  1. I think more than likely I'll cannibalize the Aimpoint off of my Scout Squad for the class and just save those funds towards another class. Waste not, want not I suppose.
  2. I guess I've never truly understood the market for compacts. If I need concealability I'll go with a single stack small weapon and if I need firepower, full size. The inbetween market has always seemed to baffle me BUT this is my own personal opinion, take that as you will.
  3. Heh heh, Clint-isms. :D
  4. Very interesting, this was a pretty darn good test.
  5. One or two of these I disagree with but for the most part seems like sound advice;   1. Bring a gun. Preferably, bring at least two guns. Bring all of your friends who have guns. 2. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap – life is expensive. 3. Only hits count. The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss. 4. If your shooting stance is good, you’re probably not moving fast enough or using cover correctly. 5. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. (Lateral and diagonal movement are preferred.) 6. If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a long gun and a friend with a long gun. 7. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived. 8. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating, reloading, and running. 9. Accuracy is relative: most combat shooting standards will be more dependent on “pucker factor” than the inherent accuracy of the gun. Use a gun that works EVERY TIME. “All skill is in vain when an Angel blows the powder from the flintlock of your musket.” 10. Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty. 11. Always cheat, always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose. 12. Have a plan. 13. Have a back-up plan, because the first one won’t work. 14. Use cover or concealment as much as possible. 15. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours. 16. Don’t drop your guard. 17. Always tactical load and threat scan 360 degrees. 18. Watch their hands. Hands kill. (In God we trust. Everyone else, keep your hands where I can see them.) 19. Decide to be aggressive ENOUGH, quickly ENOUGH. 20. The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get. 21. Be polite. Be professional. But, have a plan to kill everyone you meet. 22. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one. 23. Your number one option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation. 24. Do not attend a gun fight with a handgun, the caliber of which does not start with anything smaller than “4″. 25. You can’t miss fast enough to win. 6. And here I thought .45 caused people to vaporize, huh...
  7. An excellent idea, especially to do during the winter to test the capabilities of ones own preparations. The military performs exercises all the time to ensure concise reaction to specific situations, we as preppers should be doing just the same. It's why I'm going to attend several tactical courses this coming year and "try" to prolong or forgo any firearms purchases and just invest in ammo and training as I've never had any formal weapons training at all. I'm familiar with the concepts and ideas but still need some, well maybe alot, instruction.
  8. They look like those pictures you see of prototype cars at test tracks so that their lines in photos are very hard to discern to thwart competitor/media-spying/leaks.
  9. My apologies dear boy, I skimmed your questions and missed a couple. As far as I am aware of, Century only adds enough parts to make these 922R compliant, I don't think they do much else of anything regarding assembling. I understand why you'd ask, it IS Century and all. As far as reliability is concerned, it's an AK. Mystery solved. ;) And mags fit really to fairly tight on the ones I've played with. Not much wobble. Sights have been good to go on all the ones I've fondled as well.
  10. Indeed, it's kinda the grandfather to the .357Sig/.400CorBon concept. Not to mention can make Swiss cheese of 3A vests in close proximity.
  11. That's a nifty whatchamacallit. Sent from the future using a flux capacitor.
  12. :search: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/83801-yugo-n-pap-from-classic-firearms/  ;)
  13. The accelerator issue that got that family in California killed? You mean where they put all-weather mats on top of carpet mats where it clearly states to not do that right on the mats? Also people removing the clips retaining their mats in place might have had issue with this as well. Thus peoples own prerogative got them killed in some cases. Pertaining to the clock-spring issue, there is no excuse there for their actions. I wasn't aware that this too was swept under the rug like GM's. We only started issuing the recalls recently and apparently some dealerships were notified of the issue and what to watch for as they had an inkling that it may become prevalent. If they had ANY inkling, action should have been taken immediately, but then I'm not a corporate fat cat... Not trying to sound like a buttocks, just going off the information that I have at my disposal. My opinion is subject to change depending on data. ;)   "Mfg. Campaign No. N/A - Accelerator Pedal. DOM: 1/03-6/03. If retention clip used to secure floor carpet cover is missing, cover can interfere with operation of accelerator pedal when pedal is depressed to nearly full throttle position. Accelerator pedal can become stuck and result in vehicle crash. Correct by replacing retention clip and floor carpet cover. (This action is Safety Improvement Campaign not being conducted under National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.)"       But back to the topic at hand, I still stand by Remington's decision to issue the recall, even if many of the guns they've been churning out have been garbage BUT, that being said, they do need to get their act together. They're doing the opposite of what Taurus did and have been getting worse and worse, with the R51, 700 recall, 887 recall, and even the Ultra Mags have a magazine feed issue. I found a vid of it on youtube at one point, I'll see if I can't dig it up. **Mind the language, lol. http://youtu.be/ykJM2cP8uHc
  14. Daddy like....... What muzzle device is that? Surefire?

    H&K VP9

I like the charging ears(wings, or whatever they're called) on the back of the slide, that is a REALLY neat and innovative idea that I hope more designers and manufacturers pick up on.
  16. Gotcha, thanks for the replies all. I think I'll probably snag a couple of the new Vortex Spitfires. I got to play with one the other day and was THOROUGHLY impressed by its quality and clarity. Reticle was similar to an EoTech minus the appearance of that "fuzz" as I call it. It was really sweet and Aim has em for $249.99 shipped. CDNN also has the Trijicon Docter sights for $269.99 which I think is a steal but I think that's a pistol optic or do any know if it can handle a rifle's shock(yeah, I know. .223 isn't much of a shock but I still want that peace of mind, lol.)?
  17. I've never seen a proprietary lower that uses different parts except say Colt on the older models with the different sized trigger pins and front takedown being that weird screw and the ambi lowers for their specialty parts that make them ambi but those use the same takedown mounts from everything I've seen.
  18. Working in the automotive industry has led me to the belief that I'm more willing to trust a company that is truthful enough to come out and say, "hey, we @#$%ed up."(such as Toyota though this may a lil biased) rather than a company whose mission is to bury the recall and make it as low profile as possible to save face and suppress a PR nightmare(such as GM with the Cobalt that has gotten numerous people killed which they knew about 1 year prior to the official announcement).
  19. EAA Witness 10mm. Badass AND affordable, doesn't get much more awesome than that. And Sonny Crockett would be proud, you can always add that to the cool factor. :D Sent from the future using a flux capacitor.
  20. Welcome to the forum, er Darkside, cousin.
  21. Welcome from directly north of you cousin!
  22. Welcome home cousin.
  23. I have a mere question pertaining to optics on your weapon for Fighting Rifle; can one have a ranged optic on their weapon for this training? I have a 3-9x42, just curious if I'd be good to go to use this during training or if I'd need to acquire a CQB optic for the class. They seem to repeat the antonym of "train how you fight, fight how you train." but that would be kind of useless if my go-gun uses an optic and I'm not trained on it. Just looking for input gents. My class isn't until May so I think I'm good in the get prepared department.
  24. I believe that one is beefier with parts on par with an RPK, such as the trunion and receiver width while the other is built like a standard Yugo but don't ask me which is which and even then I could be wrong on that description.
