Frankford Arsenal Case Trimmer and Prep Center
TNMTBik3r replied to TNMTBik3r's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Midway had a $15 coupon last week, I saved a couple bucks on the listed price even with shipping. -
Anyone else used one of these yet? http://www.midwayusa.com/product/628405/frankford-arsenal-platinum-series-case-prep-and-trim-center I ordered one last week, used it several hours today and very happy. I was debating which trimmer to go with, was looking at the Giraud and WFT but the cost was considerably more. I wanted an easier case prep solution as well and this center fits all my needs. The trimmer indexes on the case shoulder. It is fairly simple to adjust and switch calibers. 3 motorized attachment points for various prep tools - comes with chamfer, debut, and primer pocket cleaner tools. I went through and prepped few hundred pieces of brass today. Very smooth, much easier and quicker than by hand. The brass was already trimmed, but I messed around trimming a few pieces of brass to test adjustment and everything - no problems, very consistent lengths on my test brass. I will try to get some pics and a better review later in the week, maybe even a video. My only complaint, if you want to call it that, is the storage compartment is difficult to pry open - I need to sand the latch lightly I think.

What powder are you using? What I do is place the baffle in, dump in powder, then drop 10 charges and dump them back on top. That will settle the powder and then you can start weighing charges.
-
Sounds like you are using the measure as it comes out of the box, which is the rifle rotor. To test, adjust the measure to drop say 15 grains of whatever powder and weigh them. I bet it will be right on. You will need to buy the handgun rotor as seen here: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/164839/hornady-lock-n-load-powder-measure-handgun-rotor-and-metering-assembly
-
Did you order the pistol rotor separately? The rotor that comes with it is for rifle, and is known to be inconsistent when dropping low charges.

Where do you buy your reloading supplies?
TNMTBik3r replied to enfield's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I picked up 1# of IMR 4166 at A-H. Not sure when I will get a chance to load and shoot any but I am interested in trying it. It was $5 higher than CFE223 which is my go to. I'm hoping it meters fairly well. Read it is cut shorter than varget so maybe... -
Ice in Columbia. Still hoping for snow.

M855/SS109 5.56 Ban!!! AKA Green Tip
TNMTBik3r replied to mcordell's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
But it comes with an ammo can.... -
I use the Hornady OneShot cleaner usually. It is a cleaner and dry lube. Anything that you use for your other reloading equipment or even firearms should be fine for the powder measure. Clean it then let it dry before using.

Signing petition, will send emails out too. If anyone wants to stock up on bullets just in case, this place hasn't raised prices yet. Can only order over phone though. American Ballistics. $100 shipped per 1K M855. They have loaded ammo too. https://m.facebook.com/AmericanBallistics?ref=bookmark -
ETR7 Pistol powder, has anyone tried it?
TNMTBik3r replied to xsubsailor's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Last year I remember a lot of complaints that people were being shorted on powder (on Facebook, don't recall reading it in a forum anywhere). 1# jugs only had 3/4# or something. The company said on Facebook that it was not them but a distributor who was swiping powder then resealing the containers. I would be interested in trying some but at that price might as well stick with TG or W231, at least until those prices go up. -
I am a big fan of Vortex. The couple I have are half the price of my Nikon and glass seems just as clear. They are reliable and so far very durable.

Ha, my cousin almost traded his not very old 4-wheeler for a Mosin. The firearm owner had convinced him it was an extremely rare Russian sniper rifle. I will admit I only saw pictures and did not have the firearm in hand, but it looked liked a standard 91/30 to me. My cousin was convinced to make the trade, but took a second and contacted me first. He walked away from the guy laughing when I told him the approximate value, even if it was a Sniper Mosin Bud's sells them for around $500ish from what I saw at the time.

What's their brass policy? Able to pick up yours or it belongs to the club once hits the ground? -
Strategic Edge Range in Chapel Hill, TN - 1250 Yard Range - Join Now
TNMTBik3r replied to shaftbass's topic in General Chat
I have thought about joining, would like to have a chance to shoot beyond the 200 yards MCGC offers. It is only 30 miles away from me, but still 3x further than where I shoot now. If I joined up at Strategic Edge, I would probably shoot a bit less often but spend more time shooting each visit. Me and a neighbor said the other day we want to drive out and just take a look at the setup, I need to remind him about that and go visit the range. -
I still haven't had time to watch Breaking Bad... I have all of the seasons sitting here, need to start them. I will go ahead and record these, not sure if I will watch them now or wait until I can make it through all the BB episodes.

RCBS tech called me a few days ago, and the die arrived back yesterday. Tech said the die measured fine in their testing, using a single stage press he was seeing sufficient shoulder setback when measured with a precision mic. He went ahead and took 0.003" off the bottom of the die. They also sent me a new washer for my turret press, said they changed the washer thickness recently to help remove some of the play, and that this washer may help even without the die modification. I set the die up this morning, touched the shellholder and then 1/4 turn to cam over. Measured 5 pieces of brass then ran through the die, all measured 0.005" setback. Looks like I will be good now, just have to get the die fully adjusted and start resizing all this fired brass sitting here.

Not cheap, but the diamondhead sights are awesome. Diamond aperture is a lot more natural for my eyes to acquire and align. Not quite as fast as a red dot but fairly close once you practice a while. They are folding sights, but lock very solidly.

I lucked into a really good spot the middle of last year. Our on call rotation is one week, every 12 weeks or so. I'm back end platform support so very little user interaction. I'm the "lucky" on call this week. Ready for the weekend to catch up on all this missed sleep. Nashville area is a hot spot in IT. Keep your eyes open, send in some resumes, never know what will open. I know from experience if an employer doesn't appear to care and is not willing to work with you, then you will never be happy working there, things will never change.

I have Uverse. 300+ channels and it is $80 a month, contract up in April. Depending on what happens with the new Dish/SlingTV package I may get it for $20 a month. It lacks like 2 channels I watch shows on but I can stream those shows from Amazon or Hulu. http://m.about.dish.com/press-release/products-and-services/sling-tv-launch-live-over-top-service-20-month-watch-tvs-tablets

I am now pre-registered, badges are on the way for me and the wife (she claims she will go with me but will see when the time comes). -
I had to miss the previous group buy due to timing with my wedding/honeymoon and those expenses but I really hope to grab one of these sets. I wasn't really planning on an AR-10 build but why not.

I saw that. The duffel bag looks somewhat decent, if you have $500 laying around for the membership. The cheap hat with the payment plan seems a bit weak. Yeah I know, you don't sign up for the gift but still.
