1. I think you're on the right track with that link. I've ran the Noveske pig on a few builds and it seemed to work well, as should the one you linked. I've heard good things about the Kaw Valley Precision unit as well. As far as concussion, with the flaming pig on the end of my 7.5" I couldn't tell a big difference while I was behind the gun, and people to your sides won't either. There is a big decibel difference the shorter the barrel gets though, at least in my experience. I wouldn't make a big deal of it, really
2. I've sold a couple myself, but never on craigslist. For example right now I'm sitting on a $150 one to Sperry's (nice steak place) that one of the MDs I work with got me and the wife back at Christmas. Haven't used it, likely never will. I might end up selling it off just to get some free cash
3. Yeah you'd definitely have to watch your P's and Q's on what you bought (we should anyway) but I really would like to save some guns from a buy back one day. Like OS, I would think you'd have more fuss out of the local LEO's
4.
Someone said he others went to this gun buy back today, and were told by local police that the ATF would arrest them for buying guns that were originally headed to the buy back program
I'm just stupid enough I might have made them show me. Yeah, stupid

6. I've never been asked. Everyone in our family and extended family knows I carry, my wife carries, and my dad carries. Many of them carry as well. I guess I'm lucky, I've never had anyone I've come in contact question why I carry. I guess my answer would have to be something to the tune of "if I'm forced to choose between my life or the life of someone that wishes to do me harm, I'll choose to live every time. Even if that means he dies"
I want to stay with a pump (fewer involuntarily moving parts the less room for something to go wrong) and I'd like to stay as close to 12 gauge as possible.
I'm sorry, but your thinking is flawed. There is more for YOU to do under stress, therefore there are MORE chances of something to go wrong. You believe that under stress you'll have the composure to make sure you don't short stroke that action? Or better yet, that your wife will? I'm not trying to talk down to you at all, but if that statement is your premise for choosing a home defense weapon, it's flawed. Shotguns can be great weapons, but realize what you're getting into One of the better posts in this thread IMO. If you need to consider penetration (close neighbors, or whatever) look into using an AR for home defense. Shotgun rounds like those being discussed here will absolutely take care of the bad guy, and 10 layers or whatever is on the other side of him. To me, the AR is more easily maneuvered, less steps required to get bullet to bad guy, multiple rounds on tap, and a .223 round will not over penetrate as much as most 9mm loads in testing I've seen

So you'll still be able to get your color fix.
I hope this is the case and they aren't getting out of the color game altogether
9. Yeah....because I can't count the number of times I've looked at my Glocks and thought...what can I do to make them harder to use?!?
10.
Oh, that was an incorrect assumption on my part... Outdoor shooting would be great with this sight, only thing is for skeet, etc, sighting instead of point shooting may actually slow you down... Plus it will sit higher than you can see with a proper cheek weld. My guess is this was meant for pistols, the relief through the lens has a sweet spot at arms length.
Got ya, I see your point. With my raised comb Magpul stock I wouldn't worry as much about the cheek weld, but I'd say you're right on about it slowing you down on skeet and such. Well, there goes that. I wish it had different mounting options, it might be fun to mount to a range pistol.
11.
Based on my experience just now, dry clearing my house with no lights on, this sight would be a terrible choice on a home-defense weapon... IMHO.
Sorry...I didn't mean to mislead. I don't use my 870 for home defense. It's more birds, clays, and water jugs lol. I've been looking at the micro dots, this just seems like a possible better option
12. Those of you that get them in please share all you can, I'd really be interested in putting this on the 870

AR Novice

Read. Read read read as much as you can. I don't mean that in a negative way, I just mean there is mounds upon mounds of info on the AR platform, even on this site, for someone that wanted to learn. But, to answer your question of where to start I think it's most important that you answer the question of whether you want to build or buy. Right now is a great time to buy an AR and I know about once every couple weeks there will be specials that pop up for a $410ish carbine. Now, that's without any whiz-bang gadgetry, and it's a polymer lower, but you'd have a great place to start and learn the platform. Right now (to me) if you're building an AR it's because you want to, not really for cost effectiveness. I build all of mine because I'm a goober that loves to tinker, but if I were just getting started I'd be snatching up one of those great deals I mentioned and start shooting instead of waiting for parts to come in. If you just want the experience and pride that comes with building one, then by all means I encourage you to do so To your second point: AR's come in two halves; an upper and lower. The upper is the top portion that has your barrel attached and houses your bolt carrier group and charging handle, the lower is the portion that contains your fire control group and is what is considered the actual "firearm". Once you have your complete lower, whether you build or buy it, it's easy to buy an upper assembly that utilizes a different caliber. 300 blackout, for example, can be dropped onto a standard lower and it can utilize the same 223/5.56 magazine. AR's can be built in several different calibers, that's only one example. Whatever you decide to do, if you're really interested in AR's there's a lot of info out there to be read since it's such a popular platform, much more than can be contained in this thread alone.
14. I carry constantly. If I'm outside my house, I'm carrying. At work, I have to restrict my carry to my backpack that stays in my desk due to my activity. Inside my home I don't "carry" on my person but I keep a firearm beside me on the end table.
15. I'll second the Ethridge/Lawrenceburg area. Everything from fresh vegetables, to hand made furniture, to leather craftsman, if they don't do it their neighbor does. Very large community of them, most I've dealt with are very friendly and the work they do can't be beat
16.
Can anyone tell me which round is more lethal ? 45 or .40 or 22lr at point blank? And which would one carry to a no cake for you festival??! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 of course it ate my spelling.
Personally, I think it depends on whether or not you turn the pistol to the side when you fire.
17. I believe the 50bmg to be far superior to 9mm. Bigger holes and all, you know. I don't like to shoot twice
18. If he backs out, I'll take it
19. No, most do not agree with you, just as our forefathers didn't. Any law, written by a liberal (as you state you'd "compromise" on) or otherwise that impedes the right to bear arms of the American people, is unconstitutional. There are no "with a permit" or "with training" words after "The right to keep and bear arms" Yes, by bearing arms, they meant to carry and use. Do I personally wish everyone trained more, including myself, for defensive purposes? Sure I do. Do I think that should be a deciding factor in wether or not they can carry a gun for protection? Absolutely not
20. Yes please
21. I saw that posted on fb. The one lady's willingness to roll over and die is appalling
22. Not gonna lie, I'll tune in
23. Seeing it tonight for the first time on tapatalk. It's in both my "unread" and "participated" lists
24. We have an LCP my wife carries pretty regularly and I carry on occasion. To say it's not my favorite would be an understatement. The wife handles it just fine. I suppose my hands are a little big or something, but the beaver tail absolutely wears my lowest thumb knuckle out. I despise shooting the thing. I guess for what it is it's pretty good, but I won't act like I don't have constant thoughts of selling it
25. Small needle nose pliers, I've never had a problem
