  1. I think there have been a few threads about the TP9 lately. I haven't really paid attention but just looked them up and I kind of like the look of the TP9SFx in tungsten.   http://www.canik55.com/series/tp-series/tp9-sfx     A couple of minutes searching shows the SF and SFx models will be imported sometime this year, I am not seeing them listed as available to buy yet?
  2. I would agree .45acp is probably better to start on. Larger case and bullets are easier to handle, I hate how small 9mm feels when swapping to loading that caliber. It's a low pressure round, a variety of powders work for it. I use W231 and Titegroup usually. Watch out for the primer pockets, .45 can be large or small primer so have to separate.
  3. Late to the party, but definitely step up to the Diamondback. I've owned a couple of Crossfire scopes and was very pleased with the clarity for the price range but the Diamondback is a whole other league. Better glass, better turrets, etc. If you want even more features, Viper PST.
  4.   More than welcome to come by one day and look at my setup, talk about equipment, or even load up some ammo if you want.
  5. Geissele is doing a big giveaway that starts today as part of SHOT Show.
  6. Even more of a waste of time than the Bill Goodman show at the fairgrounds.
  7. The "free" argument has been thrown around here for over the past year. A bunch of people listened and ignored all of the other factors, such as extra hardware costs. I could care less, I have experience with both. But VMware is the top dog and Hyper-V has a ways to go still.
  8. But Sam, Hyper-V is FREE!!! I was in a class last year and even a MS rep said Hyper-V is more expensive. Not everyone gets that, or they conveniently ignore it to push their own agendas internally.
  9. VMware is still the top hypervisor but Hyper-V is making some serious inroads. They are fairly similar though, if you learn one you can work in both. Citrix is still big but there are some serious concerns on how much longer they will exist as a company. Even if the company is bought out the technology will remain in use and be integrated into the product line of whomever buys them.
  10. TT Gunleather. I have a Mikes Special edition for my G19 and it is much more comfortable than my Mil Sparks VM2, for me anyways. It rides a bit lower than the VM2. http://www.mcssl.com/store/a9856d0dead4463ea8f07338d4d909/catalog/product/68352856e58a4f40bcf130f25458da04
  11. Change management is an issue pretty much everywhere. The few places I have been, if you can document that your change is going to fix a problem or be an improvement and you have a rollback option most people are open to listening. The problem I have faced over the past year is all the non technical people who want to get involved in problems and make suggestions that have nothing to do with the issue or do not understand the technologies at play and refuse to listen to anyone who knows. I have been battling one problem for several weeks now and have enjoyed greatly the higher ups suggestions being implemented and not helping the problem at all, exactly as I said it wouldn't. It's the little things in life ;) You will battle that type of thing anywhere. IT is always a challenge and that's what I enjoy. Especially in a large environment, every day is a different set of issues and solutions.
  12. What do you enjoy working on, from an IT perspective? For me, I decided about 7 years ago virtualization is what I enjoyed the most. Find a technology or area that you enjoy (even and maybe especially if it is challenging). ETA - that does not mean limit yourself. The more you know the better off you will be to adjust with changing positions but find an area or two to specialize in. I have worked a bit of everything, including network (done some basic Cisco firewall/swtch work and studied for my CCNA but never took it), but virtualization is the technology that really struck hold with me. It has paid off and I am in a very good position now. Whatever you decide I suggest you spend some time on scripting (PowerShell and PowerCLI if do anything with VMware) as it can save you a lot of time. Not only that but pretty much anything you can do in the GUI and oftentimes more is accomplished through PowerShell now. With Server 2016 Nano it will be completely remote PowerShell based, no console.
  13. I've always enjoyed his music. In fact, the music from 'Under Pressure' was played at my wedding. :) It didn't mean anything, was just meant to be funny for anyone who matched the beat to the song name. My wife lost a bet....I was allowed to pick something "upbeat" for us to walk down the isle to.
  14. RMR is good to go. Great prices, great customer service and very quick shipping. I have bought from them several times but not their lead options. I would not hesitate to try them though. Their fmj/plated/pull options are all excellent.
  15. Check AH Reloading over on 4th Avenue. His hours vary so I always call before heading over. Pretty sure I saw some CCI 250s there the other day.
  16. Which model will depend on your intent. Just target shooting, 10, all weather hunting, 16. From SavageShooters: 10/110 = Sporter (old designation, now 10/110 is designation for the Law Enforcement Series) 11/111 = Sporter (new designation) 12/112 = Varmint Series 14/114 = Classic Series (same as Sporter Series but High Luster Blue and Nicer Wood Stocks) 16/116 = Weather Warrior Series (SS Actions, barrels, and Synthetic Stocks) 25 & 40 = Lightweight Varmint Series (these are a totally different Action Setup) Axis = Entry Sporter ( Different Action and Stocks, Sporter Style with DBM only) The letters in the model mean things too. Examples: B - boyds stock F - synthetic stock C - detachable box mag P - police L - left hand model V - bull/target barrel S - stainless barrel HS - HS stock SR - suppressor ready
  17. Some of the stuff online says Aero makes the PSA receivers as of a few years ago. I know there are only a handful of true forgers so very likely. PSA is good to go although I have been eyeing an actual Aero receiver set so I have a different rollmark in the safe.   As stated it basically comes down to which rollmark you like the best on the side, as long as you are talking about a forged lower.   If considering polymer or hybrid, even though the lower basically just holds the mag and FCG and not stressed during firing you still need to consider stress that would be impacted if you had to ever hit something with the buttstock (mortar the weapon, hit a barrier or person for some reason) as these will not hold up as well.
  18. I really could use it for my 6.8 loads (ARP 6.8x43 barrel which is different chamber than even the already non SAAMI certified 6.8 SPCII), but have not justified the cost yet. I've been trying to read brass pressure signs which can be dangerous, and cross referencing with "safe" loads published on the 6.8 forum (starting under and working up).    I have looked at Quickload and used the demo. Very cool software, maybe will purchase it this year. Always too many things on the list....

Adding: Falling Skies Defiance Will second The Strain, I have enjoyed it and should be starting back this summer.
  20. Strategic Edge down in Chapel Hill is the best around. Have to be a member or a guest of a member to shoot (guests are limited to 2 visits). I heard last weekend though that membership is currently filled but the membership year starts over this summer so can check back. 1250 yard range if you have something to take advantage of that distance.
  21. It was the January Guns & Ammo magazine, article about this new Shield version. I cannot find a link to the article online though.
  22. Have used it in 9mm and .45acp. Have a couple of pounds sitting here but I typically use Titegroup because I have a good stash. Clean shooting and accurate powder although I have never seen copper fouling in a pistol barrel so that feature is questionable.
  23. Not a M3500, but I own the Stoeger P-350. Nice shotgun, designed for turkey hunting but mine came with a field barrel and chokes, as well as standard stock and pistol grip version. I haven't handled the M3500 but if it is as nice as the P350 I would go that route. Been very happy with mine and the 24" barrel is still short enough to be a home defense weapon if needed.
  24. One of the magazines had a review within the past few weeks. Guns, Guns & Ammo, will try to find it.   Looks interesting, but basically only difference is porting and sights if I remember right.
  25.   I looked at it, thought about it, and put my phone back down. It was tempting at that price but is an unknown. I just looked up the Blazer line and they are a polymer receiver, haven't dug into further details or reviews.
