  1. That's sad R_Bert as the shooter will probably never want to hunt again. We must all remember that these "accidents" are 100% preventable. I feel for the guy having to go through life knowing he killed his hunting buddy. It is what it is I guess.   Dave
  2. Jonathon explained it about as best as it can be explained!   Dave
  3. I've always been a sears man, but for the last 10 years or so, I avoid Sears like the plague for the same reasons already mentioned!   Dave
  4. I actually wasn't hunting with the .45 pistol per say, but he walked up on my right side, and being right handed, I couldn't turn with my rifle to shoot. So I drew the 1911 Officers Model and was able to get a shot with an extended right arm.   Would I purposely hunt with that 1911? If I kept my shots within 25 yards damn straight I would.   Dave
  5. 10 yards. Bullet was recovered just under the skin on the opposite side. He went about 20 yards and piled up. XTP 230 grain JHP reload. DaveS
  6. I had some work done to mine as well. Mostly with Wilson Combat parts. It is SWEET. I've let a few people at the range shoot it and they couldn't believe it was made by High Standard. My 17 year old daughter has been shooting it since she was 14 and she is absolutely awesome with it!   Dave
  7. OH...that's gonna leave a mark for sure!   Thanks for the laugh this morning buddy!   Dave
  8. I've been asking this same question since 2010.   Dave
  9. Buddy, you just caused me to lose my coffee! LMAO!!   Dave
  10. My crossbow has what I would call an automatic safety. You have to take the safety OFF to cock it, then the safety automatically engages as the crossbow is cocked. To fire it, disengage the safety, and pull the trigger. While hunting, that crossbow stays locked and cocked with a bolt on the rail. While crossing fences or whatever, REMOVE the bolt. That's the only way truly safety it. I hesitate at times to call these types of incidents "accidents". Some are totally preventable and should be called acts of "stupidity"! We probably will find out that one or both didn't have a hunter safety course. But then again, I don't suspect that helps some folks.   I hope the guy recovers well.   Dave
  11. JWC; That sounds pretty darn good! Someone on one of the other threads posted a recipe for Red Beans and Rice. I need to find that recipe because today just seems like a RB&R kinda day.   Dave
  12. Nah...just the bubbles. He likes to stick his nose to the bubbles then jerks his head back when the pop in his nose.   Dave
  13. Not a darn thing wrong with Rock. But I'm surely not impressed with my friends Kimber. You're buying name. If they want to send me one for free and allow me to test it, I may have a different opinion. But for $1200.00, they suck!   Dave
  14. Why Sir....why are you choking that duck? J/K Congrats on your duck hunt! DaveS
  15. Except I refuse to pay that for those brand names. I carry a 1911 Officer's model 45 made by high standard. I have a friend who carries a Kimber 1911. He wants to trade me. No thanks! I wouldn't pay for a kimber at any price, and damn sure not the one he has that he paid $1,200 for!   Dave
  16. I think you're right. I had the pleasure of being an extra in a Patrick Swayze movie (North and South) and he was really a good guy just to talk with. But with him (as with many others I'm sure) his attitude on and off set was totally different. ON set he was dead serious about everything. Off set he was really funny to be around and talk to. It sure broke my heart when he died though.   Dave
  17. LOL That was always my favorite part of the show!   Dave
