cost twice as much. Not knocking Fuller, it's just I'd rather pay less for equal work that comes with a lifetime warranty and much quicker turnaround time. Sort of. You have to also move the front sight forward or get a FH that is drilled out (ie Dinzag Arms) to cover the extra shoulder of the Saiga. The Saiga's front sight is farther back then a standard AK even when it is threaded.
  5. Lot of top notch info in this thread! Bottom line is this , the legitimate complaints of the GP are weight and balance. Pro's are much cleaner and cooler. All the rest is hearsay, preference, and BS. The military will eventually use a GP system like everyone else, so pick whatever you like. Just don't feel the need to have the military's preference justify your choice.
  6. Saiga's are great. Just be sure to avoid Walmart value ammo. Saiga's are made to run hot Russian ammo and the cheap Walmart "Universal" stuff is incredibly inconsistent and underpowered. Read #4 Tromix Lead Delivery Systems
  7. You sound like you've worked in a gun store before! Mike, things have indeed changed a lot around TGO lately but it's just growing pains. Not all of it is good, it's just part of the process. I remember the first real growth pains early on and it was rather ugly around here for a little bit. A lot of folks disappeared until a medium of understanding was established. A lot of the new folks don't see the community aspect as much as many of us who have been here a while.
  8. Maybe you should make your tag line George Takei's "Oh my!"
  9. While it may be eye openeing to some, it is weighted to make a point. I have consistently lived below the poverty line (according to the government) at points in my life and never used assitance nor considered myself poor. Is it easy? No. Is it ideal? No. I have also worked two or three jobs and been creative with the other stuff. Does it leave little margin for error? Absolutley, just means you have to be on your toes and find a way. America is about FINDING a way. Not someone giving you a car to get there.
  10. As of 3:20 PM there has been 25741 guns sold in TN. Given that number you could sestimate around 3 million dollars a year.
  11. Your missing the point. The TICS fee IS a double tax. Same thing.
  12. I agree. I can also tell you that as of the last check we ran on Sunday there have been 25161 background checks run in TN. That's just since Jan. 1. That would equate to roughly over 3 million a year.
  13. So, you're good with paying our high sales tax (that makes up for the lack of income tax BTW) AND another tax on top of that for a free service? Interesting. BTW - the way you "make up" for an unconstitutional tax (income) is by spending less. Not inventing double taxation systems.
  14. It's a state by state issue. Every state uses the FBI's FREE check system but some states like TN have made it so that you have to pay TN to check the FREE FBI system. That's government!
  15. Most GP guns still utilize the buffer and springs. The best out there are LWRC and POF IMO. All the other manufactores are using Ares, Adams, or Osprey kits you can get aftermarket. The main thing is how the GP interfaces with the bolt carrier. The better ones take care of the tilt you get with GP, while the others just accept it and wear in places you don't want like the buffer tube threads ect.
  16. Much better looking than the Hogue grips. Nice!
  17. Tula, Monarch, Brown Bear, Silver Bear, Wolf, ect. all come out of one of the 4 Russian ammo factories. Wolf is the civilian ammo clearing house/exporting distributor of Russian ammo. It is essentially all the same with some minor differences. The only caveat to that is the Blue(?) box Monarch. It is brass cassed and made in Serbia. As to quality, i've never had any problems out of any of the AR's I have shot it through and especially none of the AK's. That being said I have heard of people who's AR's will not cycle it. The cause seems to be the fact that the steel case doesn't expand as well as brass and doesn't seal the chamber well enough. This allows some carbon to leak through and then the next case gets backed into the residue on subsequent shots and will not extract reliably. Again this isn't everybody but some have this problem.
  18. Check out Ken Lunde's page. GREAT photography Ken Lunde's 2011 SHOT Show Photos & Report
  19. Yeah, but where can you get one? The benefit of the S12 is the ability to quickly change mags or different purposes as well as being able to adjust the gas setting. Better than the 870 IMO. I can tell you first hand it's not fake.
  20. Love these guys. Will has worked on 3 AK's for me and is known in the industry as THE guy for Saiga to AK103/104 conversions. I do know they were working on my gun while they were filming, so I'm hoping to maybe see it on TV! Sweet!
  21. I didn't imply the M&P or anything else was superior. There are some features that are better. Some that are not. I like the features of the XD the most, but i don't like a high bore axis, so I don't have them anymore. I've had at least one of just about everything out there and there is a reason I keep switching. I also have had at one time or another and XD, M&P, CZ, Ruger, S&W and several other manufacutures avatars. I do like that Glock is finally addressing the main issue that some of us hated about Glocks, the grip. Anyway, I guess I did intend to wrinkle the Glock lovers panties so I'll leave it alone. For the OP's intentions the Glock is a great gun. I wouldn't hesitate having another G19 at some point.
  22. I don't dislike them. I 've had 3 of them. I just don't like Glock lovers. Outside of politicians people they are about the most unreasonably biased people around! Hahaha!
  23. Funny how you guys talk about how reliable they are in conjunction with how easy they are to fix and how available after market parts are. Just sayin! (tongue in cheke fella's) They are simple, but there are many like the M&P and XD that are even easier to dissasemble.... and saferto boot.
  24. also 21 to legally buy a handgun.
  25. Welcome back James. Glad to hear you're OK. Give me a call sometime or come by D&T Arms and we can catch up a bit.
