Lets get started on SBS Project
Reservoir Dog replied to chipperi's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I love this thread! -
Correct. The SIG P6/P225 is only chambered in 9mm. And yes, they are great pistols for the money.

Interesting statistics on the "Supply Myth"
Reservoir Dog replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Agreed. When it comes to guns, the likes of Obama and Biden have never let facts stand in the way. -
Those are A3's with the removable carry handle chopped down to make a LMT-style rear BUIS.

What are these "guns" you speak of?

Where was the NRA???????????????????????
Reservoir Dog replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
No they didn't. I agree that the NRA is not perfect, but they were hardly absent from the past election. They ran many ads advertising Obama's position on guns, and his voting history. These ads were run on radio and TV in the the battleground states where there was a chance the election could go either way. Tennessee, on the other hand, was safely in McCain territory, so there was no need to spend advertising money here. So, just because you did not see the NRA in Tennessee, doesn't mean they were not out fighting the fight. You may want to think twice about using David Olafson as an example. Olafson knew his gun was malfunctioning and sometimes firing bursts (making it a machinegun). He could have put in a new LPK and solved the problem, but he didn't. He is paying the price for his stupidity. -
Damn. I really liked his books. RIP

CIS Defensive Pistol course: After Action Report

Dustin, Thanks for the pics! -
Or the Ark II from the 1970's TV show. It even comes with its own jet pack and Trunk Monkey. I used to have a serious crush on the woman in the show.

Brown Bear is good stuff.

It is good that you are basing your decision on his ideology, policies and associations. Those are all viable issues. I dislike Obama for most of those exact same reasons. He won't get my vote either. Anybody can file a lawsuit. All you need is to type up some paperwork, and pay the filing fee. The fact that there is a lawsuit means nothing. All the talk about his BC being proved to be a fake, is nothing but rumors being spread over the internet. I have seen no official reports that his BC was determined to be fake (I have asked for proof on TGO and other websites.......I'm still waiting for anybody to show me the proof). It is good that you are not putting much stock in all of this crap. The people who ardently scream about Obama's BC/Citizenship are the same one's who love saying his middle name, so that they can stir up anti-Muslim sentiment against Obama. They don't have the ability to debate on the issues, so they have to turn to this crap.
-
He is not hiding anything in regards to his BC. It has been released for everyone to see for months now. Hell, it is posted in this thread, and there is also a link to a site that shows it in even further detail (although I hate to cite FactCheck as a source, they have it right in this case). Obama is fighting the lawsuit because it is a stupid, frivolous lawsuit filed by an ardent supporter of one of his political opponents (Hillary Clinton). If the BC was fake, then the Hawaii Department of Health would have put the matter to rest a long time ago. I looked at Berg's website, and I see a lot of allegations, but no physical evidence (no surprise there :-\). His complaint filed with the court is completely laughable. He cites internet rumors and Wikipedia as some of the sources for his complaint. Wow! It is truly ridiculous. Berg is also a 9/11 Truther, as he has previously filed a RICO lawsuit against Bush government officials for conspiracy in the 9/11 attacks. Berg obviously has his tinfoil hat on too tight. If this is who you want to put your stock in, then go ahead. Good luck.

Calling a lawyer after a self defense situation
Reservoir Dog replied to shaftbass's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Huh? If someone kills another person, you have a homicide. Regardless if it is a good shoot or not, you still have a homicide. Nothing is going to change that. I assume you mean that the DA/Judge/Jury will ultimately determine if it is a justifiable homicide or a murder. Correct? -
CIS Defensive Pistol course: After Action Report
Reservoir Dog replied to Reservoir Dog's topic in Training Discussions
I think it was a sign that the G18 and I were meant to be together. You know, Christmas is just around the corner. No need to wrap it. -
Obama is a US citizen. Plain and simple. Being born in the US makes you one regardless of your parent's ages, nationality, or residency. The only exception is a child born to a foreign ambassador accredited to the United States. This crap is getting old. Is this kind of argument the best we can do? If so, we are screwed come November 4th. We need to be fighting Obama on his political ideology and policies, not this tinfoil crap. It is truly sad. I would like to see some of "evidence" that his birth certificate is a forgery. A FBI report or press release would be nice, or even a statement from the Hawaii Department of Health that a US Presidential candidate is offering up a BC that is not even in their records. So far, I have seen none. I'll be waiting, but I won't be holding my breath.

This past weekend, I attended the 2-day Defensive Pistol class from Critical Incident Strategies (http://www.criticalincidentstrategies.com/) in Smyrna, TN. I thought that I would give everybody a report on the class. The Course The training started off with a 3 hour classroom presentation, and I found it very informative. The presentation consisted of lecture on the basic shooting principles; such as proper stance, sight picture, sight alignment, loading/unloading, and an overview of Tennessee’s self-defense laws. There was also a video of an interview with a murderer, and a very intense video of the Columbine shooting in Colorado. Watching these videos, you will see that there are sadistic people out there that think very little of taking a human life. Very eye opening, and the very reason you need to carry a firearm for self-defense. As we moved out to the firing range, we built on the fundamentals discussed in the classroom. We practiced the different stances and reloading drills. As the course progressed, we moved on to more advanced topics such as clearing weapon malfunctions, moving while shooting, firing from different positions (kneeling, prone, supine), one-handed reloading, and drawing your weapon with your non-shooting hand (very hard for me considering my lack of flexibility, and my ever expanding gut ). We also practiced firing in close quarters to the threat. I think most of these skills are never practiced by the majority gun owners, as trying these at your average gun range would not be permitted. However, these are skills that anybody that carries a pistol for self-defense needs to know. Throughout both days, the instructors put us through some friendly shooting competitions, where we would shoot one-on-one against the other students. These competitions incorporated all of the skills we had learned during the course, as well as introducing an element of stress into our shooting. It is interesting to see how your shooting changes when there is a little stress in the picture. During one competition, what should have taken me four shots to complete, took me a full mag of 15 rounds. It was embarrassing and eye opening at the same time. You learn that sight alignment/picture, being smooth in your movement and trigger control are all very important. We had a nice variety of pistols in the class: Glock, SIG, H&K and a Smith & Wesson M&P. Everybody’s pistol seemed to perform very well. It drives home the point that a quality pistol is always a good choice. The only problem I am aware of was a double-feed with the H&K. I am happy to report that my SIG P228 ate everything I fed it. I used Georgia Arms and Federal AE 115gr. 9mm FMJ, and did not have any problems with either. I am not sure of the exact round count that I fired, but I would say probably around the recommended 1,000 rounds. Lots of shooting and reloading mags. For those interested in taking this class, I would highly recommend using a mag loader like an UPLULA. My right index finger is still sore from all the trigger time and mag loading. The Instructors Todd and Dustin were excellent instructors. Their training and experience and law enforcement has given them a great knowledge base for defensive shooting techniques. They offer praise when you are doing well, but they are not afraid to give out constructive criticism where they see need for improvement. They stated that they are constantly changing the course curriculum with new skills, and updated training. So, the CIS classes are ever evolving, and the class you take today will be even better in the future. Also, both of them are super nice guys. I mentioned that I was considering upgrading the trigger spring on my Glock 19 to the NY trigger, as I prefer a heavier trigger pull. Todd immediately spoke up, and offered to give me a NY trigger spring and install in for free. You can’t beat that! Now I have a Glock with the trigger pull I want. Thanks again, Todd! Summary CIS’s Defensive Pistol is an excellent course, and definitely worth the time and money. If you carry a gun for self-defense, or only have one for home defense, I would highly recommend this course. It will test your skills and your equipment. I have been through a few other firearms training courses, and I still took away a lot of info from this class. In my opinion, you can never get too much training, and there is always room for improvement. _________________________________________________ Side note (as it really wasn’t part of the course): To make up for all the punishment they put us through, Todd and Dustin brought a Glock 18C to the class for us to put through its paces. I remember the first time I heard of the Glock machinegun, I figured that with its high cyclic rate, it would be near impossible to control. However, I have to tell you that it is very controllable. I was able to keep all the rounds on target, even shooting it with one hand. You could probably go through a 32 round mag in about 3 to 4 seconds with that thing. The G18C was a blast to shoot, and I found a new pistol to love; just too bad I can’t own one. Damn post-86 machinegun ban! Oh, well. I can still dream.

Nice! I love the way wood grips look on SIGs, but I hate how they feel. They are a bit too thick for my hands. I took the woods off my P220 Carry, and replaced them with the plastic grips.

Those are nice. Probably not real, though.

Computer hard drive needs replacing. Suggestions?
Reservoir Dog replied to Reservoir Dog's topic in General Chat
Update: I wound up ordering a Seagate 120GB hard drive from Newegg. Super quick shipping (it arrived the next day), as apparently they have a warehouse in Memphis. The Seagate drive had very good user ratings, and it has a 5 year warranty, so hopefully it will be a good choice. While I was at it, I doubled my RAM from 512MB to 1GB. I cloned my old hard drive onto the new one. Installation was a breeze, and everything is working perfectly. My 6 year old laptop has been brought back to life. Now, I am going to install Ubuntu on it, and give that a try. Thanks to everyone for their advice and information! -

AT&T coverage in TN? Im jones'n for an Iphone
Reservoir Dog replied to BimmerFreak's topic in General Chat
I have had Cingular/ATT service for the past three years. I have been very satisfied with their coverage and call quality. ATT's coverage area is not quite as good as Verizon, but it is very good, and improving.
