  1. ^ I have a similar setup in my shop. Thought about filling the block with sand to make a heat sink, but unfilled it works like a champ as a reflector and heat blocker from the wall.
  2. Gentlemen, thanks for the input. I welcome any other thoughts as well. It is much appreciated.
  3. Interesting. I know the model is the Old Vaquero, it's in box with original everything. Looks unfired
  4. Thanks for the clarification Batman. And Red I appreciate the input also. Is it rare to find the vaquero with box, papers, and spare acp cyl?
  5. The best part is you love your gun! The coolest thing about these calibers is seeing everyone that is around you look when you rip a couple off. I'm assuming the 5.7 is similar, huge concussion and fireball the size of a beach ball?!
  6. I have a possible trade on a gun, and the choices are a Ruger Old Vaquero in stainless or a Red Hawk in stainless plus another gun. My questions are as follows, and I'll begin googling, but figured there was first hand knowledge here that is more valuable to me than google results... 1) is there a difference or does a standard Red Hawk exist? I've looked online, but only see Super Red Hawk. Btw it's a .44 2) the approximate value on above gun? It appears to be in lnib condition. 3) the Old Vaquero comes with a spare .45 apc cylinder. There are huge variations in pricing online, just looking for a ball park if anyone has seen them bought or sold recently. 4) General thoughts on both models? Pro's / cons? This will be my first step into big bore revolvers, and don't have much experience with values/pros/cons ect. Thanks!
  7. This was my concern even though in my mind I know they are great guns. This is why I ended up with the 22 TCM from Armscorp. Similar ballistics, except mine is in nice and heavy metal 1911 frame! I'd love to meet at a range sometime and swap guns for 5 min and feel the differences.
  8. If you had that much usage while it was not being played, the likelihood is possible that his PC is acting as the host of the gaming, or has some software (malware, ect) that is causing some serious web traffic even while unattended. Check your router settings (upload / download usage) to see what is higher. The majority of users out there have a much higher download rate. But if the upload traffic is heavy, there could be a piece of software that allows traffic out (google uTorrent). I used uTorrent (to download free ware legally) to test some software one time, and came back a few days later and realized it opened a port and allowed other users to download that same software from me as the host. That sucked some serious data.
  9. That or the dog was mangy. I've seen some that we were going to work the hides, but after about an hour in the back of the truck we realized they were infested with fleas/bugs ect. Still no excuse for dumping at the gate tho.
  10. Just a thought, was it shot? Or show any signs of being in a trap? My only thought of any reason would be similar to what some do to hogs. Block the mouth open in prep for taxidermy so it has a specific look to the face? If there was no sign of cause if death (gun shot, trap/snare marks, ect) I would def call and let the local wardens know. (Probably even let them know anyway simply for the dumping near the gate)
  11. A couple things you can check and do on the network side: Since the gaming PC is the only "change" to activity and data has increased since this came online, I would start there. Normally the gaming itself doesn't eat tons of juice(basically just sending coordinates) , but if his PC is the "host" it can destroy data usage. You are hosting the heavy usage piece of the game, plus all the traffic from the other gamers hits too! If you are familiar with a router, you can log into the console and blacklist the URL's that he is playing on for a couple days to isolate the concern. Long in the short, you can reset your usage "counter" on the router, then blacklist the sights. Go 2 days and note the amount of data used. Reset the usage counter again and open the router back up, go 2 days and note the usage again. If usage is exponentially higher, you know immediately the culprit is indeed the gaming and then can address however you choose at that point. Feel free to pm me if you need any guidance on the router piece.
  12. I have a better chance of hitting one going down the road than winning the draw
  13. Try the freezer trick yet? it has a tendency to get stuck things unstuck
  14. you may want to check out the Rock Island 22 TCM. Especially if there is any fondness of the 1911 platform. I have one and love it. Also they debuted the single stack commander length model at SHOT this year. My version is the A2 double stack that holds 19. It averages about 2100 fps and the ammo is about $25 a box and is readily available. Plus you can get dies and actually reload this fairly easily once you dial everything in.
  15. Next step, run for office
  16. I'll head out likely. Only since it's close to home. Anyone else decide to go shoot me a pm and I'll introduce myself if we cross paths there
  17. Eastern coyotes can be tough. Not eastern tn per se, but coyotes around our parts like the woods. It's all about them feeling comfortable and something about a big open field usually says "something bad might happen to me" to the dogs. I hunt 90% woods. The good news is it's mating time, and like bucks tend to think with the wrong end and can become a little more lax. Hunted in the woods the other day and got smoked by one at less than 10 yards. In and out quick and you gotta be ready. I've changed my tactics some and either carry an ar pistol or shotgun now. Last 5 have been within 25 yards
  18. Don't let my wife see it!
  19. Throw her in the freezer over night then pop it right out in the morning. Works tons of things. Bearings, stuck bolts, she'll casings ect.
  20. Dave, I believe you are the real winner in this one! Nothing like doing something for someone (or several in this case) just because. Congrats sir. I know you had a huge smile while writing the list and what the lucky young ones got. And hopefully they will see what generosity can due to an unsuspecting person and one day in turn pay it forward!
  21. Shoot over the first 3 or 4, then whack one lol
  22. I've been off the "can" since October 2012. Was the hardest thing I've ever quit. And I remember the date as quickly as I remember my aniversary. Took getting Wellbutrin from the doc. All I can say, is I nevermiss it, rarely think about it now, and doesn't make me want it when someone opens up a can. Best thing I've ever done for myself and I feel better now than I did 10 years ago. Trying to get a buddy of mine to quit now, but realized one thing. You gotta want to quit for it to work. Can't do it for anyone but you!
  23. I got burned on millet last year. Not sure what got it, but I'd have had better luck taking popcorn kernels out and planting them than I did with 900 lbs of millet. I kept thinking, I'm sure it's gonna grow. Soil tested, limed, ect and no dice. Going back to clover, peas, and turnips this year
  24. Glad to hear he's doing better Slappy. Like Luke, racing motor cross in the past exposed me to some pretty messed up stuff(both me and friends), and you staying calm and helps more than most know. There is nothing like a person that goes ape when someone gets hurt, complicates the whole situation.
  25. Cool gesture Slappy!   I was the lucky winner of a TDR benefactor giveaway, and like you i felt inclined to pay it forward with a few items myself. Count me in my man!
