  1. Found some available!.....    http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=405810363
  2. My quote with the part in bold was strictly to draw attention to the statement that the serial number was removed with no damage, but those pics show a receiver that is mangled. Not sure why it has been destroyed like that, just thought it was a hilarious comment. However, removing the serial plate really did not cause any further damage which is the point being made.
  3.   Yeah since no one has the sense to ask for an explanation when he is introduced as Eugene, the guy who knows what happened and how to fix it...
  4.   Yeah, I used to shoot that in my Ruger P90 before I traded it. 1 mag was like shooting 100 rounds of any other ammo. Absolutely filthy but it was cheap.
  5. For all we know (think mentioned already), the two groups could have met up and Carol/Tyrese could have the weapon cache and be planning a rescue. All I know is it will be a long wait for October. I need to catch up on the comics.
  6. That is my thought, if their position is the serial could be too easily removed, well that applies to any weapon, not just polymer. If there is a desire to remove the serial, it will be accomplished.
  7.   Just realized that the article states the letter is from June 2013. This is the first I have heard/seen concerning it though.
  8. Never been there, have no plans on going either. Did you speak to a ranger officer/owner/manager before leaving?
  9. Right on the heels on the 5.45 ban talk, now a letter stating that PlumCrazy polymer lowers are illegal. I do not see any difference in how the serials are implanted on the metal strip with these compared to other receivers I have seen (including pistols).   http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/03/30/plumcrazy-polymer-lowers-illegal-letter-batfe/   Also, look at the pictures the ATF provided....does it match this statement? "Firearms Technology Branch technicians were able to remove the PlumCrazy serial number using just a hammer and a screwdriver in just one minute and without doing any damage to the receiver."

    Painting sights

Yep, nail polish works great. My Smith 9mm , the white front dot somehow chipped and only half was left. I had been considering painting it anyways, but when it chipped gave me the reason to take care of it sooner. I cleaned the sight very well with rubbing alcohol and let it dry. Then I dabbed bright orange nail polish into the dot - several coats, let it swell up and start to bubble out of the dot, sit for a minute and add another coat. Once I was finished and had a very bright orange dot, I let it dry and then put 2 coats of clear polish as a sealer. It has held up great and is very visible.
  11. I just recently purchased my first pistol light, and my plan is to shoot with the light on there because this is my bedside weapon. I want to make sure the light is going to stay on, and also be comfortable with the extra weight and how it affects recoil. I may try to tape the light to prevent the build-up, but I dumped 150 rounds through over the weekend and there was almost no buildup on the light.    My light sticks out a couple inches past the barrel, wonder if that affects the powder buildup?
  12.   My experience is about 105-110 9mm per pound, and 75-80 .45     Guide from another website -   Cartridge Weights per 1000  380 Auto- 8.5 lbs 9mm-9 lbs  357 Sig-10 lbs 38 SPL-10 lbs 357 Mag-12 lbs. 10mm-11 lbs. 40 S&W-10 lbs.  45 ACP-12.5 lbs  223 13.25lbs
  13. And from a couple of websites, scrap yellow brass is about $1.65 per pound. That is a lot less than what reloaders pay for brass (9mm=3cents, 5.56=6-10cents, etc.).
  14. I did some further reading on the site, and the EUC is required once a winning bid has been submitted. And a new EUC is required for each sale event, not per lot.  So it sounds like anyone with a prior EUC would still have to submit a new one, but the processing time is a lot quicker.   I am going to watch a few of these auctions and see what happens with bid activity.
  15. I don't think it got that far but sure was trying.
  16. Agreed - they said it would be action packed but there wasn't much happening. Could have been a much better episode even without more blood.
  17. Interesting way to handle the Joe/Daryl/Rick confrontation. Knew Terminus wouldn't be good....guna be a long wait for season 5.
  18. I figured it is worth watching, never know when an auction will get very few bids and be a steal. I don't exactly need the brass but if the auction stays reasonable I would be interested in trying to win one. Figure about 7400 5.56 brass per 100 pounds, could split up a single lot and sell extras but would all depend on how bidding went.
  19. I mount my scope, then use a cheap multi caliber laser boresighter in the house to roughly adjust the crosshairs in windage and about 1" high. When I go to the range, shoot at 50 yards, 1st shot has never been more than 5 inches from POA. Make adjustments, fire 2nd shot to verify and then dial in at 100 yards.
  20. I assume AIM and Copes would ask the appropriate questions on the call...but right now there is a chance it is a misunderstanding from someone in the BATF talking out their ass. Right now no ban, just a delay on the import paperwork (from all I have read). Some of the pistols in question have been manufactured for 3+? years. All of the home built pistols have not been an issue. JBI Armory Robs Armory Black Horse Arsenal
  21. 16 pages on Arfcom, just read them all. Seems that JBI is not the first to build and advertise a 5.45 pistol, been a few others ahead of them. I don't (unfortunately) own anything that shoots surplus ammo so doesn't affect me directly but still its a load of bull.
  22. I saw that. A pallet is what, maybe 40# or so? And a plywood box, so figure subtract 100 pound and rest is brass?
  23. There is also a lot of 50cal brass (10k #) and several lots of 5.56 bras The post the other day about the lead blankets got me thinking and I checked what was nearby. Anyone ever bought and picked up one of these auctions before?
  24. In Clarksville http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/view?auctionId=7443213
  25. My last batch of reloads through my 16" were ejecting at 2:00. I had been considering a heavier buffer or adjustable gas block (although since it was a budget build wasn't sure about dumping more into it vs saving for a new build). I may go ahead and order one or both.   I have noticed that different powders seem to easily overgas at least in my rifle. For example, CFE223 with a minimum load compared in 2 manuals will eject at 1:00-2:00 constantly. I dialed back 2 grains below min load to get a 3:00 ejection pattern. But Varget is usually 3:00 to 4:00 with a mid level load.
