Nullifying NFA/Class 3 laws.
espacef1fan replied to espacef1fan's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
My friend's proposal to replace the current system while keeping the SPIRIT of the law in place, public safety/PIECE OF MIND for the sheep. "basically I'd have to take an additional course and get proof of it and take that to the court house that issued my CCW. They would issue me a New CCW with the Automatic Weapon endorsement on it. I would HAVE to have this and provide it upon attempting to purchase an automatic weapon. I would also have to keep a copy of my "Training Certification" in the safe where the weapon(s) are to be stored. Other than that there would be a database solely for automatic weapons that would have the info entered for my purchase within 24 hours. If I wanted to sell of transfer it in any way It would have to go through an FFL and the transferee would also have to have the same endorsement in order to receive it from me." -
How does everyone feel about th eidea of nullifying NFA/Class 3 laws so you could just walk to the nearest gun shop and buy a suppressor or full auto whatever without any more hassle than is involved with buying a pistol? I'm having a discussion with a friend right now, just wondering what everyone feels about this.

More of a house gun/fun gun. I guess it( 1911) matches up with my M1 Garand (Current house gun...YIKES right?) I agree that a striker pistol or DA/SA pistol makes a better carry gun.

I believe I am headed down this road, slowly but surely.

I've fired many pistols, but never owned one. Yet here I am on the cusp of buying a 1911. I have the option to get a Glock in 45ACP at almost half the price with more magazine capacity(among many other options that are "better") , but yet I am still drawn toward a 1911. I'll admit alot of it is aesthetics. But there is still that "something" it has that draws me to it. Anyone else feel this way about 1911s?

Ill save my military memories for any TGO meet I attend.

Get a new seat, lower the pegs, get bar risers and a new windshield. It will be a GREAT solo sport tour rig for you.

The silver one is for sale or trade ;)

I have shot a 1911, however I am deployed, and my wife has not fired a 1911 before. So far in her shopping, she likes 1911s the best( a keeper right?) I want her to have a chance at shooting one to be sure she likes it before I buy one. I live in Clarksville, TN I am guessing what I want requires a trip to or near Nashville, that is no big deal. I am mostly looking for some good references on a place for this. Thoughts? Recommendations?

A friend of mine just told me to buy the Sig 1911. He said if I hate it, he would buy it from me for what I paid for it. Bold endorsement. Hm... Did some more searching, lots of people LOVE them. My next two choices are a Glock in .45 or a XDm .45...but once I buy either one of those, I imagine I would be wondering what if I had paid just a few hundred more?

Mark that would awesome. I get home in May so I would guess June or early July sometime would be the start of some free time for me. It would be great to learn some stuff from someone "in the know" ! Ill be in touch for sure!

Is there a shop in the Nashville area that has lots of C&R guns?

I understand the paperwork. How bad is the work to put a buttstock on a AK pistol?

summitgunbroker looks interesting, especially since he doesn't seem to be on the price gouging band wagon.

Were those unit orders through SIG? Option #2 for me is to just wait two months until I get home and buy something on the market, but because of the situation politically prices are through the roof everywhere, though I do have a line on a P220 in stainless for $800. If I wait though I would rather spend around $400-$600 honestly. Doesn't have to be a 1911. Just something my wife and I both enjoy.

They teach gradually squeeze until the shot "surprises" you. Not very scientific but it gets the point across well enough that people figure out the rest of it and can get steel on target downrange.
-
That has been my assesment from looking around. I've always wanted a 45. But not sure if the the SIGs are good? Hence the thread. The piston ARs I emntioned are sweet..especially the 716....7.62!!!!!!! But I have a Garand and Mosin M44 already..so..

Thats pretty awesome! Thanks!

Or I can get a P226 scorpion for $939 (meh...9mm) Or a .40 cal P250....DAO trigger...buying before trying is kind of worrisome for me, though $440 seems like an ok price? There are rifles available too, but no sure I am ready to throw down $1300 or $1600 for a 516 or 716..especially since I already have two other rifles and no pistols...
-
The reason for considering the SIG is due to a price which I feel is awesome. $840 gets all of this: -1911 railed pistol(either a Nitron or XO model? cant tell from the info available) -CPL-1 laser -holster with integrated mag pouch -2 8rd mags -speed loader -case It is brand new and will be built upon receipt of order( has custom engravings, its a commemorative unit purchase)

I've never ordered ammo online before. I live in TN. Is there any special requirements other than a photo ID and being old enough that you must meet to be able to order ammo online?
-
I've heard all kinds of horror stories about SIG 1911s and functioning issues. The purpose of this pistol if I buy it would be home defense primarily, with the possibility of getting my CCW later and carrying it. I would likely want to use one of the awesome new self defense ammo out there. Thoughts? Experiences?

Also what is the round drop like at 300m when you compare the different methods?

How does one do the 50/200 zero. I'm not exactly clear on how the sights should be adjusted with that, especially with the standard flip up style backup site common on military issue weapons. Also, is there a way to accomplish the 50/200 zero by using an offset at 25m? Adjust the the sights like normal for the Army method of zeroing but have the point of impact be 1" low for the group at 25 meters? Yes I am planning on trying this at my next qualification range.
