  1. Update - M9A3 is now shipping!  I will be waiting to see prices and read reviews. I have considered a M9A2 for a while and handled the M9A3 at the NRA convention and really liked it. Will see how things go, this may end up being my next purchase.   http://www.gunsandammo.com/news/beretta-m9a3-now-shipping/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=editorial&utm_term=gunsandammo&utm_content=gunsandammo
  2. Damn! Almost would be worth the drive if I knew they had a stock of that. I buy Titegroup for $20/# now so that had to be a screwup but great luck for you.
  3. I ordered the Mityvac MV8000, should be here in a couple days. Will update with how it works out but for the price seems like the best buy.
  4. Nosler already has Ballistic Tips that glow in the dark. I can see Hornady continuing that.
  5. And those copper/polymer blend bullets look very interesting. I've read some reviews and seen a couple gel tests.
  6. Nice! Any reason in particular you went through with the long barrel? I've told the wife I want a 9mm AR but I think a pistol config with like a 7.5" barrel would be my build.
  7. You have the upfront cost of the equipment which can be very cheap (Lee) or several hundred dollars for a more durable brand or progressive setup. I no longer reload .40s&w but here is my 9mm price: Brass = free. I don't count it as it is range pickup and can be reloaded multiple times. Primer = 3 cents Powder = 2 cents or less Bullet = 5 cents - purchased lead bullets. Plated is slightly more. My 9mm loads cost me 10 cents per round. Cheap brass cased ammo at any store around here is 25-30 cents per round. So I shoot 2-3 times more for the same price va buying ammo. It all comes down to how much you will shoot. Only 1200 rounds a year is still potential for $150 or so in savings OR shooting more often.
  8. That has been my process for the past few years. It works but I know there is a better/easier way and don't have to rely on any help with one of the solo kits.
  9. I've spent a decent amount of money on me in the past couple of months (pistol, rifle, scope, reloading stuff) so told the wife I don't want anything for Christmas. Will probably get cash from the in-laws and put it towards reloading components. I probably will end up buying me a present with the pretense it is for my daughter. She is only 3 but loves looking at the moon and stars as do I. So a decent quality telescope is on the list for "her".
  10. Thanks - think I will grab that Mityvac kit. Not a bad price and reviews on the brand seem favorable.
  11. Any recommendation for a vacuum system? Mityvac looks like a popular brand based on 2 minutes of research.
  12. Growing up working on vehicles with my dad, he never bled the brakes and put in new fluid. Over the past few years I have tried to extend the maintenance I perform on my own vehicles by including brake fluid replacement along with other maintenance.    I have been using a turkey baster to drain the master cylinder and then using brake pressure to drain the lines. This can take a while and is aggravating to perform. I need to replace the brake pads on my car again soon and it is time for new brake fluid. I am considering buying a one man DIY pressure bleeder kit but I don't trust Amazon reviews.   Anyone have a recommendation for a bleeder kit? Something with adapters for multiple vehicles, I have a Chevy, Ford, and Honda that this will be used on - need it for the Honda right now. I thought about, and still may, just check with one of the small shops here and see what they would charge to bleed the system if I bring in my own fluid.   The Motive power bleeder stands out as a decent system from what I have seen on other sites. Anything else I should consider?
  13. FYI, they are taking orders again as of the 16th. First up of course is the holsters they lost in the fire and then the pending orders. Good to see them back in production and especially so quickly - I was expecting a few months.
  14. I'm excited, can't wait. Unfortunately I got stuck being on-call the week it will release so probably won't get to see it until the following week.
  15. Nickel is reloadable - it is brass with nickel plating. The nickel plating may become brittle and flake off after a few reloads though.
  16. I have never found the need to remove crimp on pistol brass. Never had an issue with seating the primer either, can feel it is a tighter fit but have never had a primer not fully seat - 9mm and .45acp. However, the correct way as stated ii ss get rid of the crimp. Rifle brass is a different story, remove the crimp every time.
  17. Self driving car = 2+ hours on TGO while sitting in traffic each day. Will certainly be a novelty item.
  18. It's almost a given anymore over the past couple of years, Vols will hang in and be winning to either halftime or 4th quarter, and then give the game away. Go for 2 points, make a 4th down stop, something and FINISH a meaningful game. Coach Jones has improved this team, no doubt, but still a ways to go.
  19. Yes there is a small range at Yanahli. I believe it is rifle only, no pistols (although hunting pistols are probably ok?). You have to buy a license to use the range and only open certain hours. You also shoot through a corrugated steel pipe so make sure you have good ear protection! Some info here: https://www.tn.gov/twra/article/firing-ranges-j1
  20. They do look nice. A guy at the range I used to go to had one on his SBR and was a very nice setup.
  21. Another Savage 111, newer model for deer hunting.
  22. This is my 3rd Savage and all have been shooters. I will probably be adding another later this year....
  23. I knew going with a Savage I would have excellent out of the box accuracy. Very pleased so far and sure the groups will shrink as I tailor some loads for it. I almost went with a Remington 700, but even though it is a strong action their quality issues over the past several years scared me away. I didn't want to buy a rifle and immediately have to sink a few hundred more into getting a decent barrel. I handled a SPS with the 26" heavy barrel and it was way too heavy and unbalanced. This Savage is light enough to carry around if needed and balances great with everything mounted.
  24. Got this completed and I am happy with it! Now just to get some SMKs and start testing loads.... Savage 10T - this is a Cabela's exclusive, basically the 10FCP-SR but without the threaded barrel. 24" 5R heavy barrel, accu-stock, accu-trigger (very light break). Tactical bolt. Came with a 4 round magazine and I ordered an extra 10 round from Savage. Came with an EGW 0moa base. I took it off and replaced with a Seekins Precision 20moa base. The Seekins rings were sold out when I ordered, so went with the Vortex Precision Matched low rings (made by Seekins, were basically the same price). Harris 6-9" bipod, notched legs. I debated over a scope, was leaning towards a Vortex PST 6-24x50 as I think they are excellent quality and a great price. But I kept researching and called SWFA to get their opinion on the Vortex vs a Leupold VX-3 vs a Zeiss Conquest HD5. They suggested the Sightron SIII which had popped up in my research multiple times, people saying it was a much higher quality glass than Vortex. SWFA had a demo model of the Sightron 6-24x50 MOA for a great price so I snapped it up. 30MM MOA/MOA non-illuminated (model SIIISS624X50LRMOA). I took it out today after mounting everything and put 60 rounds through it. Using the bipod and a rear bag I dialed in at 100 yards (a couple groups below using PMC 147gr, Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr and 175gr) and then rang some steel at 300 yards. Now I just need to get some loads worked up and more range time. I still have 10 of the 175gr Gold Medal Match and will try to get some reloads done before next range trip. But I plan to take my Caldwell front bag and use it instead of the bipod to get a truer feel for what the rifle will group at. Shooting groups off of the bipod and Caldwell rear bag at 100 yards. PMC 147gr FMJ, 5 shots: Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr (Sierra Match King), 5 shot group: Federal Gold Medal Match 175gr, 5 shot group: Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr, 10 shot group:
  25.   I have a bunch of their Plated Match bullets here, but haven't had a chance to load and shoot any to see how they compare with their original plated. RMR has excellent service and great prices.
