  1. Columbia shoot October 6th. VFW off Highway 50/Williamsport Pike. Starts at noon.
  2. I've used Simmons scopes a few times and they are a decent plinker scope. In fact, had one on a deer rifle for about 8 years. Glass isn't the best but I think goodvfor the price -around $45 for a 3-9x40.
  3. That Casio GZone is a tough phone...it survives everything except a bonfire... This was a few years ago, but falls, water, even being run over with a tractor didn't kill it. It slipped out of a pocket while tending a bonfire. Going back to the original post, I saw this a few days ago. Hard to believe that people actually tried it, but there are multiple examples of how stupid some people are.
  4. What would you use it for? There are a bunch of options as I'm sure you know, some are specific use cases and others are multiple uses. I have a Stoeger P350 with pistol grip - I bought it for turkey hunting. But, Stoeger included a field barrel, standard stock and chokes so I could easily use this single shotgun for multiple purposes. It is a 3 1/2 chamber.
  5. I picked up a few hundred mixed pistol brass today, haven't sorted it out yet. Still haven't caught anyone at the rifle range this year to get their brass...maybe in the next couple of weeks otherwise I'm going to have to look at buying factory ammo or some new brass for my 30-06.
  6. Columbia one is coming up soon, i saw the sign but don't remember which Sunday in October. I will try to find out this weekend. It is through thr VFW though, they do a couple a year.
  7. It is brass that is nickel plated - maybe something with the plating process or there is not enough nickel to attract to the magnet? I love the look of nickel cases - have about 1400 40cal and they look sweet loaded up, need to powder coat some bullets and really make these rounds stand out.
  8. I may have to recant my comment...discovered yesterday I threw a wheel weight, so got the tires rebalanced and the ride this morning was amazing. The shocks are stiff but it is not an uncomfortable ride like it was.
  9. Im a Ford man... I don't think you can go wrong with factory ammo for plinking. Blazer is as good as Remington, Monarch as good as Winchester, etc for punching holes in paper. I have shot most factory brands and isn't much difference in any unless you are shooting competition or step up to rifle ammo. I haven't had any issues related to the ammo that I can remember., I've never had the chance to shoot a FNH but have held a couple and they feel good. Good luck getting some cheap ammo and enjoy shooting.
  10. Best brand of ammo? Ford or Chevy? :) Before I started reloading, I would buy one box of 2-4 brands and shoot them. Then would continue buying the brand that was the most accurate for that specific pistol. But, if your just target shooting buy whatever is cheapest - can shoot more that way. I second buying brass cased ammo. If you are talking about defensive rounds, I have Hornady Critical Duty and Speer Gold dots. But Barnes, Federal, and Remington have very good options also.
  11. That sucks, I can't even imagine having a cut like that. Our corporate office has been sending out emails about insurance open enrollment starting soon and how the law changes will affect us. From the initial information, the shitty corporate insurance cost out of my pocket is going to double. Lots of people are going to be making some hard decisions over the next several months.
  12. I just put KYB shocks on and so far I'm hating them. I researched quite a bit before buying and these seemed like the best for the price (couldn't justify the price for Bilsteins) but they are super stiff. I got the Gas-aJust model, hope they break in and soften out some.
  13. I just put Firestone Destination LE2 tires on,they are a 60k tire. I really like them so far, had BFGoodrich Radial T/A before and these are in improvement.
  14. Place in Summertown rents one...Eagle Eye range. I haven't actually been there yet, they opened earlier this year, but have talked to a few people that have gone. I think its a 500 yard range.
  15. I bought that same scale, it is a piece of shit...turn it on and calibrate, weigh one powder charge and loses calibration. I bought it to use instead of my beam scale for a bit faster pace and have never been satisfied so it sits in a drawer now. The RCBS 505 is what I use, great scale but at $80 or so it isn't exactly budget (depends on your budget I guess). I have read good reviews of the Lee safety scale but it is only a 100 grain scale. Hornady also has a balance beam scale, a bit cheaper than the RCBS one.
  16. It seems that some Walmarts carry lizard litter but not all. Like Mike said,Petco/Petsmart or similar store.
  17. Yeah I know...I love Craftsman tools. I've only used the warranty a couple of times and they do stand behind their product warranty.
  18. Finally finished!! What a pain in the ass. Was are to get the filter off, the filter did not appear to have any oil on the gasket and it had stuck. Anyways, much thanks to Luke for the impact chisel idea. It did not knock the filter off, but obviously loosened it some as after a few minutes I switched back to filter pliers and the filter band wrench - two people, top and bottom of the filter and we were able to get it. Worth mentioning that this morning before the impact chisel I broke a heavy duty set of Craftsman pliers. It was one of the 18 inch slip joint, snapped right at the joint. I couldn't believe it snapped those, they are thick. Thanks for all of the ideas. Just glad this is finished and I know the new filter is installed correctly.
  19. Here are a few pics for reference... Not a lot of room. These are through the wheel when and then straight up from the bottom. https://plus.google.com/app/basic/photos/107430393022655485187/album/5926451919414872305?cbp=127ejqutjr5q7&gl=us&sview=23&spath=/app/basic/photos&sparm=cbp%3D50sfuauif9rl%26gl%3Dus%26sview%3D2%26spath%3D/app/basic/stream%26sparm%3Dcbp%253D1573jvcpizrho%2526gl%253Dus%2526sview%253D31
  20. Nope. Ford put it in the most god awful spot.
  21. Looks like I have a couple ideas to try this morning... Going to try and heat it up first and see what happens. I did break the fabric strap wrench, but using a leather belt sounds like an option and I may even be able to pull that through the wheel well.
  22. Air chisel - hadn't considered that but the shock affect could help. That is why I had tried the impact wrench earlier with the undersized socket. May check Walmart or Lowes tomorrow, thanks for the idea.
  23. I really think the filter has fused to the engine due to a lack of oil on the gasket. It is the only thing that makes sense, I have put more than enough torque to have broken it free just from being too tight. I will try applying some heat to the top of the canister to free the gasket tomorrow and see what happens.
  24. I thought about ripping it off and trying the chisel but was hoping for a simpler option. I did try a chisel right at the top of the canister, beating it to try and unscrew but not a lot of room to get a good swing. Not sure about the water pump pliers, cannot get much of an angle, pretty much a vertical grip is all I can get with the filter pliers, and going in through the wheel well doesn't have room for any leverage.
  25. Been a long ass day...started working on my truck at 10am and just came inside and got cleaned up at 8:30pm.   I have a 2009 Ford Ranger with the 4.0 in it. Today I was going to change the shocks and then do an oil change (been doing normal maintenance for about 15 years with my dad and then on my own). Long story short, I got the shocks done and was all excited, 20 minutes left and I will be done with the oil and can go watch football.... and then the oil filter would not come off.   I use a K&N filter (http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?prod=hp-2010) that has the 1" nut on the end for easy removal. The problem goes back a couple of months when my water pump went out and I had a local shop replace the pump - they told me they performed an oil change but I never bothered looking at the filter or anything. So today, I go to take the filter off and the nut is stripped out on the filter, it was not stripped when I installed the filter (hand tight plus a turn with the wrench) which means the shop apparently took off my filter and then re-installed it, over torqued to strip the nut. I assume they also did not put oil on the gasket which is why I am having such a hard time too...   So a 20 minute job turned into 8 hours and still not done. Due to the nut on the filter, a standard oil filter socket will not fit, filter pliers and vice grips are not working, filter strap is not working (tore the fabric actually), using a smaller socket on the nut and using an impact wrench to try and back it off, and finally - screwdriver through the filter with a ton of leverage to try and force it. Filter is still stuck.  I tried using this 3 legged filter removal tool - the legs are not long enough to get a grip because of the filter nut http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/OEM-3-legged-oil-filter-wrench-for-imported-and-domestic-cars/_/N-25ra?itemIdentifier=114009_0_0_     Does anyone happen to have one of the below tools that I could borrow? None of the local stores carry them, and it would be Monday late afternoon if not Tuesday before they could have one available. The truck is not drive-able since the filter is punctured and oil has been drained. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_3-8-drive-oil-filter-wrench-3-1-8-to-3-7-8-lisle_25981260-p?searchTerm=oil+filter+wrench OR Similar to the tool I have tried but the legs appear to be a lot longer. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_oil-filter-wrench-3-leg-otc_17631694-p?searchTerm=oil+filter+wrench     Does anyone have any other ideas I could try? I thought about trying to heat up the filter, but don't want an open flame and I don't have a heat/soldering gun. My fiance has a professional salon hair dryer, do you think it would get warm enough to help? The way Ford built these trucks, room is limited to try and use some tools or get enough leverage. The filter is vertical if that matters and I am in Columbia. I will be online for another hour or so and then up working on this in the morning. Thank you for anything you may offer!!
