  1. That's some crazy stuff right there!   Dave
  2. Yep, suspending their hunting rights is an effective tool for sure..... I've never liked the idea nor have I ever approved of it. Loss of firearm, jail time and restitution is the route to go! That usually gets their attention!   Dave
  3. What locked container? Are you referring to that black shrink wrap he had on his weapon with a cable lock hanging on it? I do not see that as a "locked container". I may be wrong, but I don't see it. A "guitar style hard case with lock", yes.   Dave
  4. With the hundreds of thousands of ammo cans around here, let me price some for y'all. I just threw 2 nice looking 5.56 cans in the trash the other day. I had no clue folks fought and gouged for them things.   Dave
  5. It's up on a hill (Boot Hill) that is near the river by s few hundred yards.   Dave
  6. Most news outlets have removed pictures of the nativity scene. It's pretty sickening and this stuff has gotten way out of hand. The scene is of Trayvon "bleeding out" and is suppose to send a message about gun violence. Easy enough..."stay in your truck" (sorry fella's just had to) LOL Dave
  7. I have been metal detecting off and on for many years now and really enjoy it. I mostly look for C/W Relics but have found tons of other interesting items. The property that I deer hunt (180 acres) near Dover is the land that many Confederate Troops crossed as they escaped Fort Donelson. Rumor has it, that the Confederates fired at large trees on the property for target practice with their cannons. I have just poked around the property a bit and found a few little items. I'll get serious about when it warms up a little.   Here in Clarksville, I found some eating utensils, buckles, buttons and bullets at Fort Defiance before it became City property. Those items now rest in the Clarksville Museum.   Dvae
  8. That's good stuff!!!   Dave
  9. He does have a lot of old stuff. He has a couple parachutes (Vietnam cargo chutes) I want to go back and get some day. You have to dig around some, but he has stuff from way back.   Dave
  10. Next time y'all want to come up, let me know, and I'll call Pack Rat and make sure he's open. He's an old crusty broke down retired Colonel and a lot of times he just stays at home. At times, it you really need something, you can call him and he'll come open up for you. I don't remember what his regular hours are anymore.   Dave
  11. Some day fella's we'll all realize that this is not going to go away. I don't like it much either, but I live my life as I see fit, and the gays can live theirs, they don't bother me and I don't bother them! Some day, we'll all learn to get along with each other, and I damn sure won't let them stop me from watching a parade if that's what I want to do.   Dave
  12. That's awesome that you would give up your hunting to help a disabled hunter. You are a true Sportsman Sir! And a special friend to him...   Dave
  13. Eagles of War near Ringgold Rd and Pack Rats in New providence are my two favorites. However, just about every indoor flea market sells surplus.   Dave
  14. Are you referring to Cheatham WMA? I'm not sure if the property you are asking about is part of Cheatham. If it is, look up Cheatham WMA in the hunting guide and you'll find regs specific to that WMA. Most WMA's have a "minimum distance" in which you can from an occupied structure.   DaveS
  15. First of all WELCOME to TGO and welcome to our little corner of the world. These guys on here know their stuff and will help you anyway possible. The calibers they list are all awesome in their own rights but I'd like to mention a couple of my favorites, and that being the .308 and 7mm/08. Both are awesome calibers and are available (as with the others mentioned) for $350 and less. If your shotgun can be scoped, that may be an alternative to buying a rifle right now. As already mentioned, your range with the 20 ga will be somewhat limited. I have a 12 ga with a 20 inch smoothbore slug barrel, scoped and 100 yards is nothing to that shotgun.   Tell us a little about your shotgun and your shooting skills and experience, and I bet we'll all get you going in the right direction!   Again Welcome!   DAve
  16. I'm doing one for my "New Years' thread....   Dave
  17. A very nice post. Contains a lot of good info. Thanks for sharing!   Dave
  18. There is a real good book out that I've had in my library for a few years. It is "Home Book of Smoke Cooking" by Jack Sleight and Raymond Hull. It covers smokers, equipment, woods and tons of recipes for brines, rubs and how to cook just about everything!   The book is well worth having in your library. There are other good books on the subject (I have a few of them) but this is me "go to" book.   Dave
  19. Best "product review" there is, thanks.   Dave
  20. As long as we don't ask him to grill hamburgers..... (a long running joke with us)   Dave
  21. Thanks for the info Whiskey. That ham looks awesome! I have to admit Whiskey, when I first seen this picture of your ham, I thought it was a turkey that you burnt so bad the wings fell off. j/k little buddy. Dave
  22. OK I'm tracking with ya. Seems like a really good idea. I use and old pot to put my chips in when smoking. That's a pretty handy device there!   Dave
  23. AMNPS??   DAve
  24. I seen one of two "stick figures" I was going to post but thought them to be a little distasteful. One stick figure holding a smoking gun and the other stick figure laying on the ground. Some people are just kinda sick I guess!   Live Long, Live Hard Zman!!   DAve
  25. I do a lot of "cold smoking" and I like to keep my pot at a fairly low and steady temp. Just hot enough to emit smoke. Higher temperatures for smoke cooking of course.   Dave
