  1. Very nice Doe young man, Congrats!!! Nice purty rifle! Dave
  2. What an awesome hunting story. That little girl will never forget that experience of her first hunt. You da' man Ruger!!   Dave
  3. Fellow TGO'rs this made me laugh so hard I couldn't stand it! So I thought I would share it with you and maybe bring a smile or laugh to all of Y'all to help jump start your weekend!   http://www.fart-sounds.net/fart_sound_board.htm   Dave
  4. In the video the guys says getting stopped by the cops is "bullsh*t. So is what he's doing in my opinion. If you don't want stopped by LEO and checked out, stop O/C AR 15s (and other guns for that matter). Some day in the not so distant future we're going to lose our rights to O/C any firearm whether they are unloaded or not, no matter what our constitution says. Remember when it comes to "law makers" all it takes is a motion, show of hands and an ink pen and our lives can be changed dramatically. Some gun owners are a bigger threat to our 2A rights than the government is.   Dave
  5. Now look at why they are carrying. Every person in Israel is a member of the military whether in uniform or not. They go armed 24/7 to be able to respond to terrorist threats and/or invasion by another country. I really don't think using the Israelis is a good example of carrying in a mall. Dave
  6. What he said ^^^^^^   Dave
  7. If I had every green army man or matchbox car that I destroyed with a pellet gun as a kid, I think I could make a fortune on ebay! Then someone showed me how you could shoot strike anywhere kitchen matches out of the pellet gun. VIOLA!!!! Instant napalm for those little army men and matchbox cars!!   Disclaimer: This is totally for entertainment purposes only and no child (nor some adults) should repeat any actions as stated by the author. Trained professional, don't try this crap at home and no pigeons were harmed in the process!   Dave
  8. If I remember the story right, he was in someone else's place of business and not his own. Granted his shop is in the same mall but outside his shop confines, is not his place of business. Whether his AR was fake or otherwise I don't know. But anyone that carries a fake AR around is FISHING or BAITING. Why else do so? If it was real and he was carrying it to his shop, it should have been cased and/or in the original box. Bad decision on his part. This is 2014 folks. The good old days of gun ownership is gone forever!   With all the gun crime in the US today, shootings and robberies every single minute in this country, what public reaction do you expect when walking around with an assault rifle? I'm like a couple other folks on here, 'I don't need that kind of PR representation. I'll represent myself just fine, and do so without instilling fear into people to get them to think how I want them to think. When we carry firearms for the purpose of "getting people used to seeing them", that's no different in MY OPINION, than Adolph Hitler and the Nazi party instilling fear into people to get them to think the way THEY wanted them to.   We're losing ground every single day, so I think a "low profile" with a firearm is the way to go.   We as legitimate gun owners are not going to win popular public opinion by exposing people to guns that want nothing to do with them.     Good day.   Dave
  9. I really would like to try a pellet rifle. I wonder how consistent they are as far as accuracy goes?   Dave
  10. I've never been asked for my card to buy my license, but I was born in 1955 and don't need it. However, to hunt on Fort Campbell I have to have it. So I took the course back in the late 90's. My 17 year old daughter has never been asked for hers either (she has one). At Walmart; she tells them she needs her annual fishing license and doesn't get "carded". Buy them online and one isn't required. You do need to produce it when asked for by a Wildlife Officer.   Please don't misunderstand me here, but the HSC is over rated. I went through it for me, went through it with my kids and my grandkids. I have even assisted the instructor in the class for traditional/modern muzzleloader hunting. In my opinion, the class doesn't teach enough of the right things. That's just my opinion. If I was teaching it I would have some props to use in class. But that's just me.   Dave
  11. On Federal property we were asking for the hunter safety card when licenses were checked. Most places won't ask to see it when they sell a license because our licenses here are combo licenses and a hunter safety umm, uh, Fishing Safety card isn't required so it's not needed to be shown at time of purchase of your combo license. Not having your hunter safety card is a ticket offense. In lieu of the hunter safety card is the one time hunter apprentice permit. It's good for one year and is to be used until you get your hunter education card.   Dave
  12. No excuse, and his 2nd time at that?   Dave
  13. All easy stuff!   Dave
  14. Yes. If you lose it and/or need a replacement, you must go to the originating state for that replacement.   Dave
  15. Want a challenge? I'll loan you my .36 cal Flintlock Kentucky Rifle. That's my Squirrel gun.   Dave
  16. Your Dad was a wise man! Us Dad's don't need to do all that walking around trees.....just saying.   Dave
  17. That's funny stuff! LOL Dave
  18. This time of year just slip quietly through the woods and I would leave Fido at home. Stop, look and listen, then make your move. Expect to make longer shots than what you are used to making earlier in the year. Or.....you could climb a tree and pretend you are deer hunting, and I GUARANTEE you will see more of them pesky things than you could imagine!   Good Luck   Dave   Edited for dumm spel'n mistek/brain fart
  19. I honestly think it's due to weather and hunters not getting out as much as usual. My personal harvest is down by about 5. I usually get enough deer that I can donate 2-3 to the needy, but I was only able to donate one this year, because I couldn't get out as much due to the weather and disability. This really is one of the weirdest deer seasons I've had in a while!   Dave
  20. It turned out to be a good season for me as well. I really have to admit that y'all taught me a lot. This is the first year that I have NEVER taken a buck (by my choosing). First one on opening day was a young spike buck. Last year I would have shot him dead without a second thought. I let him walk to give him another year to grow. It felt pretty good. I have some wallhangers running those ridges on the property, although I don't care much to kill them, I did miss one the second day of muzzleloader season. I decided "what the heck, I'll just trophy hunt this year. So, after listening to a couple of y'all on (letting little bucks grow big) I got six Trophy Does, well, at least to me they are! Don't misunderstand me here...I'm not going soft on my stance of shooting what I want and I had several opportunity's to take a young buck and "opted out" on them. Plus, I kinda figure by letting them grow a little...well you know the rest. I have no one hunting my property with me (no one at all hunts but me), maybe, just maybe, one or two of y'all on here will be my hunting guest next year.   Dave
  21. Memories is what it's all about!   Dave
  22. A fine one indeed!!! Dave
  23. I use my trail cam's on private and public land and have never had one taken. Mine are marked as follows (except the numbers)  TWRA # 12345678. I'll see if I can post a pic here in a bit. It is marked just like my jugs, trotlines and traps.   Dave
