If it won't lock back with the gas block all the way open the way I see it you have a couple of options. 1) Drill out the gas port as suggested *best option 2) Cut a half coil off of your buffer spring at a time until it locks back. I know cowitnessing may not be a big factor for you, but if you're like me cheek weld is. The Midwest industries handguard and optic specific top covers were the only option I could find to get a good cheek weld, and a bonus is cowitness, or at least being able to use irons through the optic. With a regular railed top cover the optic was too high for me to get a decent cheek weld. This is on a Saiga, but same concept. No magazine restriction is correct. I've read up quite a bit on the subject since I hunt with an AR occasionally myself. I am limited to factory loads so I use the federal fusion 62gr soft point.
