1. I'll give you a class, a couple of your buddies too if you wish. I only charge $250 ;). In all seriousness, I'm no expert, but I have yet to come across an AR I couldn't build/fix and I've had zero "proper" training. I watched YouTube, read forums, and learned through experience. I'm not discrediting the course but I promise you there are better ways to learn your way around the platform and better ways to spend $450. Yet again, in all seriousness, I'm willing to bet if you set a day up to offer food and good drink....there'd be plenty of knowledgeable tngo members show up to help

SBR?????

Very jealous. Congrats man!
3. I name all my AR's "Barry". To the point I don't call them AR's. I'll tell my wife to hand me the "Barry pistol" when talking about my 7.5" AR. I think we all know who they're named after. I get joy every time I go to the range knowing he cringes each time I pull the trigger
4. I'll kinda echo what everyone else said, it depends on what type of shooting you do. Honestly, I think a 1-4x is the best of both worlds, but if you go that route be sure to get quality glass because you want a scope that is good on both ends of the spectrum. Red dots are for quicker acquisition of your target , all depends on your preferences
5. Can I make a suggestion? I believe there needs to be links posted to help a would be buyer instead of a long lists of websites. Just a thought. Like this for a $80 BCG from PSA... http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/upper-parts/bolt-carrier-groups/8620-bolt-carrier-group.html
6. I'll amen this, especially their "blem" uppers. I've gotten several from there for $50, the only thing that classified them as a blem was the fact they didn't get stamped with the PSA logo. I've never received one that I would consider an actual blem, and I'm rather picky. FWIW, this quad rail is super sturdy, light, and made in the U.S. I ordered one a few weeks back and I'm really impressed. I have $200 Troy rails that I'm not as impressed with per dollar spent. Before you say it, no it's not for airsoft http://www.opticsplanet.com/leapers-utg-pro-model-4-15-rifle-length-free-float-quad-rail-system-mtu006.html
7. I'm not sure what exactly you're asking by "end". Maybe say it a different way?
8. As stated above, my RRA pistol tube doesn't use a nut, it's ran fine with no loosening. No worries
9. Makes me wish I was closer, I'd love to check it out.
10. I don't know if any of you are in the healthcare field, but as somebody that is...I'm here to tell you this is what's happening. The people that will suffer are the patients (which is everyone at one point or another). I'm not saying that some of these multi millionaire CEO's of healthcare companies didn't need to tighten the belt a little, but the cuts being made are ridiculous. Of course there's some CEO's that will cut jobs simply to pad their own pockets and just blame it on the ACA. It's the same logic Democrats use with the debt ceiling and wanting to raise it. Somehow they think cutting jobs of nurses/doctors/whatever is to save money is the way to give better care, it just doesn't make sense. Companies are laying off like crazy because they no longer will get reimbursement for some services provided.
11. Simple, the gun is backwards
12. I've never had a problem with it in any of my ARs. I'm kinda with those above me, dirty chamber possibly? I'll gladly take the remaining off your hands! Hehe
13.
Not a lot I can do with the polymer FCG's but if you go to steel I can help you out.
Yeah it's just a steel FCG. I saw where they sell complete lowers with polymer parts, always seemed kinda janky to me. No offense of course to anyone that runs them, just not my thing.
14. So say if I were to use that polymer lower strictly for the 22lr upper, you might help a brother out? With compensation, of course
15. Got ya, I was hoping maybe you used Aervoe since that's what I'm going to use in a couple weeks. Looks good man!
16.
If you already have the lower covered, you're probably better off going with a dedicated upper.
I tend to buy 2 or 3 at a time if I order, that way I save on shipping/transfer/background check monies. Actually only gave around $40 for this polymer lower, so even if I spend $400 on an upper, I'll still feel alright about it
17.
I don't have one, but from what I've found, you can buy a S&W M&P 15-22 for about the same money, or less in many cases. The Wal-Mart in Springfield has had an ample supply of them for about $450. That is the route I plan on taking.
I've been eyeballing this one http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/CMMG_M4LEP_22_LR_16_inch_Upper_w_Receiver_Height_p/cmmg-11055-22b7c16.htmI see your point, the 15-22 would be a lot better training wise that my kel-tec, it more closely mimics the AR controls. I've just got a polymer lower that's sitting around with a LPK already installed I thought might be perfect for this. I also kinda look at it like if I decided to sell just a lower, it'd be very easy to store just an upper, at least much more so than an entire rifle I tried a conversion kit, but I just didn't really care for it personally Thank you sir! I don't need 1 moa accuracy per se, but it's good to know they're plenty accurate enough. I've got a 10/22 with quite a bit of work done that I'd consider a bench rifle for all the super accurate stuff. I know these uppers are spring operated instead of gas, I guess they put the gas blocks on to install a from BUIS?
18. I'm contemplating selling my kel-tec 22lr rifle (actually taking some quality shots of it today to post) and simply replacing it with a 22lr upper to go on one of my several lowers. Typically, I like to build every piece of my uppers, but for this I've been just thinking about going with a complete upper. I know CMMG makes a good conversion kit, but I don't know much about them as a company other than that. So share your stories, what brand you have and what you like about it, help spend my money!
19. Did you use clear over it? If not I'd suggest the krylon "ultra flat" clear (I believe is the name) just for a little extra insurance. What paint did you use on it?
20. I think it would prove to be more of a chore than a help, I could be wrong though
21. That's kinda what I thought, or all I could figure anyway.
22.
Also, take into account for the handguard retainer. The gas block should not sit flush against the barrel shoulder because of this. The handguard retainer is .040" thick so the gas block will sit .040" farther back if you do not take that into account. 10 sheets of paper is about the right thickness. You will need to center it both side to side and front to back.
Alright, I've built several AR's, and I do mean several....but that term is new to me, handguard retainer I mean. What you're referring to only applies to non free floats correct? Like GI M4 handguards? That's all I can think of, since all I've ever used are free float handguards. I will reinforce your point though, the gas block should not ever sit against the shoulder of the barrel
