If anyone is overly worried about it just make sure your lower is listed as "other" on the 4473 and have it engraved "pistol", "AR Pistol Only" or something along those lines. Like the other poster just said, it's a tack on charge. If you're just a normal enthusiast like the rest of us and aren't dabbling in other very illegal stuff you don't have anything to worry about.

How would the ATF know about a transfer? In arkansas, my FFL doesn't even send anything in. It's just books he writes in along with the 4473. He doesn't even have to run background if you have a valid ccw
-
I built an AR pistol and did some research on it and talked a lot to my FFL. The lower doesn't have to be engraved "pistol". If you purchase a stripped lower then the FFL transfers it as "other" because it is not a pistol or a rifle. YOU can't tell the FFL what you want it marked. ExAmple, I asked my FFL to mark it pistol on the transfer but he couldn't because it wasn't a pistol. So theoretically, yes you could convert a pistol to a rifle and back to a pistol later without any repercussions but if you have a lower that was transferred a "rifle", you cannot make it a pistol. And no, it's not likely any local LEOs will have any idea unless they are an enthusiast like ourselves, the rules are vague, change and are subject to interpretation. On my AR pistol, the ATF has repeatedly issued statements saying the magpul AFG is legal but I don't cArry it in my car with an AFG on because I don't want to get in a "discussion" with an ill informed LEO on the side of the road. Easier just to leave it off.

I've purchased and sold several gen4 glocks this year and none were made in the USA. What models and when are they US made?
-
I also have GLOCKitis but can't stand the double stack 45. I'm 6' with long fingers but just don't like them. All my glocks are 9mm. If you weekend shoot a lot, try a g34! My fav.
-
Thanks for the help. I was at the gun show yesterday and Dave the Glock guy put them on for $5 and threw in a few plastic Glock keychains! Nice guy. He liked my trigger job, just polished, 3.5 connector and rounded titanium plunger.
-
Ha thanks.... No luck with a punch (plastic tip bent to hell). Anyone else?
-
Anyone in the Memphis or Jackson area with an installation tool to install the rear sight on a GLOCK that would be willing to meet me somewhere? I hate dropping $150 on a tool for one use. Chris

My friend and his wife each just got one in .40 and 9mm respectively. I was joking with her how guys "have" to get .40 then complain about ammo prices. She said he was complaining about it while walking out lol. Anyway both of theirs have been flawless. Any man made product can have a defect but I would encourage you to contact the manufacturer and post how it's handled first. Give them a fair chance to make it right .

Downtown Memphis & Beale St. Carry Question
Kopis replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
There are only metal detectors on the weekend nights usually. You can always breeze past and check if you want. I prefer to OC downtown but can't always do so if venturing to certain establishments. -
My humble opinion is stay out unless your life is in danger.
-
Yeah if it's 65mph,ill ease past them at 70 but no one else ever does. I've got nothing to hide. If a cop comes up behind me, I'll speed up and move over so he/she can continue on their way and I've never been stopped.

I half ass open carry in the winter and cooler months with a OTW comp tac paddle or carry my kimber CDP in cross draw. When my jacket or shirt blows open no one notices. I'm surprised. I'm very vigilant to what is happening around me at all times. Most people are just oblivious I guess.

Would-be robber didn't see this coming
Kopis replied to Erik88's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Being aware of your surroundings at all times is the key! Glad he came away unscathed -
I know this is old but why didn't you let him pass? It doesn't matter if you are doing 100mph, you should have moved over. In Europe, you're more likely to be ticketed for impeding him rather than speeding. I don't get why we feel we own the road in the US and must enforce traffic laws by riding in the left lane or not letting someone pass. Anyway, open carry definitely can de escalate situations when the holder is calm and non threatening. Sounds like you handled it well.

I saw a guy at Walmart buy three boxes of 22s(550 count), his wife bought three and he came back in and bought the last three. People like this are causing the ammo shortage. What are you going to do with 5000 .22s? I bought two 550s over a year ago and still have 1.5 boxes left.

Lol, great test!

I still have my ruger 10/22 that I was given as my first firearm! I'm sure he'll make a lot of good memories with that.

I can personally attest to this. I was involved in a car accident in college. I struck a lady who was dead stopped on the interstate at night to look at a fatality accident on the opposite side. Her story was that I was doing over 100mph in my 90hp diesel jetta. Anyway I had posted in my TDI forum that I hit some dumb/ retarded lady stopped on the interstate. I forget exactly what I said. Anyway first day on the stand, her attorney asks me if I am username blah and hands me some printouts. He used what u said to attack my character because I had referenced her as "retarted"

I got two hogues on my cqb and long range. Just tried a magpul on a 7.5" pistol and love it! I may switch now
-
I'd love a 7.62 AR for the cheap steel ammo. I have an RRA 20". I just replaced the barrel with a white oaks armament 1:7 and a custom linear comp. oh and a Giselle two stage trigger. Loving it!

Wicked edge system.

I was auditing my company's locations. If there was a Walmart nearby, I would stop. Company car and gas so it doesn't cost me anything.

I know there is four pages but I'll say any mil spec rifle is pretty much as good as the next. I've shot a high standard, rock river, dpms, Yankee hill, seekins and spikes. Can't tell a difference even when you strip them. If they have nicer parts like a trigger or chrome bolt, it's all interchangeable. AK if you never want it to let you down.

If the mags are loaded, don't come a knocking!
