Wish I could help with the job. I have been out of work for over a year since my wife transfered to Memphis. I am having lunch tomorrow with some friends that live in Midtown. I will ask them if they know of anything in the area.

+1. Skinner sights and a set of springs and you will have sweet little rifle. I love mine.

I have friends that live near Overton Park and love it. I like Overton Park. I have run many races there and it is nice. Memphis is like most large cities I have lived in, situational awareness is key. That said, I live out in the Shelby Forest, out in the woods, with large dogs and guns.

I got a better idea. I will hold them off if you will hump all the gear to high ground. Then I will run and catch up to you.

I think this is a good post. And it should be considered for more than just the SHTF situations. Lets face it everyday is a potential SHTF day. I personally think part of my SHTF preparation is physical fitness. I usually do some sort of exercise 5 to 7 times a week. I can run 26. (Hoping to do a 50miler later this year.) Is this overkill possibly. But it gives me peace of mind, and if I can't out fight you I know I can out run you. Taken from the JFK 50 miler website. In 1963, the initial inspiration behind the event came from then President John F. Kennedy challenging his military officers to meet the requirements that Teddy Roosevelt had set for his own military officers at the dawn of the 20th Century. That Roosevelt requirement was for all military officers to be able to cover 50 miles on foot in 20 hours to maintain their commissions.

I have both. The 22-250 is a barn burner, which with the right bullets could be used for deer. The 243 is no slouch, with 55gr bullets in an 18in barrel I am getting almost 3500fps, and I would think it would have the edge with heavier bullets at long range. I am getting ready to sell my 22-250 barrel and replace it with a 6.5 cal round, just haven't decided on which one.

My CBOB is my favorite pistol. I currently use a Milt Sparks Summer Comfort holster.

That is another good suggestion. Several of the folks at RUSA carry 1911's (them high dollar ones).

Dave is a master. I love his work. There are a million things you can do with a 1911. Dropping in a new trigger is fairly easy. You will need to adjust the overtravel. But it isn't hard. Some slop is ok. I know this will sound boring. But knowing what I know now about 1911's I would buy a large stock of ammo and shoot the snot our of it. You will be much more familiar with the pistol, then start making changes. COTEP (47)

Hard to beat a 45-70. It can be loaded from mild to wild. Even at mild with a 405 gr slug at 14 or 1500FPS I don't see it lacking.

Hard not to take the bait sometimes.

This may be true. I have fired thousands of 200 lswc's through my 1911's with nary a problem. I don't run hot loads, and I do clean them, but I have gone through sessions of 500 rounds or more without cleaning and had no issues.
-
There you go.

Make sure you keep it WELL lubed during break in. The DW's are tight and should be kept wet for the first couple of hundred rounds.

I have the octagon barreled H001t. It is an awesome little rifle. Very slick action and great accuracy. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.
-
I apologize if I offended anyone. I did say "tinker" not "butcher." I have owned several 1911's. I have a CBOB on my hip now. People love to "tinker" with the triggers on 1911's, myself included. It is easy to make one unsafe in a hurry, with no malice. You are a stand up guy for helping to make it right.
-
That is my concern. Without tearing it down you can't tell what someone might have done to the pistol. If the over travel screw is coming loose I would bet someone has been tinkering.
-
It does sound like you might have a problem with the sear. If it is doubling I would not shoot it until it has been repaired. Try the 1911 forums. These guys are great. Dan Wesson - 1911Forum

A new furnace and fridge. Bah Humbug.

I have seen the same behavior towards customers at Guns and *******s in Memphis. I watched an employee answer the phone. It appeared the caller wanted to know if they had a couple of firearms. The staff member got frustrated and told the caller to come to the shop. Then hung up the phone. He then loudly berated the caller. If he worked for me I would have fired him on the spot.

My wife and I ran it. It was a great race. But lord was it cold. I was fine after I finished. Then I couldn't stay warm. Next year I will be smart and check a bag with some warm dry cloths. Come out and run the Swamp Stomper!

Good holster for the money. -
Definition of: load coil A device placed into a telephone circuit between the end office and the subscriber to step up the voltage and compensate for signal loss due to bridged taps. The load coil is an inductive device that acts as a high-frequency choke and must be removed if the line is converted to high-speed digital use. As digital service (digital loop carrier) is moved closer to the customer and the analog lines become shorter, load coils are no longer required. See bridged tap. They do need to be removed. Why ATT won't do the work is a mystery. I would apply the "squeaky wheel" to this problem. Bitch and moan until you get somebody will to do their job. The whole, "if you see a truck out your way" thing is bizarre. Those guys are running tickets and won't be able to stop or divert to something that they haven't been "dispatched" to.

I have this one. It works well.
