1. I'm sorry but I must point out the elephant in the thread. You know your scope mount is backwards right?
  2. Figured I'd update this for anyone that actually wondered about my Wally World federal 100 round bulk .223 problem. It was in fact that ammo. It was driving me nuts so I went out and put over 100 rounds of various ammo through that weapon with zero trouble. I didn't have any steel case to throw in the comparison but I can say for sure that this stuff, at least the box we got, is weak
  3. I love my ipad, guess I'm going on my 3rd year with it. I have the ipad 2 and love the size of the screen. My parents have the mini and it, to me, is no better than having an iPhone
  4.
I always insist on a phone call, if they will not call I will not meet. Then I write the number on my palm as I am going to meet. And before I get out I drive by their car and write down the license plate on my hand as well. And I ALWAYS carry a firearm and so does the person who is with me. As far as he meeting place I use Walmart. Walmart has more cameras than probably any other place on earth and they are everywhere.
Pretty much this. I don't let people come to my house, and I dang sure will never be caught meeting someone at theirs. I've done several deals with different TGO members and they've all been great deals, and great guys. But...it never fails when I have something in the classifieds I'll get a PM from a member with 1 post, or zero posts. I'm sorry, not happening. You may be a great fella, and there may be people on here with numerous posts that are up to no good, but I like seeing some posts from the person I'm dealing with beforehand
  5. Strange for sure. If I had some Tula or wolf on hand that might be the true test, haven't shot any in a while, gas block could've shifted or something. Oh well, guess I just have to shoot some more! Back on track now...
  6.
My results, was testing diff tween velocity from 16" and 10.5" barrels, 3 shot average: Monarch 55gr .223: Rifle: 2929 Pistol: 2611 Wolf WPA 55gr 223: Rifle: 2872 Pistol: 2546 Tula 55gr .223: Rifle: 2843 Pistol: 2612 Federal Bulk 55gr .223: Rifle: 2840 Pistol: 2536 - OS
Hmm, that's odd, not a whole lot off from wolf WPA and Tula, maybe I just got a weak batch, or I could possibly have a gas problem trying to rear it's ugly head
  7. Since OS mentioned the federal 223 bulk being slower on the chrono, has anyone else noticed it being completely anemic? My dad bought some that we shot today and it felt weak to my shoulder, wouldn't reliably lock back the bolt, heck half the time it wouldn't push the carrier back far enough to pick up the next round. This is in a carbine that I've never had trouble out of and feeds everything including Tula and Wolf. Just found it weird. I don't even have a heavy buffer in that gun. Shot around 60 rounds of Wolf gold after that with no problems at all. I've had trouble with some of the Russian stuff not locking the bolt back on guns before, but never this many problems

    KAHR 45
Bet you didnt know you can buy this for under 400 bucks OTD........ I ordered one this week they seem to average 340-350 bucks at LGS,I know of no other 45ACP for this price and its made in the USA...has 6+1 cap and one of the best triggers I ever shot less than 1 inch thick I find it hard to beat .....Range report to follow
I'm a Kahr fan for sure. It amazes me that I see people on Facebook groups and whatnot trying to sell them for $450-$500, I just don't understand. The Kahr I owned is the only pistol I've ever had besides my current Glocks that never malfunctioned on me during the ~700 rounds I had on it. Hope you enjoy her!
  9. I've given up the hope of it returning to "normal", can't even say I really care anymore. My reasoning is this: 1) I'm still able to buy 500 round bricks for $50 or so and could do so probably twice a week availability wise if I desired. It's out there 2) Even at 10-12 cents per round it's at least half cheaper than my 9mm weapons, and at least 1/3 cheaper than my .223 I'm not going to pay more than what I've listed for it because there's simply no need, I've found plenty in that range. I still get to shoot. Shooting is my biggest hobby, and my favorite. If I can shoot my 22lr weapons at 1/2 and 1/3 the prices of my others, I will continue to do so. I'm not going to let the stress of gouges, resellers, and so forth outweigh the relief I get from shooting. Do prices of rimfire suck compared to what they were? Absolutely. Ammo manufacturers don't care if you get your ammo or if joe smo buys and resells it. In the end, they're getting their money either way. The only way they would start to care is if distributors had to return their stock to the manufacturers because they couldn't sell it. That will NEVER happen. I hate to speak in absolutes, but I can promise you it won't. I know that the 22lr situation is rough, and I'm not going to make any new fiends from this post, but I'm tired of trying to find "solutions" and so on. If you see a scalper selling his wares for double the price somewhere, report him or do whatever you see is necessary. But for me I'll continue to buy when I can, at the best prices I can find on these here interwebz, and continue to plink, train, and enjoy my hobby. As always, YMMV
  10. I do have to add that on the flip side, they had the best price on federal 9mm I've seen in a while. Got 3 of the 100 round deals myself. Around .25/per. Couldn't even find that good of a deal on steel case shipped around the webs
  11.
I've even found some ammo to be cheaper at Academy as well. Add to that the fact that Wally instituted a stupid one box PERIOD limit... I haven't bought ammo there in awhile!
Really? On all ammo? The one here still limits 22lr, but nothing else
  12.
... on Russian steel ammo. Both .223 and 7.62x39 Tulammo are over .30/round. Can beat that online by 5 to 7.5 cents per round delivered. Wasn't long ago it was the opposite. That is all, over and out. - OS
Right there with ya. 100 round federal .223 is $40 and change. After taxes I can get Wolf Gold shipped for a couple bucks cheaper and I actually prefer the Wolf.
  13.
Been looking for a decent holster for my newly aquired G34 IDPA gun and not having much luck. Well I say that, every holster I strapped on felt like I had a shoe box stuck on my hip! So I ordered the stuff and this is what I have so far. Still need some cleanup and polishing the edges but I think I'm gonna like it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd pay good money for that, and by that I mean it looks great. If you don't mind me asking, about how much do you have in it? Time excluded, of course. I've got one I really like for the range in coyote tan but considering what I paid for it I'd like to try and make a black one myself. ETA: picture of the coyote one I'd like to semi-replicate, only picture I have
  14.
Women have purses and us guys have holsters. At least it's like that with my wife and me. She has a crap load of purses and never seems to find the right one. The same goes with me. I have went through a ton of holsters and I am now narrowing it down to a few. This is getting expensive and it's got to stop  Who here also suffers from this infliction ? Here are my holsters I may keep but you never know :snore:
Finally a support group I fit in with. Most of the ones I own I've only used once or twice, enough to see they weren't for me. I don't have a count right now, but I know it's over 10. A lot of mine were just on sale at the time or something, I guess I haven't convinced myself that even though it's on sale, it still costs money. By the way tercel, do you like your alien gear holsters as much as I do?
  15. Wow, very cool. Good on the school as well. Definitely something to be proud of man!
  16.
Sure. My future bride and I had just rented a house together. One Saturday we'd been doing the party thing all day that 20 year olds do. About 9 that evening there's a knock at the door. She opens the door and 3 guys in ski masks rush in. Guy in front is a skinny little f^(% with some sort of piddly little automatic pistol. Probably some POS .25. Guy behind him has a single barrel shotgun. No idea what's going on with the guy in back. I came into the room and the guy in front says something like "where is it?". Well, being the 25 year old testosterone filled jackass I was at the time I head straight to the guy in front and proceed to grab handful of scraggly red beard and yank it out of his face. He pops off a round into the floor and I'm so damn drunk I just keep charging the three of them. They turn tail and run out the front door with me behind. After they disappear I walked across the street to the gas station and used the payphone to call the cops. It seems that the cops believed the previous tenants had been dealing a little pot. True story. I guess the lord does watch over fools.
Wow, thanks for sharing. I'm glad it ended the way it did and not much worse. To the OP, and to echo what others have said...unless there's people up on that higher floor that I'm charged with protecting (kids, wife, so on) there's no way I'm going up those stairs. I understand he may have had to positively I.D. that there were actual intruders to make a 911 call and not a squirrel, but for me personally I would have been waiting in a safe place for them to funnel down that stairwell. He got lucky, very lucky that all he had was a concussion. I won't address wether or not he should've shot the intruder in the back because I don't believe I have to, I believe the confrontation should've happened on a smarter front. But, I also know it's easy to armchair quarterback, and not so easy to think when under that type of situational adrenaline and stress
  17. Good for you guys that can get it at that price, did they have a limit?
  18. Cookville? Figures it would be over an hour from me
  19. If you read the last point under technical specs, it tells you
  20.
Savage for sure. I personally own a Remington 700 in .223, and I wish I'd gone with a Savage... not that Savage would be any better, overall, but it's at least equivalent, for much much less money.
I will have to add the caveat with my suggestion. If the extra $200 or so won't hurt you, I'd go with the Savage too. The MVP can be had for under $600, so naturally it won't be quite as refined as the Savage
  21. I personally like the mossberg MVP. It has several variants and barrel lengths, and it takes AR magazines. I've got mags-a-plenty so it's a big selling point to me.
  22.
Yep. And the vast majority of those rifles will never be shot anywhere near enough to show any appreciable parts wear or breakage from being overgassed, so it's just easier for the manufacturers to err on the side of caution. And to be honest, most of the parts that are going to wear/break because of the overgassing are cheap and easy to replace anyway.
Not to reinforce your point, but on a different tangent... most of those rifles will be bought by people who will never know they're overgassed. People that think the hard recoil is "normal". Probably 90% of all AR's out there aren't tuned like they should be. Yeah, it bothers me
  23.
You'd probably never be over gassed w a stock AR until u start making changes
I was going to correct this, but Dolo beat me. Also, the vast majority of barrels I've seen on the "budget" ($200 or so) end of things have largely oversized gas holes for the same reason. So even if you build, be careful
  24.
Are there any negatives with having an over gased gun besides it being dirty ? Would it cause the action and bolt to slam against the gun harder and hurt it ?
Yes, over time it will wear parts faster. Think of it as beating itself up.
  25.
This came across my Facebook feed a while back and may have already been shared here, but it's relevant to this thread...
