  1. I asked that same question, here is my answer." As long as the boat is not under power." If you are anchored or drifting you are fine. Be aware that if you exit the boat to retrieve a squirrel, you may be trespassing.
  2. Not today BUDDY!
  3. I started squirrel hunting with a .50 cal. Start your load with about 60 grain of powder, .490 round ball with a greased patch. Sight it in and shoot some rats. There is no better way to hone your shooting skills for deer hunting, than to squirrel hunt with M/L. Just as with any weapon, most squirrel will be on the ground, so more attention has to be paid as to a backstop.
  4. robtattoo....take the smokepole buddy....you worked so hard for it last year! What's a shotgun?
  5. Come on fellas lets go. Smoke pole is the only way to go!
  6. Most that I have investigated anyways, their hogs are reproducing naturally in the wild. How much for a hunt? I'm with ya on "it's all about the hunt". But my friend, I don't like spending all that money it cost to hunt, just to go to the grocery store to buy pork chops. Seems hunting and feeding our families should go hand in hand. Pork in the grocery store is for the most part over 3.00 dollars a pound. Wild Boar meat on the internet is about 14.00 dollars a pound. So If you take me on a hunt for 600.00, I kill...lets say...a 300lb boar....BINGO! I got to hunt, and put meat on the table.( By the way, those who have never had wild boar meat...It's AWESOME!) All for about 2.00 dollars a pound! You win, I win, and nobody goes hungry! I'll pay you 600 for a two day hunt with dogs, lodging, meals, transportation to and from the hunt area, field dressing and cold storage for my hogs....come on, how about buddy? Hook me up!
  7. PATTY please delete my post if you desire. However, You could take your 10,000 dollar pair of dogs in your 40,000 dollar truck and take us all on a pig hunt. Excert your energy as a guide to take us into "God's" country instead of fuss'n. If we get to go I'll bring my 12,000 dollar GMC, walmart hunting boots (29.99) and my el'cheapo (45-70) that cost me a measly 350 dollars. Since I don't have the time to travel out east to scout and hunt...make me a good deal on a hunt!
  8. Patty....if my post offends you, please delete it! I don't know what a canned hunt is, and never chased a pig with a 10,000 dollar dog (my grand daddy would never have gone for that) ain't no pig worth 10,000! I also thought about a hunt at Big South Fork, but we can't get in until January I beleive. As far as fencing for wild boar, ram goat, sheep stag ect ect...first the law requires that invasive and destructive species (wild boar "sus scrofa" ) and all non-native species be enclosed using escape proof fencing. I beleive Stacy has about 5 square miles of fencing to keep his "hog zillas" on his property. If it wasn't fenced, then people with 10,000 dollar dogs would be kill'n his hogs. If that PATTY fella would put all of his energy into inviting us on a hog hunt into one of his wilderness wildlife areas and become a hunting guide, he'd have less time to fuss about us hunters that don't have such opportunities! He should become a hunting guide. Currently I am hunting feral hogs on government land. I have to use bow. No dogs allowed. The old fashion way...stalking. These boar are free roaming and have several thousand acres of land at their disposal. Weird thing about it is...I see them in the same little ol' swamp all the time...seems they never want to leave that area. So to me, if there was a mile or more of fence around that area..so be it. The pigs aren't going any place! PATTY, Tennessee Extreme charges 600 for a hunt with dogs (albeit not 10,000 dollar ones)...what would you charge us for a hunt? I was not asking the Moderators if they approved of the hunt, just a link to something I thought would benifit the hunting comunity. If I violated the rules as PATTY seems to think...please delete that post.
  9. Time to dust off the old 36cal flintlock rifle. Wasn't aware that spring squirrel was in yet!
  10. By law, feral hogs and wild boar being raised and/or managed MUST be contained on ALL properties with the exception of a few choice locations where they occur naturally, I.E: The Smoky Mountains and certain WMA's. All other locations statewide, they MUST be CONTAINED to prevent them from escaping and damaging public and private property. Spending 2 days hunting wild boar with dogs and not getting a shot until late the second day, doesn't sound like a caged hunt to me! Try it, you may even enjoy the meat!
  11. Still chasing down feral hogs with bow. Can't kill a turkey, so I'm using my hunting time wisely!
  12. roverboy, where is "Moss" Tennessee?
  13. If the moderator will allow this......I want to visit Welcome to Tennesse Extreme: www.tnboar.com It's near Lynchburg. The last hog I got, I decided to do a full body mount on. I have the mounting chronicled on my website. I'm really wanting one in the 300-350 lb class to put on the wall. Maybe we can all go for a camping trip or a lodge, and get us a trophy hog.
  14. Feral Hogs will someday rule the planet!
  15. I'm thinking we need to get a few folks together and go on a hog hunt out east somewhere.
  16. Are those public hunting areas, or private property?
  17. My friends son shot this 20lb tom on the recent youth hunt. The bird had a 9 inch beard and 1 1/2 inch spurs. Congradulations "Bug" for getting such a nice bird!
  18. clutepc....would love to do the coyote mount for ya....got some good ideas for one.
  19. Whiskey...I think there is a few left. Need you to get your bow up and running and get out there with us. I'm going to make a trip out East soon. Want to get me a big'un! I have some pictures on my website of the boar being mounted. I'm in for a trip if someone wants a responsible hunting partner!
  20. Ya'll one crazy bunch of folks!
  21. I am mounting a full body boar and will be photographing each phase of the process, and telling a little about the process. I will chronicle this under my website. The page title is planned as "Taxidermy".
  22. I'll have to give that recipe a try!
  23. The Montgomery county range does not allow .50 BMG. Good luck finding a place...
  24. There is a spring "Tree Rat" season and a late summer/fall season. Check the hunting guide for exact dates. I fry squirrels with my flintlock rifle, then use them in squirrel and dumplings. If I fry them in a skillet, I throw some fried potatos, turnip greens and cornbread on the plate with them. I will be out this spring for sure!
  25. Nice bird!
