Sorry for your loss.

I prefer Atlas bipods, but i don't think they make one to attach directly to a sling swivel stud. However, there are some inexpensive adapters out there to give you pic rail to mount the Atlas. The only problem with Atlas bipods is that they cost 2 to 3 times as much as a Harris. Harris bipods are nice, as well. Just not as versatile as the Atlas. The 6-9" models should be more than enough for prone and bench shooting. That is what I have, and it works just fine.

q's about chinese mosin, what to do with it?
Reservoir Dog replied to a topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Chinese Type 53 Mosins are fairly inexpensive. and there are quite a few out there at this time, however the ones I have seen have been in pretty rough condition. Restoring yours will definitely cost more than the rifle is worth, and probably won't do anything for the value. That being said, if the rifle has sentimental value to you, and you want to get it looking good, then go ahead and have it done. I did the same thing for one of my dad's shotguns. I spent more to have it reblued than the shotgun was worth. It was the first shotgun I ever fired, and I am glad I got it fixed up. I am currently contemplating having the stock refinished, as well. ETA: Having now seen the pictures, that is some severe pitting. Definitely have a gunsmith check it out before you try to shoot it. The gunsmith can give you an idea if it can be repaired, or not. -
Ok, I'm a dummy. Explain .223 vs 5.56 to me please
Reservoir Dog replied to a topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Actually, it is the opposite when talking about .308/7.62. The .308 WIN cartridge has a higher pressure than the 7.62 NATO. Therefore, a .308 chambered rifle can shoot both, but .308 is not recommended for use in a 7.62 NATO chambered rifle. -
Come on guys! How is DHS supposed to enslave us in FEMA camps unless they have these tanks?

Documents reveal more about KPD switch from .40-caliber Glock
Reservoir Dog replied to Coastie's topic in Handguns
Rausch is relatively a new Chief, having been in that position since 2011. Having read some of the stories on this, here is my theory: New chief simply wants a new weapon. He likes SIG .45s, and wants to carry them. He can't very well just say to the city council that he wants a new firearm just because he likes them. So, he finds a way to sell it to them (like the 4 year lifespan claim, undocumented failures, etc...). I have seen this happen many times before. I worked for agency where we carried Glock 9mm pistols. A new agency head was appointed who was a retired Secret Service agent. The USSS carried SIG P229s in .357SIG, so he transitioned our agency to...........surprise.......SIG P229s in .357. Another example is a federal agency that had a new chief who was a retired FBI agent, and everybody got new badges that looked like big FBI badges. -
My 3 year-old son's clothes need this treatment ASAP! :P

Meh. Stallone and other celebrities are entitled to their opinions. I will still watch their movies. To me, Hollywood actors are here it entertain me. They are the court jesters. Why in hell would I care what the court jester thinks.

Ok, really stupid question...
Reservoir Dog replied to timcar86's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Manufacture of machine guns was never banned. The only banning was the civilian ownership of machine guns manufactured after May 1986. -
Bud's does not have (in their physical possession) some of the guns that are listed "in stock" on their website. They are getting feeds from distributor websites. So, when you order one of those guns, Bud's has to get it from a distributor before they ship to the customer's FFL. That is why some firearms have faster shipping times than others. Bud's used to do a lot of "drop shipping," where a customer would order a gun of the Bud's website, but the customer's FFL would receive it from a distributor. However, I heard that some firearms manufacturers complained about that practice, and threatened the distributors with loss of business. So, I don't see that anymore.

Hell, yes! She was always my favorite.

As Dolomite said, they are not necessary, they just give added strength for extraction. I run the BCM extractor upgrade kit on all of my ARs just for the added comfort of knowing I have a nice strong extractor. If you are running a SBR, then I think the upgrade kit (w/ o-ring) would be particularly useful to avoid any extraction problems.

Thanks, Chip! It was a great seminar. I appreciate you taking the time to have that. -
The man has a point. We keep electing them time after time after time. Everybody hates Congress, but likes their Congressman...........so it continues.
You obviously didn't bother to Google the Obama third term articles. No tin foil on my head. I didn't create this stuff up. Again read before making accusations.
No, other people created that stuff up......................out of thin air. I looked up and read the articles, and wish I had those minutes of my life back. All I see is people like Alex Jones, Porter Stansberry, and Joseph Farah pushing this tripe. Basically, you have ignorant fool Birthers and 9/11 Truthers concocting yet another conspiracy theory to feed the group of other ignorant fools who follow them. Hell, last year, Stansberry was predicting that Obama would be the end of America, would lead this country to disaster, and there would be destruction and riots. Now he is predicting that Obama will lead this country to unprecedented prosperity that catapult him to a third term. Honestly, I fail to see how anyone with an ounce of intelligence can believe this stuff.
a little research reveals that the picture of the young men/boys with rifles are Boy Scouts, not Obama's secret army. Yep Boy Scouts . holding airsoft guns. Sends chills up my spine.
The truth does not matter, only what fits their conspiracy mindset. They want to see "Obama's civilian army," so that what they see. They want to see DHS/FEMA as the "shadow government," so that is what they see. FEMA can't even do what it was created to do (responding to disasters, a la Hurricane Katrina), yet they are somehow supposed to train, arm and equip a vast civilian army to enslave the American populace in their camps. The ignorance is so bad, it's funny.
When Obama leaves office in a few years are the tin foil crazies going to disband like a flash mob?
Oh, how I wish they would. However, all this FEMA conspiracy crap has been around long before Obama, and it will continue long after Obama is gone. The administration may change, but the tinfoil remains the same.
I guess I find humor in how people can be suckered into reading obviously biased news articles and accept them as fact.
I find it humorous, as well. People will believe what they want to believe, regardless of fact. Some people see government conspiracies in everything. There are the 9/11 Truthers, FEMA campers, Birthers, and now we have the FEMA/DHS/Hitler Youth Corps-whatever-you-want-to-call-it-to-make-it-seem-more-nefarious bull#### to look forward to. A while back, some poor sap on TGO posted a satirical video by The Onion, and was all up in arms because he thought it was real. It was on the internet, and it fit his conspiracy delusions, so it must have been true. I got a wonderful laugh out of that one. Edit: Reading the article again, I get a good laugh at his reference to the "backward" USA flag on these evil FEMA vehicles. The author is so ignorant, he doesn't even understand the regulations about displaying the US Flag on vehicles/uniforms. Ignorance is bliss, at least for him. I wonder what he says about the way the flag is displayed on the left side of the FEMA death car.
I play when it goes over 300 million. But this time, they claimed the odds were 175 million to one of winning. But reading that tickets were selling at a rate of 135,000 per minute the two days prior to the drawing, the odds may have dropped a little.
The odds never drop. It is fixed on the total possible number combinations. I don't usually play the lottery, but I donated $10 this time. At $580M, I had to give it a try.
