  1. I was in there and registered to win one of twelve guns they were giving away today and had to leave to go help another TGO member drag a deer out of the woods. Dave has done an awesome job building his shop into a booming business! Ammo prices were pretty reasonable! 7mm/08 120 gr @ 23.00 a box. I bought a box yesterday at another LGS and paid $37.99 for them!   DaveS
  2. Had to go help TGO member Madk0w64 drag a buck out today. He shot this beautiful 10 point with his AR at about 10 this morning. Dave and Madk0w64. DaveS
  3. I wish I had your problem!!! LOL   DaveS
  4. We all have a responsibility to teach our young ones what it takes to be sufficient in life. Just like a lady asked me why I killed animals to eat instead of buying them at the store, and killing animals was cruel. I was at JT's checking in a deer and my reply to her was how long and happy her life would be by minding her own business! Oh yeah, the animals in the store was never alive?   DaveS
  5. I hang them for as long as 5 days. Fort Campbell was charging $2.00 per calendar day to use their walk in cooler. Which is pretty reasonable. I think CK charges $4 if they moved their cooler to their new location. Icing is a good alternative.   DaveS
  6. Here's the DVD I was talking about. I thought it was free, but it's $13.00  I've seen it before, it's really good and would be worth every bit of that $13.00!   https://secure.kentucky.gov/Mall/Store/7803440a42df458c815d9db55890b738/Product/5ec5d4530c384a58af441a914bf23317/   Here's a sample of the video and link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0p2t6AXeWxQ   Dave
  7. If he cuts it how you want him to, then $60 isn't a bad deal. I've been in a spot before and couldn't let one hang outside and the "walk in cooler" on post was filled, and had to take it to a processor here. Very bad experience for $75!!   DaveS
  8. There was a very good DVD put out by the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife ( I believe it was) a couple of years ago. The DVD is how to skin, cut and de-bone your deer in 30 minutes or so. One of the guys at the Fire department had it. It was very good. Let me see if I can it on youtube.   Dave
  9. I have been cutting my own deer and pigs for years. To me, the hunt isn't over until the animal is in the freezer, even if you let it hang a couple days. The fun's over, but the hunt isn't. I started cutting my own because 1) I got screwed by a processor and didn't get all my meat I thought I should have. 2) They are too darn expensive. 3) Most of them have know idea what "customer service" is and can't follow simple instructions. 4) I cut mine just how I like it. 5) Most processors I know are meat heads and their processing operations are something to be desired. 6) I just like cutting my own.   My message to Deer Processors: There is a sheet you have us fill out on how we want our deer cut up. WE take the time to fill it out, YOU take the time to read it! When we say we want the front shoulders left whole as roast, that DOES NOT MEAN slice them into little shoulder bone steaks. Sheezzz!!!   Rant Off   Time for my second cup of coffee!   Good Day Gents   DaveS
  10. Yeah it does.   DaveS
  11. That's insane!   Dave
  12. This is usually a good show with something for just about everyone.   Dave
  13. Rob; what DOESN'T make you go all wobbly-kneed when it comes to rifles? J/K Bro   Dave
  14. Never leave your place of "safety" to go look for someone outside, let LE deal with it. As when you do, I feel it is no longer "self-defense". A lot of folks probably think otherwise.   Dave
  15. Praying for her. Keep us posted!   Dave
  16. I wasn't aware you could "shoot to kill" someone trespassing on your property. The shooter should have stayed inside, battened down the hatches and made sure no entry was made until police arrived. Believe me, there is nothing outside worth dying over, and this could have went very bad for the shooter as well. Police are trained to handle situations like this and could have used other officers, K-9 and/or "less than lethal" methods to locate and apprehend the elderly gentleman. Most likely just another case of "Johnny shot quick" because he pizzed on himself out of fear when he encountered the old man. Just my opinion as I wasn't there.   A sad story indeed!   DaveS
  17. I think I'll hunt afternoons until this cold snap lets off of us. I'm like LukeE, my legs, knees and back don't work well as it is, and the extreme cold just compounds the problem. All those years of abusing my body have caught up to me!   DaveS
  18. Tom; I see your point, and will agree to that. So yes, it's "sad" that we have to worry about litigation at everything we do. As far as the dog issue, call animal control and complain. Log a few complaints with CPD if you have too. If you know who the dogs belong to, file a complaint with them as well. Do everything you can to "CYA" then deal with it. Discharging a weapon in the city limits won't cut it. How much property do you have and what part of the city do you live in? Some sections of the city got "annexed" in, and hunting is still permitted on some depending on acreage, especially in the ST B area.   DaveS
  19. The cold is what I'm thinking about.   DaveS
  20. Yes, IE 11 was updated to my PC.   DaveS
  21. How many on here are evening deer hunters? I'm a morning hunter and have harvested many a deer in the mornings. I have been in the evenings on several occasions and harvested one deer. One of my bigger bucks was taken in the afternoon. I'm trying to talk myself in to  hunting afternoons for awhile.   What works best for you?   Dave
  22. You should care. You have a responsibility to care for, and protect the livestock you choose to keep. I have chickens and ducks and have never lost a one to a stray dog or coyote, coon or mink (lost one to an eagle once). Build a dog proof pen to keep them in, and run a strand of electric fence on the outside of the enclosure. As far as your family goes, most likely not much of threat. Calling animal control might be a good option for you.   Please don't say "it's sad" that we are worrying about litigation on your behalf, after all you asked for the "legalities" in your original post. All we are doing is advising you, and much of it is based on first hand experiences. What would be really sad, is if we all told you to shoot the dogs inside the city limits and got you put in jail. These guys on here have years and years of knowledge and experience, and you did well to seek advice here. Now you know what you are up against as far as legalities go, the ball is in your hands now.   Dave
  23. Very good answer.   DaveS
