  1. I blame Siri... Almost every one of those is an iPhone. The various android keyboards are pretty damn good about correcting stuff correctly.
  2. I'm ready for my daughter to get big enough to help me sort through my brass...still have a few years though. I have a few hundred rounds of each pistol loaded, and supplies to load a few hundred more. I haven't shot my pistols much lately, but I usually replace what I shot plus one box. I have been reloading my 30-06 a lot, working different loads for accuracy. I usually do batches that I plan to shoot for the weekend, but my target rounds I will load up as time allows and let them sit. Last night I loaded about 50 rounds, 20 of which are test #2 of a Sierra GameKing load that I shot last week - 5 shots in 1.3 inches, best 3 were 0.6 inch spread.
  3. I have looked at the Nikon app but haven't bought it. I found Strelok a few months ago, it is a ballistics app but I haven't used it very much. My limited usage, it works well. You specify your caliber, scope, and cartridge info. Has a diagram for holdover and windage, chart for drop, etc. Pretty cool app for free!
  4. I meant to also say in my post above...just because a company policy is no weapons in the premises, that does not mean everyone there is a gun hating lib. SB should not be considered any differently IMO. They are a business, trying to stay out of the fight and make money by selling their product.
  5. I normally stay out of these posts, enjoy sitting back and laughing at all the nonsense I read. But...for all the people who talk about boycotting Starbucks since they are infringing on your rights (even though it is a clear REQUEST to leave them out of the politics involved and a REQUEST to not open carry in a method that could invoke fear), are you also going to quit your jobs tomorrow? Most companies have a policy that prohibits weapons on the premises. The actual building may not be posted but when you accepted the position you acknowledged you would follow the company policy. Therefore they are now infringing on your constitutional right and you should gibe up your job and boycott said company. Obviously this is a ridiculous thought and no one is going to quit their job. So how is the request by Starbucks to leave them out of the gun discussion, and for the nutjobs who carry long arms into their establishment to cease any less ridiculous? As for the posts about how open carry can incite fear...I agree it can. I also agree that open carry is a decision for each person to make and I respect it. I have a neighbor who open carries a Sig 226 everywhere. When I first moved into the area, the way he acted while OCing did cause me some unrest even though I knew I could defend myself if he ended up being a strange character. If I had seen someone carrying a shotgun or AR around the neighborhood I would have been even more concerned.
  6. I use a cut up dryer sheet as well, but it is more for dust IMO. I'm not sure what the polishing affect of the sheet is.
  7. I use a capful of Nu Finish in my walnut media, works very well. I'm not sure how it compares to Flitz, but I'm of the impression flitz is more abrasive.
  8. It will all depend on pricing for me, but if I get the lower/upper this will be my first build and first AR platform (I shoot my neighbors all the time though). I had planned on buying like a RRA or DPMS by the end of this year but would love to build and customize my own. I have started shopping around for parts, even a complete upper, so I have an idea of prices but still not sure of everything I would need to purchase. And I would certainly like to find someone in the area I could perform the build with (I don't have any of the tools obviously). Will see how it plays out but I'm excited.
  9. How many of us in Columbia reload? Maybe we could do a group buy from David, beats us driving individually to meet him or paying to get in at a guns how just for his booth. Hell, for that matter how many of you have I met at the Maury County range and not known?
  10. If you were closer I would help you out... Since safe mode, last known good config aren't working then an alternative boot method is the next step. If you can get the Windows 7 startup repair to launch you can get into a command prompt, otherwise create a boot cd or flash drive as posted.
  11. I've never found a good deal at Kings, never walked out the door with anything in my hands either. Even before Sandy Hook I thought their prices were on the high side (I have passed on their used/abused pistols and bought the same one new from a different store for $15 more, more than one time). But, it is nice to have multiple local options and some competition, even though I won't go into half of the local shops personally. Speaking of local options, Gary at Lock and Load is working a deal with some people to start carrying some reloading supplies, I'm not sure when though. I was talking to him about 2 weeks ago at the range.
  12. Turn the computer on, start tapping F8 and try to boot into Safe Mode. The blue screen you posted seems to be a missing boot file, driver, or hardware issue. Due to the event timing/circumstances you listed, I would say a missing or corrupt file. Or just coincidence that a hardware issue occurred (memory or video card most likely culprit).
  13. I found about 20 pieces a couple weeks back. Stupid me threw them out but if I find more will save them. 20 obviously isnt much but its something.
  14. I walk the pistol range every time I go and pick up 9mm and 45 brass. Also been lucky enough to find about 100 38special brass. I'm glad deer season is rolling around, hopefully I can get some extra 30-06 brass else I'm going to have to buy some soon.
  15. Way to dig in and research what was running. Permissiondog is good, and there are a few others that work similarly to show you what apps are actually doing in the background. Unfortunately on a stock phone there isn't much control except uninstall the app. Rooting your phone keeps the factory OS, but gives you full administrator access (android is based on Linux, root is Linux admin). With root access you can break your phone so use caution if you look into it. But it opens up "hacks" and some apps that let you control app permissions, use a firewall to block network access, etc. I have the Samsung Note 2, rooted and running a custom ROM. A custom ROM replaces the factory os version with a developer custom designed build with better performance and more customization options. As noted, Apple devices are very locked down and the app market is tightly controlled by Apple. There is little user control available - you get what Apple and the app developers give you.
  16. I would be interested in one of each depending on prices. I had planned on buying a factory MSR later this year but would really enjoy building my own. Price will determine if I can do it or will have to pass (wedding coming up so managing funds tightly).
  17. My fiance's family is in the flooring business. If TripleDigit cannot help I can try to help you out. On my phone so don't see your location, but we are in Columbia, her dad lives/works in Jackson. He also does jobs here in Columbia, as well as another family member.
  18. A-H is always stocked every time I go, and prices are very fair. The only thing I haven't found there is CFE 223...
  19. Root (android phones) and then block app permissions you don't like. That way you keep the app to use if u need it but it cannot access your camera, or connect to the internet or use your GPS. Google is supposedly working to make permission management a built-in feature of Android.
  20. Guess I should have put depending on the size of the animal. And as an option for repeat offenders if a normal paintball doesn't keep them away. And don't aim for the head if using a marble or frozen ball.
  21. Marbles work too, bit more sting but non lethal. Or frozen paintballs as mentioned. I have used air soft and paintball for nuisance animal control, everything from birds and dogs to cows that got out. It generally works well. Can also go back to the old rock salt 12 or 20 gauge shells...
  22. I process all my own. Grew up slaughtering hogs too. It is a tiring process but is worth it to me to know I am eating what I shot and to know everything was handled correctly. I do steaks, roast and grind up burger. I've ate venison processed from several different places and it never tastes as good as home processed. One of the reasons being they don't take the time to cut the membrane off the steak cuts, I do remove it and makes a big difference.
  23. I got all excited for nothing... KY not TN is a bit further away.
  24. I didn't know Franklin had a drive in, always have went out to Lewisburg. They sold out but new ownership just opened or is opening soon, I forget what the date was. Let us know how Franklin is.
  25. I miss playing paintball, been a few years and I sold all my stuff. I had one that could shoot 18 balls a second on full auto, but also had semi and 3 round burst modes. The double trigger rocks back and forth, literally just rock you finger to shoot. I could match full auto with this method, without having to switch modes, and for at least my gun accuracy and reliability did not drop - both fell off when in full auto mode. For a real firearm, it is a gimmick and I would never consider using it personally.
