  1. I open up the deer, remove caul fat and put it in a plastic bag for the trip home. My Son will pull out the entrails then remove the caul. That works OK, but you need to be a little more careful that you don't get it dirty. Take it home, clean and rinse it and freeze or use fresh.   DaveS
  2. KahrMan; it is awesome stuff! You can even use it in making sausages but I'm not sure how it's used that way. Maybe Rob has used it in sausage and he'll chime in.   DaveS
  3. Why can't you use centerfire?   DaveS
  4. Maybe I should mention that "Hydrogen Peroxide" has much better skull whitening powers than bleach and will bring out more of a bone look to the finished product. The Peroxide to use is NOT the peroxide you buy at Walmart or local drug store. Go to a beauty supply shop and buy the "real deal"! Get some Clairol 40. And if you currently like the skin color on your hands PLEASE WEAR GLOVES AND GLASSES (old clothes or shop apron would help also) when using this stuff. Just paint it on your skull, let sit for a bit, rinse and set in the sun to dry for a few. And have a cold one in the process. If it's not as light as you would like, repeat.   DaveS
  5. That looks good! I bet an old piece of Barnwood would look crazy awesome. I don't want to steal your idea, but would you let me try your idea with a piece of barnwood? DaveS
  6. Razz; I will have to try it with fish. Sounds good!   DaveS
  7. I like the Liver and Heart cooked in the traditional way. That's about as far as that goes. Sorry Rob....I know what caul fat is too!   DaveS
  8. We're going to smoke a hind quarter in it for Thanksgiving. Good stuff! What it does is it baste and flavors the meat. Does the same thing as bacon does with it's fat. There are probably some recipes using Caul, but I just wrap with it.   DaveS
  9. Make sure the caul is clean (by carefully handling) and wrap your shoulder or whatever in it and smoke as usual. If you're like a lot of people, you'll never throw away another one!
  10. "Go ahead punk, make my day". Clint Eastwood   DaveS
  11. Caul Fat is the "Spider Web" looking fat that surrounds the stomach of the deer. You can't miss it during field dressing. It's very easy to remove and is very very good to cook your deer with. I've been using it for about 2 years now, and can't imagine grilling or smoking deer without it. Dang...I thought everyone used it! Google "Caul Fat".   DaveS
  12. I do. I find it funny for the state of Florida, because he's still running around acting a fool. He should have been sent to jail along time ago. And please don't ask me why, as you know as well as I do, (google it if you don't). He continues to be a POS and always will be! And I find it interesting that guns and violence seems to be his modus operandi.   DaveS
  13. How many of y'all save the Caul Fat from your deer to use in smoking/Grilling your deer shoulders? We save every one we can and it adds a tremendous amount of flavor and moisture to your deer. Give it a try and you'll never throw anymore away ever!   DaveS
  14. Because I can, and it's funnier than hell! Because it's my god given constitutional right to follow court cases. And, he's a pos that needs gotten under control and kept there. Robert, I guess you could hang out somewhere else?   DaveS
  15. I agree Mike 100% with what you said!   DaveS
  16. The jury spoke and that is that. All that's happened after that trial is what's the issue now. It seems like he can't stay out of trouble. And guns seem to be his problem. He doesn't need to own one. Maybe the judge will fix that for him. I'm not interested in discussing his circus of a trial any further. I'm interested in this current case.   DaveS
  17. That's a fact. At APSU I was called a cracker and was told I wasn't welcome there. That's when my support for TM stopped, but that doesn't change my mind about Zman. I do not want him arguing my 2A rights on my behalf. Since he was found not guilty that dude has been in all kinds of trouble. Maybe this time the court will teach him that his behavior is unacceptable in todays society! He'll make someone a good prison bitch I'm sure. Especially when it's found out he's the dude that killed TM. He'll never be able to live in general population. What a shame!   DaveS
  18. I feel your pain Brother! I do a lot of cancelling my own hunts, as its so hard to find a good hunting partner. Oh well, life goes on!   DaveS
  19. One of our pairs didn't last 3 months. They were the cheaper ones from BP.   DaveS
  20. I got my daughter and myself a pair of waders from Dick's and they have leaked since the second time we used them. You can seal them, step in the water and they leak somewhere else. Then repeat over and over. Never again!   DaveS
  21. Well said!   DaveS
  22. I have a feeling that once you get decked, and the punk turns to walk away that shooting is no longer an option. Unless you just want to shoot to teach them a lesson. As far as I'm concerned, the threat isn't over until they're well out of sight of me. If I can still see them, they're still a threat in my mind!   DaveS
  23. We thought about that. It's still and option! I don't much like to shoot these small deer, but I'm disabled and 9 out of 10 times I have to hunt by myself, and drag these deer out of the woods by myself. I got to "go small or not at all". I'm not ready to give up deer hunting yet! Plus they taste oh so good!   DaveS
  24. Thanks Rob...she'll make a fine Thanksgiving dinner! That's our plan anyways. We always try to do some traditional food for thanksgiving. Two years ago was wild turkey, last year was wild pig and this year is deer. She dressed at 53  pounds (I just put her on the scales) so I could only imagine how tender that deer is going to be slow cooked on a smoker.   DaveS
