  3. Wow. This is sad news. I have not been on this site very long, but I always enjoyed reading his thoughts on various subjects. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. RIP Shannon.

  5. Pets and Star Wars! You can't beat that! Sounds like it will be a lot of fun.
  6. I can't speak for others, but that has not been the case for me. I use a 9mm Bar-Sto conversion barrel in my SIG P229 (originally .40). It has worked flawlessly, and I would have no problems using it as defensive carry. In addition to a top quality barrel, I use SIG 9mm magazines. I do not use the .40/.357 mags. Most conversion barrel manufacturers say to use the proper mags for the conversion caliber.
  7. Yeah, people are stupid. Some moron starts spreading rumors that there will be a gas shortage, or that gas will rise sharply in price. The sheeple hear it, and rush out and start buying all the gas, thus causing that very problem. Never fails. :-\
  8. I have a SIG P229 that came in .40S&W. I purchased a 9mm conversion barrel made by Bar-Sto. So far, it has worked 100%. Bar-Sto makes excellent barrels, and they do make 9mm conversion barrels for the Glock 23 and SIG P239. If you order direct from Bar-Sto, I believe the is quite a long wait. I guess they make them in batches. I would look around for other vendors that have the barrels in stock, you will get much faster delivery. I ordered mine from Tactical Gun Gear, they are a vendor on SIGforum, and offer great service. I just checked and they have barrels for both the Glock 23 and SIG P239 in stock. http://www.tacticalgungear.com/ There are also other companies like Jarvis, that make barrels. You may want to check with them to see if they make conversion barrels. There is also another company, but I can't remember the name. I believe that 9mm will work in most .40 cal mags, but you might want to test that on the particular gun just to make sure that it will function correctly.

  10. Welcome! I'm glade your here.
  11. Ah, what the hell! I went ahead and installed Foxmarks. Resistance is futile! Ghostrider: Thanks for the tip about the portable apps. I didn't know about those either. (As I said, my computer skills are a little ) I assume you can sync the portable Firefox using Foxmarks?
  12. RIP Pink Floyd is my favorite band.
  13. Thanks everybody. I used the export/import method, and all is well in the universe. I wasn't looking in the correct tab in Firefox. Sometimes, my computer skills are a little . I might look into using the Foxmarks add-on in the future.
  14. I have two laptops. I want to copy my Firefox bookmarks from one laptop, and put them into Firefox on the other laptop. I can't find anything about exporting bookmarks out of Firefox. Any help would be appreciated. I am running Firefox v3.0.1 on both computers.
  15. Glad he is going to be okay. Good thing he broke his arm, and not something worse. I broke my collar bone when I was in the 2nd Grade. Talk about pain!! I had to sleep in a recliner for two weeks because it was too painful to lay down.
  16. My surprised face ====> :-\ I, too, am looking forward to the VP debate.
  17. You probably have a P6 with the older style feed ramp on the barrel. P6 pistols with the older style feed ramp on the barrel have shown reliability issues with some types of hollowpoints. Those barrels were designed to shoot FMJ ammo. Heavier grained JHP ammo seems to be the main cause of the problems. I would suggest you try a lighter weight JHP like 115gr. or 124gr. Some have reported good results with 124gr. Speer Gold Dot HP ammo. I would also look into CorBon Pow'R Ball ammo. Pow'R Ball ammo uses a polymer ball to give JHP ammo a FMJ profile. Also, there is a vendor (Customized Creationz) on SIGforum that offers custom work on P6 barrels to make them more reliable. I have never tried that, so not sure how good it will work, but you might look into that. It is at the bottom of this page: http://customizedcreationz.com/firearms/sigp6p225parts.html. Personally, I like to fire about 500 rounds of FMJ through my guns to break them in. Then I will fire 200 rounds of the defensive ammo that I intend to carry. If it feeds everything reliably, then I would have no problem carrying the pistol.

    Gas

Yep. Gas stations charge what it costs to replace the gas, not what they paid for it. It works both ways. Well, if we lived next door to the oil refineries (like in Houston) our price probably would have only gone up a nickel, as well. The problem is that two major pipelines that supply gas to TN are shut down due to the hurricane. The price of gas is market driven. The market in Houston is much different than the market in E. TN.
  19. I remember seeing pics of a guy's hand, in which he states the tip of his thumb was blown off by gas from the cylinder gap. There is a thread on The High Road about this incident: http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=391097. On page 3, post #69, someone posted the pics I remembered seeing. Not sure if pics are of the same guy that is now suing S&W. Note: The pics are not for those that are squeamish.
  20. I have fond memories of Platinum Plus. On time, this dancer , and then she , and finally she . Ahhhh, good times!
  21. Unbelievable! That guy is insane. Charging a transfer fee for gunsmith work is..........is........... What a crook!
  22. How can they charge a transfer fee for installing sights?? Am I missing something in your story?
