  1. I bought a kit from TSC that has a door and flue kit made of cast iron. It takes an old 55 gallon metal drum and converts it into a wood burning stove. I have a 30x30 and it heats it very nicely. Dead of winter I was in the low 60's when I kept it burning. And for summer I got an automatic attic vent fan that kicks on at whatever temp you set it to. Keeps it from becoming a sweat shop during the summer. If you are near Lebanon ever I'd be glad to show you my setup.
  2. Welcome neighbor
  3. Depends on the paint on whether the Chem mixture will harm it. Find a small place, most think of a closet first, but usually those are painted flat white with builder grade paint. If the closets are the same color give it a try. If not, start I'm a small inconspicuous spot and see if it makes the paint bleed or come off on the rag
  4. Gonna try to make it. Shooting the Georgia State match Saturday, gonna be tired but looking forward to some steel!
  5. No pictures, but I shot a tall spike yesterday evening, and as I was getting out of the ladder stand I saw a VERY big rack bounce away at about 30 yards...gonna let things calm down on that place and go back to try to catch him later.
  6. Hope to see the new toy/tool in action soon!
  7. Welcome to TGO neighbor. Lots of opportunity for pistol competitions around here. Something going about every weekend and some during the week at night. And definitely welcome new faces to the matches.
  8. I agree with hipower. If you ever choose to run it in ESP, a lot of magwells for the gen 4 require the medium back strap essentially doing away with any advantage of the changeable back strap benefit of the gen 4. I'm almost to the point of doing a dremel grip reduction on mine since I have smaller hands. Just hard to make the leap and start grinding.
  9. There are lots of matches around Nashville. There just about isn't a weekend that goes by that doesn't offer some type of shooting competition. And all are beginner friendly! Check out www.MCTSclub.com for the schedule of events. Or pm me if you want to talk about it. I'll do my best to steer you in the right direction.
  10. It's a gen 3. I'll have a gen 2 17 with me as well.
  11. If you're going to be at the Armory Tuesday night you're welcome to run my 34. It's not stock by any means, but will give you a feel for how it handles. Can also bring a stock 17 if you want to feel the difference and how they shoot for comp. Fyi magwell and +.200 bases are REALLY pushing it to fit in the box!
  12. Yep. Had I shot when I first saw the two, I'd have orphaned one of the yearlings. They were at 30 yards, but I tend to be more patient lately, and now glad I waited. The yearlings didn't appear for 3 or 4 min after the does walked out.
  13. It is. Tva bush hogged the lines and I am taking advantage of it. Had 2 does with a yearling each come out about 345. Nice to see them and let them walk.
  14. View from the tripod I put up last winter. Sitting here now enjoying the hot sun! Glad I brought the ThermaCell!
  15. My 686 is by far my favorite wheel gun now
  16. Thanks to all the staff and SO's for putting on such an incredibly challenging but fun match!
  17. I had that issue once. I Quickly identified that I wasn't pushing the shoulders back enough just like others have said. I colored the case with a dry erase marker and it confirmed what others said.
  18. All my rear sights are either black aftermarket or custom "sharpie" black. Much easier for me to find the bead...
  19. Looking like sunny and a high of 64. Gonna be a great day!
  20. The only thing I got was poison ivy...and saw what I figure to be the worlds largest possum attempt to get out of a tree. To be exact, it was the tree I was sitting in. It made it to about 6 feet above me before I sensed something and then quickly responded to its hissing! Down I went and headed home after that
  21. There is no shortage of matches around us. Not just IDPA, but USPSA, Outlaw Steel, 3 gun, ect. If you want a schedule of some of the events coming up PM me. I shoot as many competitions as I can schedule allowing and can point you in the right direction as well as a few other folks on here. If you want to see a great shoot with a lot of challenging stages, you should consider coming to the Music City Cup IV presented by BladeTech this Saturday Oct 4th at MCTS in Dickson. There are lots of great people there that you can watch and learn from. You would need to be an IDPA member and have a current classification to shoot, but if not it would still be exciting to watch if you are interested in getting into it.
  22. Welcome to TGO neighbor
  23. Scores are posted https://www.practiscore.com/results.php?uuid=F11F3335-CF1E-49E0-8004-ECD4BDCEAE20
  24. If you need a bow to borrow just say the word. I've got my bow fishing rig (4 o 5 year old matthews) that we can convert back in 10 min and have it going for you Still shoots good, just need to torque it down some and get the draw weight back up to deer levels...
  25. Good luck in the morning bro.
