I support the 2nd Amendment and discourage open carry in public. Hate all you want, I just think it's a bad idea. Do I think it should be illegal? Nope. People that open carry and speak angrily about it probably aren't going to help the cause of gun rights.
Please elaborate on how you "discourage" it

If that's what they'll go for, color me surprised and ready for the 9mm
Well, I'm very vocal (at least on forums) when I see someone open carrying and it causes a problem because those who do OC that results in a problem are, I believe, hurting all of us even if that wasn't their intention. As was eloquently pointed out earlier that I'll paraphrase; all thins may be legal but not all things are appropriate.. ;)
So what about those that don't cause a problem while OC'ing?
What exactly does someone have to do to "stand up for our (your) rights? If standing up for your rights mean that I have to hold the same opinion about open carry as you have then it isn't going to happen.
I don't think you have to carry the same opinion at all. Like I said, I just think the finger pointing and naysaying is more harmful to the greater good. I'm not saying you've done that personally, but those who do only create a divide.
I don't want open made illegal. If it ever is, it will be because of somebody doing it wrong.
I agree, and I believe those that are in the "but" crowd will only hurt the matter. There's a lot of things I don't "like" when it comes to rights. Freedom of religion...I guess you could say I don't like it because I believe the Muslim religion is dangerous to the core, but I support freedom of religion regardless. I wish more could see past their "feelings" and stand up for our rights before it truly is too late

I think in my semi drunken rage I should have clarified better. I'm by no means advocating carrying past postings, or giving law enforcement any flack if questioned. Laws are laws, and as much as I may not like some of them...I follow them and suggest everyone else do the same. I'm just tired of the judgement and bickering from those that can't see that by condemning someone who open carries lawfully, you're as bad as the idiot who tries to get into an altercation with LEO's for the camera. Both are detrimental to the cause, IMO. I'm also not talking about those who choose to open carry AR's in public. While I support those who can legally do so, regardless if it frightens the sheeples, I equate this to carrying a handgun around in your hand. I know it's not the same thing, but I know there's a higher level of fear that comes with it.

"I support the second amendment but..." "I think we should have the right to carry but I don't think you should open carry, open carrying is asking for trouble" To these folks, I say screw you and the horse you rode in on. I'm tired of "2A supporters" who generalize everyone who open carries simply because it isn't your style. No, everyone who open carries isn't looking for attention anymore than a person that wears a wrist watch opposed to a pocket watch is looking for attention. Are there exceptions? Of course. Like with anything, there will be exceptions. But damn you if you can claim yourself to be a second amendment supporter then talk down about open carrying. I do it on occasion, simply because it's much more comfortable. If you don't like to open carry, don't. It's very simple how that works. I'm tired if those naysayers who are far too afraid of spooking the sheep to open carry, so they point fingers at those who do. I may not like the way you do things, but I'll support your right to do it , and I'll stand against anyone that tries to take that away. If you can't say the same then please, stop claiming to fight the same fight I'm sorry, but as a firearms community, we have to do better. I personally don't care if you wear your firearm on the side of your head with a custom pink leather holster, I'll support your right to do so. I may think you're a bit goofy, but I'm still beside you. This isn't a concealed vs. open carry argument. This is a standing up for OUR rights argument, there's no room for us to be divided, there's no room for "buts". I see it far too often from supposed "2A supporters", even on this board. If any of this made any sense, good. If not, then I apologize. I was in full rage mode after reading some comments about an open carrier being hassled by an idiot leo and yes, I feel better now
-
I don't have much to add (I think my feelings are well known) but I did get a good kick out of one of the comments. "I wouldn't piss in his mouth if his head was on fire" I know that's bad, but it gave me a giggle. Mutual feelings, me and that guy have
-
You think the story is crazy, just read the comments. I swear in the first ten comments this was already being blamed on the NRA and gun nuts. It's almost amusing how blind/brainwashed people are
And what can cause the gun to go from being fine to over gassed? Going from fine to under gassed is pretty easy to do but fine to a point where there is too much gas is pretty hard to do.
Exactly. If it was a new build/new gun I could see it. But with the low round count there's no way the gas port on the barrel has eroded, just makes more sense for it to be under gassed

Just got out from seeing it. Needless to say I've been very quiet on the ride home. Great movie

The article didn't surprise me much, there's nutbags everywhere. What surprised me...there was more than one other nutbag that agreed with her! BTW, you guys speak for yourself, I'm a virgin. I told my wife I'm waiting for the right one, heh

KKing replied to Dustbuster's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Good on the LEO's for handling it they way they did. No, I don't have any hostility towards the guy for doing what the constitution allows him to do. I wouldn't do it simply because I never want attention drawn to me, but I certainly have no ill will against this guy for it. I mean calling him scum, really? -
Damn. That's all

I agree with Dolomite, it's gas. I know your friend looked at it, but you need to inspect your gas block (it's right in front of the handguard). See if you can tell how it's attached. Look for bolt heads or a pin that could be driven through the lower portion of it running from side to side. Grab onto it with your hand and see if you can wiggle it. It's possible that it's shifted over time and it will feel like it's tight at first touch until you put some pressure on it It sure sounds like it's off center causing the gun to be under gassed, which is why the carrier isn't going back far enough to pick up the next round. Just as an FYI, this is what a properly staked gas key looks like if you take your bolt carrier out The sides of the carrier have been punched over on top of the bolts so that they can't back out and become loose. That's why we asked if yours is staked correctly

I guess I'd have more to say if I actually knew what in the hellfire he was saying/talking about. In that video he reminds me of Mister T. "I pity the fool!"
I am going broke. Between college, rifles, and cars. I need to find a cheaper hobby and beat the crap out of my friend who introduced me to firearms... I swear, I must have spend about $11k on cars and guns alone in the past five months. Good thing I am divorced now otherwise I might be typing this from the beyond.
This speaks volumes about why I love building AR's so much. If I want or need to, I can stretch the build out over a long period of time. $100 a month for a few months will get you most of an AR

I've had 3. Had a problem with one where the buffer retainer hole was too small and actually had to send it back for replacement. I haven't had any trouble out of the replacement they sent or the assembled one I'm currently using for my pistol. My answer would depend on the price. Some blem PSA lowers now are around $50, for that little difference I'd go aluminum
