Simple, the gun is backwards
-
I've never had a problem with it in any of my ARs. I'm kinda with those above me, dirty chamber possibly? I'll gladly take the remaining off your hands! Hehe
Not a lot I can do with the polymer FCG's but if you go to steel I can help you out.
Yeah it's just a steel FCG. I saw where they sell complete lowers with polymer parts, always seemed kinda janky to me. No offense of course to anyone that runs them, just not my thing.
-
So say if I were to use that polymer lower strictly for the 22lr upper, you might help a brother out? With compensation, of course

Got my rattle can fix and no i'm not into huffing paint.

Got ya, I was hoping maybe you used Aervoe since that's what I'm going to use in a couple weeks. Looks good man! -
If you already have the lower covered, you're probably better off going with a dedicated upper.
I tend to buy 2 or 3 at a time if I order, that way I save on shipping/transfer/background check monies. Actually only gave around $40 for this polymer lower, so even if I spend $400 on an upper, I'll still feel alright about it
I don't have one, but from what I've found, you can buy a S&W M&P 15-22 for about the same money, or less in many cases. The Wal-Mart in Springfield has had an ample supply of them for about $450. That is the route I plan on taking.
I've been eyeballing this one http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/CMMG_M4LEP_22_LR_16_inch_Upper_w_Receiver_Height_p/cmmg-11055-22b7c16.htmI see your point, the 15-22 would be a lot better training wise that my kel-tec, it more closely mimics the AR controls. I've just got a polymer lower that's sitting around with a LPK already installed I thought might be perfect for this. I also kinda look at it like if I decided to sell just a lower, it'd be very easy to store just an upper, at least much more so than an entire rifle I tried a conversion kit, but I just didn't really care for it personally Thank you sir! I don't need 1 moa accuracy per se, but it's good to know they're plenty accurate enough. I've got a 10/22 with quite a bit of work done that I'd consider a bench rifle for all the super accurate stuff. I know these uppers are spring operated instead of gas, I guess they put the gas blocks on to install a from BUIS?
-
I'm contemplating selling my kel-tec 22lr rifle (actually taking some quality shots of it today to post) and simply replacing it with a 22lr upper to go on one of my several lowers. Typically, I like to build every piece of my uppers, but for this I've been just thinking about going with a complete upper. I know CMMG makes a good conversion kit, but I don't know much about them as a company other than that. So share your stories, what brand you have and what you like about it, help spend my money!

Did you use clear over it? If not I'd suggest the krylon "ultra flat" clear (I believe is the name) just for a little extra insurance. What paint did you use on it? -

I think it would prove to be more of a chore than a help, I could be wrong though

That's kinda what I thought, or all I could figure anyway.
Also, take into account for the handguard retainer. The gas block should not sit flush against the barrel shoulder because of this. The handguard retainer is .040" thick so the gas block will sit .040" farther back if you do not take that into account. 10 sheets of paper is about the right thickness. You will need to center it both side to side and front to back.
Alright, I've built several AR's, and I do mean several....but that term is new to me, handguard retainer I mean. What you're referring to only applies to non free floats correct? Like GI M4 handguards? That's all I can think of, since all I've ever used are free float handguards. I will reinforce your point though, the gas block should not ever sit against the shoulder of the barrel
-
I use a scale (think precise ruler for machinists). Measure from the center of the hole in the gas block to the end of the gas block. Then take that measurement and use it to go from the center of the hole in the barrel out however far it was, mark it with a pencil. I then take the scale and put the edge over half the hole in the barrel and draw a straight line back to the other mark I made. I also draw a line up the side of the gas block that is a indicator for where the hole is in the gas block. Now you have a line that indicates where both holes are (gas block and barrel) and a line that tells you where your gas block should stop. Sounds involved and complicated, but I promise it's not, just hard to put into words. Pretty fool proof if you do it this way

Ain't it though? Thank ya sir! We have some different ones with us all holding the weapons, just groomsmen with our edc's, things like that. I wanted to do an "all AR" picture but decided to use some of my other guns at the last minute for variety. -
Not sure if this is the right spot for this, but here it is This is just a lower res teaser that we got back, but I had to share. We had several interesting/firearms related pictures that I'll update this with as they come back. There's a couple other tngo members in the picture, so it's doubly cool

Its done. Kerry signed UN Arms Treaty.

I really hate to be "that guy" and I hate to have this attitude...but I keep my weapons loaded, and clean for good reason. I can't say for sure that they won't be successful in getting this ratified. I wouldn't believe they could, but then again I would've never believed we would be here as a nation either. I do my part, I write and call my representatives. I support conservatives at every turn with all my means. I'm just worn out from the constant attack on my civil liberties. I honestly don't know how much longer there will be a peaceful option to keep our rights. -
It's over gassed man. Heavy buffer, maybe even a 9mm buffer. I'd take it down and put an adjustable gas block on personally
-
Honestly, I'd love it if it were several shades darker, more like an OD. I do like the contrast of the grips and the color though. Looks like you did a very good job on er
-
No fault in that at all, I respect it. Don't think I was trying to give you any grief. I did quite a bit of reading as well before I built my first pistol

The grounds we used was our local lions club. We shot towards a tree line with a field on the other side about 200 yards in length. I'm not sure what the absolute safe distance would be, but I'd think that as long as you were clear 100 yards in the shooting direction you'd be good
