I've been with Verizon for a decade and always been happy. Well, until a few months ago when I started working in Nashville and have garbage data. IF I can even get 4G signal, I pull max 5Mbps and usually around 1.2Mbps. If you are in Nashville after business hours that will jump up to 25+Mbps. Verizon's network is too saturated in the area - it is not a phone issue, it is network, Google it and there are hundreds of complaints. Coworkers and friends with AT&T do not have these problems, in fact coworkers have no issues pulling in 4G and 20Mbps while in the "bunker" that we work in. Down in Columbia I routinely pull 30+Mbps on Verizon, but since I spend half my day in Nashville I need better service so I am switching next month. Verizon does have faster speeds, but I need the coverage and signal where I work and can sacrifice a bit of speed at home. I had AT&T a few months ago (two phones, one personal and one for work) so I know that the speeds are about 5Mbps apart.

Hmm, just got my first Glock today in a trade. The night sights are very faint so may look at replacing them. Will bookmark that form just in case...

Where are you located at? I'm down in Columbia but would be willing to cut any I get off the carcass. If had known sooner, I got 2 a couple weeks ago that I could have saved.

Powder coat in the house AND keep mamma happy
TNMTBik3r replied to jaysouth's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Be careful heating the bullets up. I tried that once, added powder and got a sticky mass that I could not tear apart. The powder clung instantly. -
Since you can't find ammo, you want to sell that rifle? I really can't explain why I want one, have never owned a lever action but know the Marlin 336 is usually highly rated. And I would rather not have a 30-30. Back to ammo, I would bet you are having a difficult time finding any because with the recent ammo shortage I know several companies quit producing some calibers that were not high sellers. Maybe some out of the way gun shop would have a couple of boxes still sitting around.

I used aluminum screening for a door or window. Not sure if it would be cheaper than chicken wire, but was inexpensive. -
Dang, what a deal.
-
Message sent Red. I'm digging through stuff now to see what I can pay forward.

I have been wanting to buy a Marlin 336 in .35Rem. I reload everything I shoot anyways, but this is a caliber that seems like it almost requires reloading due to being scarce on the shelf.

That is a good looking rail and a great price.

Mind posting a close up of the rail and maybe details on it? Can't zoom in on the pic from my phone but looks like a keymod? Looks good!

The Tennesseean (Or, Brian Haas et al have left the building)
TNMTBik3r replied to R_Bert's topic in General Chat
Only thing this paper has been good for is coupons for the wife. And we quit that months ago. I'm not even sure the last time I bought a paper. Know she will be getting the Tennessean on Thanksgiving though to look at ads. Regardless, good for some of these people to be moving on to better positions. -
They were closed earlier when I went by (2pm) was today the funeral?

Gunsmith is moving to a new building and I haven't been able to catch them so far this week. Ya know, going with a 10.5" barrel would be so much easier...it just isn't what I think I want :)

Depending on how large of one you want, here is a great recipe. This fills a 3 quart pyrex dish. Can be halved for a smaller dish. 1# venison burger 1# hamburger 1# pork sausage 2 eggs 1/2 to whole onion (or 2 packs onion soup mix) Splash of milk - mom and wife say they eyeball it so who knows how much Breadcrumbs - 1 cup up to 1.5 cups depending on how firm you want Shake of garlic powder - approx 1 tablespoon Worcestershire or other seasoning to taste Cook at 350, drain any grease off every 20 minutes or so. For topping, mix ketchup, Worcestershire, and brown sugar. They have no measurements available for this either so mix and taste. Wife is guessing about 1/2 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire and brown sugar. If too runny add more sugar or ketchup.

I like the feel of my Ruger SR40c, it conceals well and is a great shooter. Only have it for sale to try and consolidate some stuff and free room. Never been a Glock fan but I still have not grabbed a Gen4 so who knows. The M&Ps are amazingly comfortable to me as well. One of them is high on my list for next purchase.

Great info Dolomite, thanks! I will search for him on the net tonight and see what I can find. That price is about inline with the one barrel I found, and certainly cheaper than the Noveske.
-
I swore I found one that was carbine length but obviously not, or I didn't save it. The 3 I have saved are pistol length. So I guess part of this discussion should be is it worth trying to make a carbine length work, or stick with a pistol length system?
-
I had planned on a free float rail regardless. I thought carbine length fell about 7.5" down? Thanks, this is the kind of info I need. I plan on stopping in and talking to the 'smith this week to get the shops thoughts about it as well.
-
I have tried to research this and not finding a whole lot of info... hoping Dolomite or someone else with a wealth of knowledge can help enlighten me :) Working on my first AR pistol, the lower is complete and I have been debating what I want to do for the upper. I have handled both a 7.5" and 10.5" 5.56 pistol and liked the balance of both. However, the 7.5" is considerably louder and the short barrel means less accuracy/velocity. The 10.5" is just a tad longer than what I would like to have. I feel that a 9" barrel would be ideal - a good compromise in length, noise, accuracy and velocity. This length should allow for either a carbine or pistol length gas tube however I am not sure if a 9" barrel with a carbine length gas tube would be reliable - this is what I am looking for thoughts on. I know that BCM went with a 11.5" SBR over 10.5" because the extra inch of barrel length resulted in 40% more dwell time and therefore increased reliability. How would a 9" barrel stack up? WOuld a carbine or pistol length be better? I will be using an adjustable gas tube and reload so can somewhat tailor the loads to work properly. I have found a couple of 9" or 9.5" 5.56 barrels online. They are not cheap though! I was thinking about buying a 16" carbine from PSA or similar and having a local smith cut it down and re-thread it (depending on their fee, would be a cheaper route). And yes, this will be 5.56 - not going the .300BO route.

Thanks, I hadn't bothered looking at any of the special codes here.

I downloaded this from a site last year and it could be cleaned up as it has some odd comics in between the WD episodes. Looks like this goes through episode 115. I need to download the other episodes and use Adobe or something to clean this up and combine them all. I had the compendium volume 1 but having a .pdf is just much handier and can read on my mobile devices. This is 530MB Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByUSu_dU9HBGampmSGJJcEdua3M/view?usp=sharing

I have a 2 year old Horton I plan to try and sell this spring and upgrade to a slightly faster model. As noted resell value is not the same as with firearms but a bow will last for a couple of decades, just change the cables/strings and keep an eye out for limb stress.

This episode was actually close to how the comic went..... Also, for anyone interested I have the comic somewhere as a .pdf. Forget what episode is goes through exactly, but well past them arriving at DC. I will search for it and post a link for you to download it. Potential spoiler, based on how the comic went....
In the comic, yes "Bob" was bitten and they ate the leg of an infected person. However, think about it - they have been eating infected meat all along since everyone is infected. Only difference is this one is bitten. As for the church, the pastor locked everyone out and barricaded himself in. He listened to their screams and ignored the pleas to save them.
Work says they are going to run drills and verify everyone is up to speed on the proper precautions. And that they are "100% confident ebola will not be spread to the caretakers if the proper safety procedures are followed as the disease is not airborne." I listened with a fair amount of skepticism and am very glad I am not in any of the healthcare facilities.
