1. Lol my thoughts exactly
2.
Are you doing these as fundraisers for a local group? We're trying to come up with a fundraiser for our group and thought we might check into what's involved and what the potential payback would be.
Yes sir, we actually organized it through our church, so all workers were volunteers. We charged $5 per round for the ham rounds and $3 per for the turkey rounds, first sign up sheet to fill up is the round we would shoot first. I'm not sure ours would be a good gauge as far as profitability goes because we served hot dogs and hamburgers that hardly no one bought, so we ate a lot of that money. I can say with confidence though that it would be worth your time and effort as a fundraiser. I forgot to mention we also had a long shot at 100ft that we judged by counting the number of pellets inside the center ring. Sold those shots for $3 per and we kept a running tally of it, declaring the winner at the end of the day. Not to brag, but as far as operationally running well ours went the smoothest of any I've ever been to so I'd be more than happy to share any info I can to help out
3.
Trying to decide if I want to build the upper or buy one... I don't want to end up with a really out of timed bolt release or be over gassed.
Adjustable gas block and/or heavy buffer. Honestly I think you're doing a lot of worrying over not a lot of matter. I've heard that cheaper barrels tend to have a little bigger gas port than more expensive, higher quality barrels. I can't verify that personally but I can say that the gas port on my pistol barrel is larger than a couple of my other barrels, whatever that means
4. Well if you are skiddish about the law, build it as a pistol, then you can go wherever you please
5. Your question has been answered already, and I'll concur. Your lower is a receiver, nothing more and nothing less. AR pistols are a hoot for sure. Here's mine
6.
What are the general rules these days and how are they scored?
In most I've been to, and at the one we hosted, closest pellet to center wins. We had traditional rounds (75ft, our shell and no stands or props) and open (80ft, your shell, and rests were allowed). Tie either goes to a shoot off or next closest pellet. Don't care too much for the open rounds since you end up with several that have the center completely blown out.
7. Me and my dad go to almost the shoots in Columbia and Santa Fe. We actually had one in Mt. Pleasant last Saturday. Had a good turnout, shot 20 rounds with 12 people in each round. We felt good about it since it was a rainy day. I'll find out when the next one is in Columbia and I'll update this
8. Good thread and great info, I'm glad you started it. I too have been trying to educate myself on the AK. I want one to add to the collection something awful, but financially right now I'm having to try and work out trade deals
9. I would love to see someone draw from one of those jackets under stress.
10. I'd love to be able to go pick some up. I'd go grab a few $75 gift cards from Wally World and have at it. I would be afraid of receiving stolen goods though.

Build or Buy?

For me, with the options I enjoy (free float tubes, Magpul items and such) it's cheaper to build. Now if I were in your position and wanted a "bare bones" rifle, I'd just buy it. I enjoy building as well because it gets me familiar with every single part of my AR's, like others have said it may come in handy someday.
12. Dear God don't post this anywhere else, I'd hate to have a panic set in and idiots start buying up all the lowers that are just now finally becoming readily available again. I agree with those above, it won't go anywhere. Ole Waxman must have just learned that there's some of us that actually build our own...Quick! Make a law banning that! Sheesh
13. I'm interested in a lower, possible upper as well depending on price. Anyone care to PM me prices and FFL locations you're going to use?
14. We've got it, and love it. For those of you that didn't like the Internet speed, do you know what package you had/have? If I remember right, different packages come with slightly different speeds....don't quote me on that, I'm not a "tech" type person, my better half handles that business

glock 19 gen 4

While I realize your Glock comments were made in jest, I truly LOL when a 1911 fanboy (or any other company/model for that model) rambles on about how "I don't do Tupperware". Kills me that some folks can't appreciate both. The 1911 was the best gun at one point, just the same way as smoke signals were the best way of communication at one point. I kid I kid, congrats on the purchase
16. This. Half the time I couldn't concentrate on what he was trying to say for seeing all the misspellings.
17. I'm not even going to comment on the direction this thread is headed, as it has risen my blood pressure already. What I will say is Troy has lost my business. Two of my AR's run their handguards. While I can't say I'm going to rip them off of those guns and start over, I will say I get a sick feeling when I pick them up now. It may just come to me replacing them with a company's that doesn't suck at the tit of government
18. I have dang near all their music. I'm not a metal fan per se, but there are some days where it just fits my mood. Good stuff
19. I know this isn't exactly what you're talking about, but here's something to consider if you have the money. If it can use 870 accessories, Mesa Tactical makes an adapter so that you can use a AR15 grip/buffer tube/stock. What I'm seeing people do is run a hydraulic buffer instead of the normal buffer tube (if I'm not mistaken it is actually the tube assembly acting as the buffer). I can't imagine recoil being an issue when hydraulics are involved. Here's a mossberg that they used the parts mentioned on, not mine
20. I'm running the Primary Arms red dot and mount on my pistol. It's not an Aimpoint, but it works well. Hope you enjoy your new toy man, I enjoy mine but I've been thinking about selling the upper and building a 14.5" upper with pinned brake for it.
21. I did not know this, wish I had though. Dirty bastards, indeed
22. Well their website doesn't show live inventory, so what said "in stock" when I ordered, really wasn't. No big deal, cancelled my order several days later after never receiving a tracking number or any notification that it wasn't actually in stock. So I figured I'd give them another shot. This time before I order I call to make sure what I'm about to buy is actually in stock, ready to ship. When I got a person on the phone they told me yes, that in fact the item was in stock. So I place my order. Yet again I never received a tracking number or anything, well over a week passed, I'd say closer to 10 days. So yet again I give them a call only to get someone on the phone that told me that the product hadn't been in stock even when I placed my order and they didn't know why the other person told me it was. Just seemed like an operation where the right hand had no idea what the left was doing. To some it wouldn't be a big deal at all, but I like to spend my money with businesses that have it together
23. I've had bad experiences with botach, I hope yours is better. That really is a great price on that mount
24. Question I need answered is why do I just keep buying more?!
25. I LOL'd
