Was I sleeping?   I saw a Marlin 1894 .357 lever in decent shape (albiet tapped) in the classified section going for what I thought was a crazy price, but it instantly got replies.   I then looked on GB and saw that these levers in VG condition were commanding well in excess of $1K (as in $1200-1500). Crazy thing is that the .44 Mag ones are selling in the $600 range which is half of the .357 models.   This of course made me go directly to my safe and pull my 1894 JC barreled (built in 1981) out for closer exam. It has maybe 25 rds through it and has a couple of tiny dings in the wood, while the bluing is pristine as is the barrel and sling.   I got the rifle many years ago and it just sits in the safe now.   Now I have to ask myself, do I sell it and put the money towards another custom pistol?   Anyone care to expound on the price jump?

    So basically, you don't want to pony up for even a 6 mth membership in order that you can post in the correct place (WTB/WTS/etc) and this is a way of skirting around it.   I can see a thread about what to buy, but you crossed the line when you ask what people here may have for sale.   Real smooth.

What is the deal with all the dragonflies this year? Millions of them for the past couple of weeks. Never seen this many, so it's a little weird.

That's the exact Valor I just picked up. SERIOUSLY thinking about having DW build me the same gun, but this time in 38 Super!   BTW, for a steel framed gun, it's balance is superb. Doesn't feel like it weighs 35 ounces.

  Having had several DW already, I picked up the Vbob with the expectation of it being a very nice fit and finish, smooth action pistol just like my other models. What I received was a super high fit and finish pistol that is easily on par with Baer or Brown, as I said before. The extra $400 over a "normal" model is well worth the price of admission.       There have been issues with some SS versions. I imagine that DW is doing their research to figure out why. Personally, I think it could be the source of the metal is doing something a bit different in their metal mixture than other mfg's are. So when the material gets hot, it wants to re-attach itself to the part it rubs against. There is also talk of the cause being using improper lubrication such as Hoppes, Break Free CLP and the like. Note that there are NO issues whatsoever with guns treated with the duty coat.       Yes, BUT, the quality it leap years ahead of Pre-CZ guns. Even more so since they had a huge fire a couple years ago. All machinery is new and state of the art, and all parts are now made in house and there are NO cast pieces used. Even the semi custom guys can't make that claim.  

I know you already ordered one, but I would just add this......... As someone who has owned many 1911's for many years, there is no better value in the high end production arena, period.   Are they as good as Wilson or Guncrafter? No, but they also don't sell for $3K+ Are they as nice as the lower end semi customs(ie:Baer)? If you compare the Valor to any Baer or Brown, I would absolutely take the Valor. I actually picked up a Vbob Duty Coat couple weeks ago for a good price with the intention of it being a catch and release. Guess what? It's not getting released, it's a keeper.   Are the "standard" level DW's better than anything Colt or Springfield puts out? Absolfreakinlutely.   You will love it.   And BTW, name me one other major brand manufacturer that if you have an issue or concern, you can call or email the VP of the company and get very quick (most times instant) answer right from the source?

  :pleased:     I guess I should have made it a point in the OP to say my travel time usually involved  a day out as I live in the sticks, but I guess the thing I don't get is if a person lives 2 hrs away and the seller meets halfway, it is only a total investment of 2 hrs for the buyer.   But in this latest attempt to offer a good deal and in other previous ones, the prospective buyer says "well, driving 45 minutes just isn't going to work for me, why can't you come to me?" And yes, I have had people say that.   Now obviously, some people put different values on time, but if someone has something I want at a really good price, and I have to invest a total of an hour and a half, my only question is "when can we meet?"

  I understand your point with my particular case and agree. Most times if I make a 2 hr trip, I make a day out of it (with my wife spending even more while shopping) :squint:    I am speaking about buyers who are say 1.5 hrs away. So if said buyer travels half that the distance, total time invested is 1.5 hrs and maybe $20 in fuel. While we would all love to say 1.5 hrs of our time is worth $200, I sincerely doubt many actually can make $133 an hr. :rofl:

OK, so how much is your free time worth? If you see a weapon you have wanted a lot, or even one you have thought about getting if the price is right. Would you not take a couple of hours out of your free time to acquire it?

OK folks, answer me this.......... If you are looking for a used or purchased but unfired gun, how far will you drive to get a good deal?   For arguments sake, let's assume the deal saves you at least 20% off what a new store bought (purchase price/tax/TICS) or an online purchase (purchase/shipping/transfer/TICS) on an as new/excellent weapon.   Personally, I will and have driven 2+ hrs many times.   Reason I ask is that lately, I have made the observation that people are unwilling to drove even an hour to meet halfway between seller and buyer or even expect the seller to basically give door to door delivery. (Note that this does not include folks who for family reasons can't travel or folks that simply don't get time off to travel). Am I wrong in thinking that if a buyer wants the deal, he at least needs to put forth an effort?

Don't know who GT is, but if I saw a bunch of pretty decent shaped S&W 65-xx for $250 a pop, there would be none left.

As a S&W lover/collector I am with the factory on their assessment. Clean it and shoot it.   A Model 15 no dash in mint condition is a $550-600 gun at best. They are not really collectable and to restore that one, if even possible with all the pitting would cost 3x that.

Finally figured out that if I kept clicking until the playlist shows, it will then transfer. Going to drag and drop using WMP Sync instead as it is a little easier.

I know there's some tech savvy folks here, of which I am not one. :-\   Set up Windows to rip my store bought music CD's in MP3 format and store on my computer. (WMP>Rip>MP3 Format) It shows the albums and cover art in My Music as files. When I go to drag & drop the albums into either a thumb drive or Micro SD card (both new), it transfers as "XYZ Artist shortcut". It shows as items, but not as a file, so I can't play the removable storage in any computer or vehicles because it really didn't transfer any music. WTF?

Since you said he doesn't practice, I would have to agree. But, it is not all that hard to do. I don't shoot nearly as much as I used to, but I took my 80yr old uncle out on my home range the other day. (he did really well for not shooting in many years) Anyway's, I set a 22LR box on a post and easily blasted a hole (center left) with a S&W AR 15-22 with open sights and hole (corner right) with a Buckmark at 100yds

      It's definitely OK to kill a native snake if you don't "take" it from the wild (as in, go into the woods looking, trapping, etc.) as far as I know. Again, personally all non-venomous snakes are fine with me, but in the past 6 mths, I have had a Copperhead right near the house and one INSIDE of my shop (as in, WTF is that in the corner?). Too many dogs, cows, people around here to let them be. The one near the house instantly lost his head. The one in the shop was taken outside and given 2 chances to get into a field, but both times it wanted to get right back in the shop and got pissy about it. Didn't end well for the snake.

  It is not illegal to kill a native snake IF not taken from the wild. You can not possess, harm, kill a native snake that is taken from the wild. If the OP had killed those snakes, it would not be illegal. Mot saying he should have, just that it wouldn't be illegal.   All snakes have free roam of my property, except venomous snakes. They will lose their head.   Now the idiot killing hawks on the other hand should be reported.

  Exactly what I thought when I heard of the plan to build. Last time I checked, a major metropolitan downtown is not exactly conducive to fishing, shooting, etc.   Add to it the hotel whose LOWEST rate is $295 a night and you have a recipe for an empty Pyramid yet again in short order.   The city of Memphis invested huge money into this place for what purpose?  I would love to hear the thoughts of the people who made this decision.   All I see is another Bass Pro store (and thy ain't that great to begin with) except this one is in a ridiculous location.

Couple of things.....   Buy as big as you can afford. What you think will work (and for $1K it's probably pretty small), will likely be outgrown in short order.   Do NOT even think about buying a Cannon. Their customer service is abysmal at best and non existent at worst. Literally told the head of CS to F himself after many attempts on my part to be accommodating.

If the county is dry, how are they getting around that? You are paying for the booze via the $10 fee, same as you would be paying in a store/bar.   Are they saying the free tour is somehow different than the $10 tour other than the booze?
