2014 Off Season Support Group Deer Season Thread
DaveS replied to Slappy's topic in Hunting and Fishing
I put a "new to me" rifle in layaway in preparation for deer and hog hunting seasons ahead. My plans are to move to Florida in late spring or early summer. The timing all depends on how long it takes S/S on my disability. I will be moving somewhere between Pensacola and Crawfordville, preferably the Port St. Joe or Appalachicola (sp) area. That part of Florida is over run with hogs! I plan on getting settled in, lease some property, put out feeders with motion detector lights and invite some of my TGO Brothers down for what I will call "Hog Fest"!! Oh yeah, fishing invitations will run 24/7!!! Since deer season never ends, just the deer harvesting part, what off season plans do y'all have? Slappy...start that new thread! Dave Dave -
What do you do when you encounter a posted business?
DaveS replied to 10-Ring's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I guess I'm different here, as I've never allowed a business to dictate my daily routine of things. If I'm out and about and want to run into a store or restaurant and it's posted I just simply disarm, go in and take care of business and go on my way. How well I'm concealed plays a role at as well. A gun buster sign is not going to force me to drive my gas out looking for something somewhere else. I also don't feel the need to be armed every second of the day. If I felt that I did, I think I would reevaluate the types of places I frequent or stay my happy butt at home. I live my life as I see fit. If it's not posted I carry in. If it's posted, I disarm (99.99% of the time). Gun carry does not run my life. Like TGO David says.....I'm not posting it on the internet. I gave you my opinion in a nut shell! Dave -
"Exempt Personal Firing Range: A location where a person may engage in target firing or plinking (at non game targets) with legal firearms on his own property or on the property of another with the consent of its property owner or lessee for persons of no more that three (3) consecutive days per month or five (5) total days per month, not exceeding 200 rounds of ammunition per person, per day." This appears to be the amended ordinance for Montgomery County. It would be worth checking your county to see if there are any restrictions on shooting on your property. Also, Montgomery County has on the books, "zoning and nuisance" laws which shooting would fall under. Land use and Zoning Restrictions must also meet noise control requirements depending on where the property is located and how zoned. If your property is Zoned "Residential" beware, even if living in the county! The Sheriff Deputy told me wrong at 300 rounds per month. Its been a couple years and that may have been the case at one time but has apparently been changed.

What a beauty Dol!!! Dave -
I talked to a Sherriff deputy here in Montgomery County about me setting up a little range here at my house in the county, outside the city limits, just for me and my kids to shoot on. I was told shooting was no problem (I don't remember if it was a County or State thing) but if I shot more than 300 rounds per month, I would be required to get petitions signed by the neighbors and apply for a range permit. I would also be responsible for any damages that occurred to the property of others and could be charged for disturbing the peace if a complaint was filed. He also advised me to go talk to my neighbors and let them know what I was doing, and what would be the best hours for me to shoot that didn't bother them. Worst thing in the world you can do is piss off your neighbors with your shooting. Your life will be miserable on your property as long as you live there! Dave

It don't hardly get no better than that! Dave

So bad for the thug, so sad for the shooter that he may have to defend himself and have legal fees. Under the circumstances of the shooting, the shooter shouldn't be investigated at all, whether he was carrying legally or not. He saved no telling how many lives. Stuff like this just makes me sick. Don't get mad at me Ladies, my wife sent this to me
DaveS replied to Sidinman's topic in General Chat
A true friend indeed! DaveS -
I'm not sickened by any of it. The burning of corpses to get rid of them and the smell has been going on for century's. Don't photograph and don't tell. At least we are burning them after death and not alive as our enemys done in the "World Trade Center". It wouldn't bother me if they burned Al Quida members alive, just like when they saw the heads off of live soldiers. Turn abouts fair play if you ask me! Dave

As a volunteer with the Fish and Wildlife service and getting to do ride alongs, yes the Wardens check cards when checking license of Federal property. Never had mine or my grandkids H/S cards checked by the state weanies. Dave

This is why Midway will never get my biz again!!!!!
DaveS replied to serbu50's topic in General Chat
I have never had a problem with Midway. Anything that's ever been back ordered has shipped as the items came. I will continue to do business with them as I have for the last few years. They have never given me a reason to stop. File an inquiry to find out what happened. Dave -
Nope. A written permit from TWRA is required. Call your Region/County Officer for a permit. Dave

It'll only take him one time of getting caught to straighten him out. Keep working on him. Dave

I think it should be mandatory for ALL ages! Dave
-
Absolutely correct. It seems there is an exemption to the requirement to wearing orange if you're hunting on your farmland. Dave
-
Orange is not required, but seems it would be a foolish act to hunt any property any where without orange on. Dave
