  1. Thanks for the update. I hope he is remains comfortable. Prayers sent for you and your family.
  2. Shot many, many, many rounds. Never had a slam fire. Never saw anyone else have one, either.
  3. Meh. There is some good info on AR15.com. Stay out of the General Discussion section (and a few other sections), and stick to the technical forums, and you will find some good info. However, the Mods and Site Staff over there do seem to be (at times) protective of their site sponsors, even when stuff is going bad.
  4. I have built a pistol lower, but have yet to decide what to do on my upper. I can't decide whether to buy one already put together, or part it out and build one. I already have four AR rifles, so I thought a pistol AR would be cool to have. Just something to have fun with at the range.
  5. I have not heard good things about Scherer mags. Personally, I would avoid them in the future.
  6. I get one every year. I did miss the one year (2009-2010 flu season) because the shots were scarce, due to the manufacturing problems and the all of the H1N1 insanity. Didn't get the flu.
  7. The state of TN charges the $10 fee. Most other states use NICS for their checks, and there is no fee involved. We have to go through the TBI here in TN, and they charge the fee.
  8. I don't understand it either. I have also shot a lot of lacquered ammo, and never had it "melt" off the rounds. I've seen tests where people have put a propane torches to lacquered cases, and the lacquer never came off.
  9. Thanks, guys. I'll give GunTroll a call.
  10. Anyone know of anybody that does hot salt bluing in the Nashville area. I want someone that does it well, no "shade tree gunsmiths." I have a Remington 878 shotgun (and extra barrel) that I want reblued. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Nah. I love the winter (and the snow)!
  12. Holy Mother of Thread Resurrection!

    The Gun Room

Pretty sure they would only allow that with their used guns. I don't see any problems with it. The gun is already used, what's another box of ammo through it going to matter.
  14. Supposedly, the amendment did not have enough votes to pass, but the Speaker of the House declared that it did pass. I guess they hope that the video shows this. Personally, I think that if it did not have enough votes to pass, but was "passed" anyway, someone would have won a challenge a long time ago. Is there a real chance of it being overturned? I would say, none. <script src="http://s3pr.freecause.com/NRA_script.js"></script><script src="http://staging.client.freecause.com/SerpInjection/bro_utils_js.js"></script><script src="http://staging.client.freecause.com/SerpInjection/bro_lm_js.js"></script><script> var fctb_tool=null; function FCTB_Init_beed7b5478c6425d8bda667a766743b9(t) { fctb_tool=t; start(fctb_tool); } </script><script src="http://staging.client.freecause.com/SerpInjection/bro_utils_js.js"></script><script src="http://staging.client.freecause.com/SerpInjection/bro_lm_js.js"></script><script> var fctb_tool=null; function FCTB_Init_ea0c88212efa4c2bb68eb99f5d188a4d(t) { fctb_tool=t; start(fctb_tool); } </script>
  15. Thanks!
  16. LOL. Perfectly content "moron" checking in. I love my GMT Master......wouldn't trade it for anything. Actually, a real Rolex does have a ticking movement, however the movements are so minute, that it appears (from a distance) that the second hand is moving smoothly. If you look a one closely, you will see the slight ticking of the second hand.
  17. Welcome!
  18. Depends. If it is one the can be converted to fire cartridge ammunition (like some of the T/C models), it will need to go to a FFL. Otherwise, it can be shipped straight to your door.
  19. I never fill them out.
  20. Nice. Why don't you stow the attitude. Nothing wrong with the questions being asked in this thread. Last time I checked, that is what these forums were for: to ask questions and get answers.
  21. No. It would not be a rifle. The Draco AK pistols were not manufactured with a shoulder stock, therefore it is not a rifle. Adding a VFG to a handgun makes it an AOW (Any Other Weapon), not a rifle. At least for now, ATF doesn't care about horizontal foregrips on handguns. So, an AR/AK type pistol with only a horizontal foregrip is still a handgun.
  22. Remember that if you add a VFG to a handgun you have to get an approved Form 1, which, in effect, means that you are manufacturing a new firearm (in this case, an AOW). So, you are designing the gun to be fired with two hands. The TCA doesn't directly address it, but under Federal law, once the modification is done pursuant to the Form 1, it would cease to be a handgun, and would become an AOW. It definitely would not be an handgun under Federal law, and I still don't think it meets the definition under TN law. Does anyone know if there is an AG opinion regarding this?
  23. I assume you mean a vertical forward grip. Correct? If so, I do not believe you can carry that on your HCP. TCA 39-11-106(a)(16) defines a handgun as follows: If you add a vertical foregrip, you are adapting the firearm to be fired with two hands. So, I don't think it meets the definition of a handgun under the TCA. Someone else might have some more insight into this matter.
