  1. It's good are taking her. My grandsons all shoot rossi's and we like them!
  2. Nice doe and good shot!
  3. My personal opinion (and mine only) Only an EXPERIENCED hunter (I'm assuming your talking about deer hunting) should be deer hunting with a .223/5.56. There are better calibers (again, my opinion only) for a child to learn/hunt deer with. A Rossi or NEF Combo would be a good choice in anything BUT .223 for a child! Just my two cents! I hope I didn't open a can of worms! As far as a .22 goes, CRICKETS are great little rifles for children to learn to shoot. If she doesn't like shooting, you ain't out much money!
  4. As it stands as of now, Me and my Daughter will go. I think I can miss a deer hunt for a day! I will at least bring my 1911 and her 7mm/08. I will probably bring more.
  5. I'm going to get out all of my electronic calls and gadgets and get ready to get a few. If I holler "HELP"...somebody come a runnin!
  6. I've run into that here too. Alot of farmers complain about the deer and coyotes, but they end the conversation the same..."well, we really don't allow hunting". I even had one guy tell me he was loosing lambs and chickens to coyotes, and ask if there was a way to get rid of the coyotes, and I said yeah, I'll hunt then. He said no, his wife don't like hunting and he asked if there was any other way to get rid of them. I said "yeah, get rid of the lambs and chickens, and the coyotes will leave". He pretty much didn't like my answer....so be it!
  7. I've called a couple in the past, but I think it was more by accident. I had one within 5 yards of me the other day while deer hunting, but he left nothing but "dust in the wind" we he heard my safety "click off". He was about the biggest and grayest yote I've ever seen. I've never heard them make the "yip'n" noise like they were this morning! They were all doing it like they were being beat with a stick or kill'n something!
  8. Went deer hunting this morning, and while unloading my 4-wheeler, the land owner came out of his house and stared talking to me. He started complaining about the noise the coyotes have been making all night long. While we were standing in the dark at about 6am this morning, about a half dozen (at least it sounded like it) cut loose with some howling and some of the most god aweful "yipping" I've ever heard. The land owner said Dave, I don't care what you do , who you bring with you...but I want those Coyotes gone! Now what do I do....I ain't that good at yote dog hunting.....I guess this old dawg has to hone up some calling skills!
  9. Hunting 101 and Whiskey said it all. I can't think of anything else to say that hasn't been said. I do however Support PETA by donating deer to "hunter's for the hungry" and to my own family! So there PETA and all the "lettuce lovers" out there!
  10. Man, you must have got lucky and got drawn for a quota hunt....I didn't!
  11. That picture has been around the internet for a couple years now. Not real sure where it came from.
  12. He may be squirrel hunting. I enjoy hunting them with my flintlock! Run into some issues at a local refuge last year, so I kinda have to be careful which flintlock I bring squirrel hunting.
  13. Hunting 101; I had a "yote" come within 5 yards of my stand yesterday morning. He was the biggest, grayest coyote I've ever seen. I got him in the crosshairs of by crossbow, snapped off the safety, and I still don't know which way he went. I guess he heard the "click" and left for parts unknown! Never got the shot off! I'll be out there in the morning again....it's going to get personal! lol
  14. Here's how I read your post. Hunting 101 was merily quoting what the law says as to your idea. As crazy as it is....
  15. Well said Hunting 101....you beat me to it!
  16. Conrad...You Da' Man! I love hog hunting with bow. Flintlock rifle is next in Alabama!
  17. Don't forget that to hunt big game on a WMA, a type 094 (non quota big game) permit is required.
  18. Hunter Safety course maybe?
  19. Ya'll kill'n me!
  20. How stupid! Good thing he wasn't trying for a "headshot" with his bow! Sorry folks couldn't resist. All joking aside, BE CAREFUL FOLKS! Hope the gentleman recovers!
  21. Maybe a "shoulder shot" was all he had! Fat doe anyways!
  22. Nice shot my friend....congrats!
  23. I grew up the same way. I was always tought to respect the animal we hunt, and that, that animal deserves to die with dignity and respect. When I run my Taxidermy shop, I've had customers come in with the same kind of attitude. A couple of them was asked to leave and never come back. One guy came in with a beautiful 12 pointer wired to the grill of his truck. Drove all over town like that, pulled into my driveway, and laughed about upsetting my nieghbors! SEE YA DUDE!!!
  24. Hunter safety courses only test for hunter and firearm safety. Too bad we can't give people tests for attitude and moral character BEFORE they are licensed and sent into the woods to do harm to animals and other hunters!
  25. Nice Job!
