  1. Oh believe me, my fun money is coming with me! Never wrestled a rhino, did fight a bear once though ;)
  2. Is that SBR'd AR10 coming? I just need to know so I can bring a bag to "borrow" it from you.
  3. I clicked that I'm going. Need to round up some friends. I'll keep tabs with the fb page
  4. If I could find a barrel in stock I would go ahead and get one. I think I'll go with Faxon, I've used several of their barrels as of late and have been really impressed. Looks like no one makes a 14.5" 7.62 barrel so I guess I'll just have to use one of those icky 16" barrels.
  5. Magpul MOE SL
  6. Semi auto doesn't come into play for deer hunting, I don't need it for that. It does, however, come into play when hunting hogs. Also, it's just plain what I want. When I buy another bolt action, it won't likely be a sub $1,000 gun by the time I'm finished. Not that I have money like crazy, but if I were going to do it, it would be right. I don't really buy "hunting guns", I build and buy guns I can enjoy and in this case hunting with it is a bonus. The only reason I mention the kid being born in May is because building an AR10 would be around $1,500-$1,700. I can build an entire 7.62x39 gun for well under a grand. AR10 can wait until next year.
  7. Past 2x magnification you can't see a front sight. You can't even see a flip up BUIS past 2x. Anywho. If you truly want a free float rail your procedure needs to go as follows. Remove flash hider, remove gas block, remove handguard, remove delta ring and spring. At this point, if you are using a rail that utilizes the stock barrel nut you're good, if not you need to take the barrel nut off. Then install the barrel nut that comes with your rail, then gas block, then flash hider. Now, you can get rails that drop in to the existing delta ring and save yourself some work such as the UTG pro drop in that's just over 12" long and will cover your gas block. All you would have to do is change the handguard itself out. These aren't truly "free float" rails, but they will achieve the look you want. From your posts I can tell you're new to this so I'm going to try to explain about your gas system. Your gas tube length is determined by your barrel, not your handguard. Your barrel has a gas port drilled in it and aside from welding that hole up and drilling a new one in a different location, your gas port will always remain right where it is. So no, you will never buy a new gas tube unless you successfully shoot enough to rot that one away.
  8. Not sure why you changed the gas block for a scope, but here goes. Do you want an actual free float rail or a 2 piece rail that uses your existing delta ring?
  9. Need pictures for assessment. We wander off all over the place if not
  10. In all seriousness, I would absolutely love to get in an MMA ring with someone like him. See how I fair against a master super ultra fantastic grand ninja.
  11. Road trip! I'm in
  12. I'll take "multiple ways to get yourself killed" for 100 Alex.
  13. This is exactly what I wanted to hear. I already planned on getting an extended firing pin and quality bolt. Likely get an extra power hammer spring as well just in case. The subsonic aspect in a 30 caliber isn't important to me at all, at least not in this weapon. All I want in this gun is something I can take hunting to keep from taking a 223, and I love the added benefit of being able to shoot it cheaply. If I can get a x39 upper to run reliably I'm in.i went ahead and ordered some of the CPD mags, worst case scenario I can sell them. I think I'll end up going with the Green Mountain barrel just as you did. Thanks man
  14. Ok, serious question. I'm on the "company" FB page watching videos and my face hurts from grinning. But when breaking boards and such, should they really break that cleanly? I mean, I've dealt with wood some, and never really seen any break in a perfectly straight, clean line.
  15. Behold. In all its glory. http://www.blackbelts.us/busat/ ETA: you found him
  16. Wow. Good news is he's in Cleveland, TN for those of you that want to drink from his fount of knowledge
  17. You sir are my hero! Thanks for giving me a tiny bit of hope
  18. Agreed on the mutant. Unfortunately at it's price tag I guess I would have to go 308 in an AR10. I'm not really in love with 7.62 but I thought if I were to build a 30 caliber upper I would enjoy the added benefit of shooting it cheaply. Who knows. I suppose there's always import bans to think about with cheap commie ammo. I do love a challenge and cheap ammo, so I'm pretty torn That looks like pure fun to me!
  19. Just honestly don't care for them, at all actually. My Saiga in 223 has less rounds through it per year than any of my weapons, don't know if it's the ergos or what.
  20. Been through it with 300BLK, we started seeing other people. I shoot what most people would say is between a $hit load and a f-ton. I don't let guns sit around that don't get shot, it bothers me. That's why me and 300BLK had to break up. I do hear ya on the fun of the subsonics, but I have one in 22lr for suppressor fun.
  21. Won't really count it out, although you are right on price. I just thought if I could get the added benefit of shooting cheaply it would rock. I've been hunting with 223. While I've taken deer with it, I honestly would just like more punch.
  22. Specifically PSA stuff? I'm at a point where I want to add an upper to do some hunting with. My hunting is deer under 150 yards and hopefully this year a piggy or two. I wanted to build a AR10, but with having the baby I don't see it happening this year. 300BLK is out because I shoot quite a bit and I'm not reloading yet, and really in subsonics I don't see their merit in this case ballistics wise. I also want a semi auto, and have no desire for an AK. I have a Saiga in 223 and while I respect AK's, they just don't do it for me. So, here I am...looking at "banana" mags and thin walled bolts and reading inter web horror stories of misfeeding nightmares. I know I need a slightly longer firing pin and a extra power hammer spring wouldn't be a bad idea. Has anyone ever had a x39 upper, and if so was it so bad you threw it in a river and washed your hands of it?
  23. Sounds to me like you don't know exactly what you want to use the optic for. So, with that in mind, I suggest a good 1-4 or 1-6x. For a budget friendly option I'm a big fan of the CMR http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BJXLXS0/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1455036058&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=leatherwood+hi-lux+cmr&dpPl=1&dpID=31xXdDtuWZL&ref=plSrch
  24. I never wish harm on anybody. That said, I do often grin at the thought of Waylon, Haggard, and Jones giving Luke Bryan and the like a good old honky tonk bar ass whooping. Heck I think Conway Twitty would punch a few of them.
  25. I have to admit, I've never really heard her sing. I mean, I've heard some of her music (unfortunately), but I've never actually heard her sing. I was pleasantly surprised.
