  1. Thanks for the memories as I had forgotten some of these! The "Rifleman" clip must have been made back when rifle ammo was cheaper and no shortage on 30-30!   Dave
  2. Going down next month to look at housing and go pig hunting with Cody. Oh, did I mention the beach? Yeah going there too!   Dave
  3. I used to give my wife a panic attack! So I sat out in the truck bay at the Fire department and practice calling.   Dave
  4. Nah...I appreciate the offer Sir, but I think I'll just sit back cheer on the group! Some times watching from the sidelines instead of being in the game has it's grand rewards!   Dave
  5. That's a cool thing to do Slappy! Seems a lot of this going around here lately.   Dave
  6. As far as I can see, no one, I mean NO ONE has any right buzzing around your house without your consent. If you want to look at my roof or anything else for that matter, just a simple knock on the door to ask permission. Better yet, if I didn't call you...leave me alone! As far as I'm concerned it's an invasion of privacy to do otherwise, and your little drone will be dealt with accordingly. I live out in the county and shoot at least one shot daily at my chosen target. Adding a drone to that target list is as easy as pie! By law, I can't shoot a peeping human, but a drone is fair game in my book!   Dave
  7. An email came to me with his info. Do I need to forward the receipt and voucher number to him? I'm totally lost with this Mac!   Dave
  8. I purchased a "Gift Membership" for a fellow TGO'r  yesterday and was trying to find out what I needed to do to get the "Benefactor" logo to start showing up under his name? It didn't happen automatically like it did mine.   Any help would be appreciated.   Dave
  9. I'm up in the air on this. Part of me thinks it's ok but another part says no. I haven't settled one way or another for sure yet, but I may be leaning to the no side.   Dave
  10. Unless a person just wants the rush of coming face to face with a wild Russian boar to get a shot on a possible trophy of a lifetime, a "meat hog" is the way to go! I will say that coming face to face with a 300 + pound boar snapping his jaws and teeth at you, is an experience you won't forget anytime soon! It's a rush from hell!!!!   And, for a real rush, find you a sow with piglets and chase down and catch one of the little piglets and let it start squeeling like there is no tomorrow. That will test your running skills! Don't ask how I know this...lol   Dave
  11. That's exactly what I'm talking about!!   Dave
  12. Those lodges were established many years ago and obtained exemption from TWRA and from the USDA to continue their breeding and guide hunting services. Yes, they are fenced to contain their hogs. Natural breeding occurs on their property which keeps it stocked. I know a guy here who wanted to open a "pay to hunt" hog facility and his application to TWRA got denied in part due to the new regs.   The only issue I have about those places is if you shoot a trophy boar, more than likely he will stink so bad as you won't want to eat it. That's a lot of money to pay to kill a pig to put his head on the wall. You'll have no choice but to settle for a Taxidermy mount. If they'll let you take a sow or young boar...that's meat in the freezer!   Dave
  13. Sorry you and your friend experienced an accident like that. Also don't worry about standing back while someone else helps. Moral support at times can be powerful medicine to the sick and injured. As far as first aid training goes, basic first aid is a good skill to have. You just never know when it will be needed, as you have learned. Put you a good first aid kit together and keep it handy while on your little camping trips. Always remember that a head wound will bleed like you've never seen!   Don't let all this eat you up my friend, things happen, need to deal with them as they do. Just look after your friend and let him know that you truly care about his injuries and his well being.   Dave

    Drones

Thanks for the info Dol. It's worth a try.   Dave
  15. I think it would work out OK. Get a high end model with good range, and it should work.   Dave
  16. Considering I'd be on my own 180 acres, they better have a pretty good reason for doing so!   Dave
  17. No, this is not a Drone hunting thread! Although I have made it clear I will blast everyone of them out of the air that violates my "no fly zone". I got a crazy idea; I wonder if it would be feasible to use a drone equipped with a camera for some real time deer scouting? Buzz the tree tops and look for deer bedding, feeding ect.. Drones that I have been exposed to are very very quite and barely make a humming noise.   Ideas?   Dave
  18. Sounds promising! Kudus to you for going back!   Dave
  19. Details are kind of sketchy right now, but this news is coming out of Cookeville.   http://www.wkrn.com/story/24612763/church-shooting   Folks, people are getting crazy!!!   Dave
  20. I think I'll buy one for deer scouting and hunting purposes. How cool would that be?   Dave
  21. Sad part about it fellows, if and when the TWRA responds, its bye bye Mr. Deer. He may be stuck in a trap as already mention or he just doesn't feel like running. When it comes to healing after getting hurt, deer are amazing animals! He'll most likely will be just fine.   Then again..."Robo Buck"? We have one that gets used on Crosscreeks and Fort Campbell that moves on rails with moving legs, head, tail, everything!  And yes, he's been shot a bunch!   Dave
  22. I don't blame you at all. I'm looking for a partner or two as well, but I'm looking on TGO and damn sure won't look at Craig's list. No telling what you may end up with!   Dave

    Thanks Mark@sea

I've met many fine people from TGO, and Mark is one of them. I wish I could meet everyone here.   Dave
  24. Maybe...just maybe!   Dave
