1.
Well technically if it attaches to the FSB it's not a free float. Yes you can add a two piece rail and thy would be much simpler, but it wouldn't be a free float.
I never said they attached to the FSB, I said that it doesn't need to be removed. The Daniel Defense (Omega Rail) and the Samson (STAR-C) are both free-floating rail systems that can be installed without removing the FSB or muzzle device. The DD Omega Rail locks into the delta ring, and is secured with set screws. The STAR-C requires that the delta ring assembly be removed, and then it clamps down on the barrel nut. Neither of these rail systems attach to the FSB.
2. If you have paid your debt to society (served sentence and off probation/parole), and it was for a non-violent crime......then, yes. You should be able to get your rights restored. If you committed a crime involving violence....then, no. Too bad. You should have thought about your actions beforehand.
3.
yep I am wanting to install free floating rails, and from my understanding the flash hidder needs to be removed.
That depends on the rail system. Samson and Daniel Defense make nice free-float systems that will mount without the need to remove the flash hider or FSB, and i am sure there are others out there. I would shop around for one of those, and see if they fit your needs. Removing a pinned and welded muzzle device is a major pain in the ass, particularly if the weld is over the pin hole (which most of what I have seen). The pin would probably have to be drilled out with a drill press.
4. Yeah, it is a big loop to the south of Nashville. Personally, I don't think it will be any quicker unless you will be going through Nashville during rush hour.
5.
They're tapered, need to come out from left to right:
Don't get caught up in "left to right" or "right to left" when it comes to taper pins. I have seen plenty that had to be tapped out the opposite direction of what they were "supposed" to go out. Always look for the smaller end of the pin, and tap it out from that side. The pins may come easily, other times..........not so much. If they are difficult, put some penetrating oil on them and let them set for a while, then try again.
6. You may be able to get away with medium rings. I know several people who use medium rings with a 50mm scope. It all depends on the barrel profile, and the type of rings. I would give the mediums a try first, then move up to high if you need to.
7.
You've correctly matched 19 perps in 50 lineups (38%)
I think I did decently. There is some scary people on that site!
8. Yep. The mini shells will not cycle reliably in pumps or semi-autos. Save them for single shots or double barrels.
9. As others have stated, the actual process of checking in a gun takes probably 10 minutes, and that is if the sender sent all of the proper paperwork (FFL or DL copy). The real issue is what other shipments the dealer receives. If it is a large gun store with a lot of inventory, then they might get 20, 30, 40 boxes a day delivered, and one box may contain multiple firearms. Then it becomes a question of when your shipment gets opened........it may be the first or it may be the last. Smaller shops may not have the necessary staff to get it logged in immediately, and may log in guns after they close that day. Either way, do not assume that your gun will be ready for pickup 15 minutes after UPS/FedEx/USPS shows that it was delivered to the store. Your shop should call you when it is ready. At the minimum, give them a call before you make the trip to the shop. That will avoid the disappointment of making the trip for nothing.
10. Go to the one in Shelbyville. You will be in and out in no time.
11. Hmmm. Never knew there was a "police qualification myth." Having worked in LE, I found the qual courses to be quite easy, but I had a lot of shooting background before going in. The vast majority of LE qual courses exist merely to set a departmental minimum standard for liability reasons, so that the department can say "hey, the officer passed/failed our standards." It keeps the lawyers happy. They are usually static quals (like our HCP class), with no moving and shooting. Personally, I despise LE qual courses, and feel they are detriment to the officer by teaching more bad habits than good. They need to be more dynamic: more running and gunning, more use of cover/concealment, more clearing of jams, etc... I agree with DaveTN, I feel that the average shooter could pass a LE qual course (with a minimal amount of practice) without any problems. An IDPA/IPSC/USPSA shooter would blow through the course quite easily. The average citizen would have more problems, and probably would not pass without a good deal of training and practice.
12. I have gotten a flu shot every year for the past 15 years or so. Never gotten the flu. I will be getting the shot this year, as well.
13. You don't say, but I gather you are talking about a Glock pistol. You might want to post the model and generation, as well.
14. Yes, if you do not have a TN HCP, then the rifle must be unloaded, and the ammo must be completely separate from the firearm. You cannot have a loaded mag next to the firearm. Edit: FYI - If you have a MT permit and you become a TN resident, you must obtain a TN HCP within 6 months of moving here if you want to continue carrying a firearm.
15. You spend far too much time on websites like WND and Alex Jones. DHS is simply buying ammo for their agencies. Nothing more. Excellent explanation. Hopefully people will read it. It's sad when our representatives and the NRA have to take time away from legitimate issues to deal with this tinfoil BS.
16. Sure you can. Those steel bullet traps are much tougher than your average civilian. But let us not discuss the specifics, as DHS may put us in a FEMA camp.
17. I don't know where you got this idea, but you are flat out wrong. I have worked for several LE agencies an the federal and state level, and we always practiced/qualified with our carry ammo. All hollowpoints, all the time. Even during the academies, it was hollowpoints. The government has massive contracts for these types of things, especially Homeland Security, which has quite a few gun toting agencies. The also have the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, which does a lot of firearms training. It is cheaper in the long run to stick with one type of ammo, that way do not have to contract, procure, store and distribute two different types of ammo.
18. The article discusses the 2001 Programme of Action, which has been around since........well......2001. That is not the Small Arms Treaty recently in the news. They are two different entities. While the POA is still bad, it is voluntary and non-binding......unlike what the Treaty would have been. The Arms Treaty is dead for now, but I am sure the UN will still be pushing in the future.
19. As others have said, there is no "must inform" requirement. You are only required to show your HCP if the officers asks to see it. The language in the TCA reads;
20. GOA may be a fine organization, but they do not have anywhere near the influence of the NRA I want to put my money where it will be the most effective, and that is with the NRA.
21. Aside from a couple of good lines, I cringed through most of his speech. I love Clint Eastwood. He is a great actor/director, but he is not a good speaker. Earlier in the day, a guy on Fox News commented that they were going to allot 5 minutes for Eastwood to speak, and that was about 4 minutes and 30 seconds longer than needed.
22. Sad day. RIP Neil.
23. +1 Enquiring minds want to know!
24. Glad we finally got the official word. I had talked to my local gun shop manager, and he saw no problems with doing that type of transfer. I also placed a call to the ATF office here in Nashville, but did not get my call returned.
