A word of advice on cameras; mark your camera on the front in plain view with a white paint pen as in the following;   TWRA   # 123456789 (use your own TWRA number here).   You are marking it just like you would a trotline or jugs. It is really good at deterring a lowlife from taking your cameras. It shows legal ownership of the camera and most thieves won't fool with it.   DaveS

Sir; anywhere and everywhere where Whitetail deer occur, there is potential for "big deer". Study deer habits and habitats of "mature bucks" and hunt those areas. Just a word of advice here; bigger is not necessarily better when it come to deer hunting. Big bucks are nice though. Just go hunt and shoot some does and help us control the deer population. If you're going to boil the skull in baking soda or borax, you really don't need the salt as the other two products contain enough of it. My favorite is Borax. I use that 99% of everything!   DaveS

Add borax to the water and then boil I guess either way will work. Just don't add dish soap to boiling water. Don't ask how I know this!   DaveS

It's illegal to dump your carcass on a WMA, and you can get ticketed for it. Cut it into smaller manageable pieces, bag it and dispose of it.   DaveS

Be careful in saying this Hozzie. Depending where he dumps it, it could be quite expensive! The dump is the best option. If it's private property, dump away. Don't do it on public land...please.   DaveS

I never worry about it Chuck. I have nothing to hide or no worries. No warrants no worries! Not out to prove nothing. I mind to my own affairs and cause no public issues. If a cop asks me my name, I'll tell him. If he wants my ID, I'll show him. Wants to know the weapon serial number, I'll tell. I plan on going home at the end of the day, as I have nothing to fear or hide. But that's just me. And above all that, I'm not even going to record him!   DaveS

For what you're doing any salt will work. Non-Iodized is what you are needing for tanning and mounting. In my almost 30 years of Taxidermy Work, I've done skulls this way. If meat and flesh remain on the skull, submerge in just enough water to cover the skull cap and add 1/2 cup of baking soda or 20 mule team borax (my favorite). Boil for about 20 minutes and then scrape clean. Brush on some bleach if you want it really white, rinse and let dry. Mount it as you choose and enjoy!   If you need a little more help, just let me know.   DaveS
