My Primary Arms microdot arrived today. I'm really impressed so far. I don't have anything to compare it to but I can tell when I'm holding something that's high quality. I'll report back after I zero it in this weekend.
What mount did you get?

I think the highest it got today in Columbia was 14, with pretty significant winds. Piss on this weather I say

Is it hard to find 9mm ammo these days?
KKing replied to jaymc75's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
If you limit yourself to only looking in store, I'm sure it can be. I never have much trouble around the Cool Springs area at Academy, and I've scored at least a couple thousand online at good prices. I think the days are gone of just walking into your LGS and find a good selection -
Rained for a couple hours, now it's been snowing/sleeting for about an hour
You have to love our government, looks like a shotgun, shoots shotgun shells only, but no stock, so not a shot gun, a firearm.
Yep, basically. Same government that makes you pay a $200 tax to have a barrel on a rifle that you own shorter than 16". Because a shorter barrel makes it more deadly, right? :eyeroll:
If you buy a shotgun that left the factory with a pistol grip it is not considered a "shotgun", it is considered a "firearm". The reason is a shotgun's definition requires it to have a shoulder stock or be capable of being shoulder fired. So when the shotgun does not meet the definition of a shotgun then it becomes a "firearm". And because it is a "firearm" and not a shotgun there are no barrel length requirements, only an overall length requirement which is 26" or more. So if you buy a shotgun that had a pistol grip from the factory you can have any length barrel you want so long as the overall length is at least 26". There are opinion letters from the ATF stating a sample shotgun they were sent with a 17" barrel is perfectly legal because it was at least 26". I have also seen people get approval, without registering as an AOW, guns with a 12" barrel because the stock they used came far enough back to meet the 26" overall length. The ATF also adds to their opinion letter regarding this that if a person is caught with it concealed on their person it would meet the definition of an AOW and a person could be charged with illegal possession of a NFA item. I am really thinking a virgin AK receiver could be used to build a nice "firearm" using a Saiga 12 as a donor. Because the receiver is so long you could install a pistol AR buffer tube at the rear and end up with a ~12" barrel. And the best part is it would be completely legal so long as the overall length was 26". Imagine a Saiga 12 with a 12" barrel and a 20+ round magazine. You could probably use the buffer tube to carry extra ammo too. Another great thing about a "firearm" vs a "pistol" is you can attach a forward grip to a "firearm" but not to a "pistol". For example, this is NOT a NFA AOW: It is just a "firearm", not a shotgun, because it is 26" or more long. And you can legally add a forward grip.
Great info, I didn't want to get into specifics since I figure there's no way the OP gun makes the 26" mark. Also a pretty neat idea for the virgin AK receiver...

I admit I'm like that with some of my guns, just not carry weapons. I have Glocks that appear as though they've been in a small battle

Only one word comes to mind....discomfort

Saw that on FB earlier. At first I laughed...then I kinda had an oh crap moment...lol

I actually needed to make a Walmart run today for a couple of things we need. That can wait, I'll not be competing with the "sky is falling" crowd
I will say that it was freezing out there today. And in all I think I sighted in 3 AR's, 3 bolt guns, and a 742 carbine. The PA red dot was easy to dial in with postive clicks that made adjustment a snap. The 3 MOA dot was easy to see when turned up to around 9, out of 11, even in the bright sun with snow on the ground. It held a good zero at 50 yds, was clearly labeled for adjustment and worked well even when stepped out to 150 yds. It seemed very overbuilt for the price, and had zero issues all day. I look forward to Jeffs long term review, but I think its a winner, especially for the money.Tapatalk ate my spelling.
Awesome, glad everything went well for you guys. I was out shooting today as well (and listening to my dad moan about how cold it was lol).
And taking them for non specific reason is overall a very bad idea. They don't work like vitamins in any way, and certainly don't build up your "resistance" to anything over time. Indeed, you're just training bacteria to adapt and resist them. Overuse of antibiotics as a nation is the reason we have the super duper killer strep and staph and whatnot strains that have evolved. And as tnguy says, have zero effect on any virus. - OS
As someone in healthcare, I wish I could like this 10 times.

I'm not gonna lie, as bad that I hate it's a .380, it sure excites me there may be a 9mm soon

While I don't have that particular model, I do have 4 different PA optics, they're good to go. Only issue I've had is with their house brand AR riser for the micro dot. The bolt that goes through the rail slot that gets tightened is about 1/8th thick, and apparently of cheap steel. I've broken 2 trying to snug them up, so they just sent me an upgraded QD mount on their dime. Good folks

So This Is What the Liberal Version of the NRA Looks Like
KKing replied to ironsniper1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Good for them for potentially learning how to defend their life. But I'm sorry, you could put liberal in front of a anything and I'd be turned away. "Liberal big boobies" even sounds bad to me -
have not read a post really. Now how many of you think the "gay" Robertson crap was happenstance? Follow the money, These down to earth people are all about something. not so sure it is the bible, but I am sure they follow the color of green
You sure are a cynical fella, you know that?

Has to be because he's black. Wait, is that racist? It works whenever liberals use it as the reason why we don't like him, can't it work in reverse?
I looked at grip safety and or thumb safety from another side of the coin. Someone is fighting with me over a gun and he wins the gun, if he/she doesn't see or know how these safeties work, I may have time to get my backup gun and win the confrontation.
Valid counterpoint, but you've put yourself behind the curve on any other incidence that isn't like the one you described Wow, we derailed this train. To get back to the trail, like I said before, I'll definitely give this gun a fair shake. Especially since Glock is never going to release a single stack
Guess I'm missing something here, I wouldn't want to draw and fire a weapon in self-defense without first having a firm and proper grip (control of) on the weapon. To me a properly fit and functioning grip safety is a non issue.
So you contend that while someone is actively trying to kill you i.e. stab you, beat you, shoot you....you'll have the means to make sure you have the proper grip? Or are you more likely to make sure the projectile is pointed at the threat and pull the trigger? I'm not arguing, but let's not fool ourselves. You can't really train to draw while you're getting your skull crushed. Hard to say what you'd do for sure
-
Again. Not being obtuse. But how hard is it to hold the pistol enough to activate the grip safety? If I don't have that much control over the pistol, do I need to be able/trying to fire it?
It's just another factor to add into the equation. On my carry weapons I draw, and pull the trigger. I don't have to worry about if I have enough pressure on the backstrap while someone is beating me over the head until they see brains (think Zimmerman I guess). Many people only picture having to use their carry weapon under ideal situations, I just believe less processes to think about is less that can go wrong. I've heard the question posed "Would you have the ability to take that safety off while someone is trying to stab you with a knife?" Most would not, and most would not have the means to ensure a truly proper grip. Murphy's law to me Most don't think twice about manual safeties, it's just a personal thing
