  1. I'm not a fan of wheat beer, but that one is pretty good. Dave
  2. ....and they can't buy or drink beer. TDR you're good to go.   Dave
  3. Feral pig makes some of the best bacon you'll ever eat! The hams aren't too shabby either!   DaveS
  4. JWC; the area we hunt is a little piece of private property surrounded by St. Marks Refuge over in Wakulla County. Back in June, the Federal Game Warden I was hunting with had a feeder and light set up as you described. Nothing is more exciting than to be sitting in your blind half asleep when someone whispers "light's on", "big hog, get ready". That's how I got my 300 pounder. I wish I could hunt them like that here. I know where there are two (maybe more) Big black boars. Seen them on state land about a week ago. They spooked and ran over on to private property. They were probably 250 to 275 pounds ea.   There is nothing that compares to hog hunting!   Dave
  5. You just made memories and gained a hunting partner for life. Then when he shoots first deer......well, you'll never feel emotion like that ever again!   Dave
  6. Same one on facebook? If so, that is a nice doe!   Dave
  7. The Baker discriminated against the couple based on his religion. My religion teaches me to treat all people as equals. Therefore, he violated the rights of the couple in refusing to sell them a cake. They didn't ask him for "fringe benefits" or a "happy ending"...all they wanted was to buy a darn cake! There's no written law against what he done...just God's.   Dave
  8. Those are great ideas. One thing I do that you might want to do is throw a few chem lights in your bag. Pop some chem lights and it makes marking your stand and trail at night a breeze! They are nice to have!   DaveS
  9. My point on this subject lies in the fact that some of y'all on here whine every time a cop asks someone open carrying for an ID, because it violates their  rights! How a gun buster violates your rights, how a Terry Stop violates your rights ect ect ect.... the list just goes on and on as long as it fits some of y'alls agendas of rights, it's a ok. Let some Baker violate the rights of a gay couple, and some of y'all act like cheer leaders jumping up and down in favor of discrimination. No I'm not gay by no means, but I had the most pleasurable opportunity to work in EEO and as a Union Steward at the Fire dept. for about 10 years and I've never in my life seen the hypocrites as I see here. I've thought it over and I'm glad they went to the courts over it. You know what? I would too as I would not allow you to treat me any different than anyone else! Religion or otherwise! I guess rights were written for a few select groups and allows us to pick and choose what we want to do when it comes to the rights of others. In my opinion that couple should have been able to buy a cake as easy as the rest of us. I hope his bakery gets boycotted big time!!   Rant off....smiley switched back on.   Dave
  10. Morton's Tender Quick, Course Ground Black Pepper, Maple Extract, and Brown Sugar. Spray maple extract on meat, sprinkle fresh ground black peeper,  sprinkle tender quick at the rate of one tablespoon per pound of meat and 2 tablespoons of Brown sugar per pound. Rub all in good and cure for about 6-7 days. If you want more precise instructions let me know.   DaveS
  11. Yes, the house smells good NOW Brother!   Dave
  12. I believe I would be finding an easier hunting spot...just saying.   Dave
  13. Most places right now are pretty darn expensive and is surely taking advantage of the facts that we can't hunt hogs statewide now.   Dave
  14. I see that this has a lot to do with someone discriminating against gay marriages. Is it because he doesn't believe in it? That Baker is just a small part of the problem that is plaguing our country today! Now, what does this have to do with deer poaching?   Dave
  15. Thanks KahrMan, I appreciate the compliment!   Dave
  16. Maybe they did, I haven't heard.   DaveS
  17. Folks, one of my most enjoyable hobbies is the making and smoking of Hams, Bacons and Sausages of all kinds. In the summer of 2012 I carried some Wild Boar Bacon to east TN for a TGO get together and thought a fight was going to break out over the last piece! It was fun! Those that have been following my posts on the other hunting threads know that I haven't hunted lately due to the cold and now ice. So, I have been manning the "smoke house" making Bacon, Buckboard Bacon and Canadian Bacon. I would like to share a few pics... Here's a few slabs... Canadian Bacon on the left and slab bacon on the right Final cuts ^ ^ ^ Bacon Buckboard Bacon Canadian Bacon Cooked for testing... And yes...it is freaking awesome!!!! Dave
  18. Try these. http://www.huntingtripsrus.com/wild-boar-hog-hunting/tennessee.html Personally I would travel to Guntersville to Mann's Mountain for my hog hunting. I go to Florida and hunt them for free. Good stuff!   DaveS
  19. Growing up in the fifties in the mountains, a zinc bath tub in the back yard made us feel rich! The same tub served double duty holding hog fat during kill'n time!   Dave
  20. Please tell me what religion disapproves of baking a cake for same sex marriage couples? My religion says I can drink Wine on Sunday. I think I'll sue my liquor store....they're closed today.   DaveS
  21. I just spewed my coffee. Need a break, be back in a few. I'm not sure that's how his name is spelled. Y'all kill'n me...   Dave
  22. When your 30th birthday was 28 years ago!   Dave
  23. But why treat them any different than anyone else? If Bakers do that to them, then he'll do it to all of us. Why not just treat people as equals? As far as religion goes, we can interpret our religions however we feel and make good use of it as long as it suits our individual needs. What does the bible say about how we should treat our fellow man? Does that change from one religion to the next? I do not agree with the couple going to court. Maybe they felt they needed to do something to prevent this from happening to someone else in the future.   Dave
  24. If I lived closer I'd help you, but keep us posted when you get her out.   Dave
