  1. Well, I feel well enough to get out and hunt this morning. My son is treating me to a deer hunt. We have alot of does and some boneheads on the property that need thinning. There are plenty of "big boys" running around, but will take whatever gives me a shot. I can't be very picky any more. Will be hunting the thickets on the sides of the ridges and bottoms.
  2. Yes, they do have a "Protocol"....."ANYTIME and ANYPLACE".....They can go places only JEDI's dream of going. Each officer must demonstrate his his/her own level of "smartness"! I know a few Officers around here, that if they can "SEE" you....you're fair game! Oh, and by the way, they can also make "traffic stops". Wonder how I know that?
  3. One of our local WMA's has a hog problem developing. Personel at that location have stated there was no money of personel to deal with the problem. Game Wardens are still trying to figure out what the commission is trying to do. The hog population will be well established by next year!
  4. Non Game animals should not have such strict rules! It's all a big headache!
  5. Ya'll hook me up.....can't beat some good'ol catfish filets! I have the boat, the place and the bait. Just no one to go with!
  6. I believe that will work!
  7. It's all kewl......but why pick on skwerls?
  8. Any deer with a handgun is a good one! Sounds like you otherwise saved a bad hunt! I hope your stew turned out good! Don't forget to share your recipe!!
  9. Thank you all. She is unique to say the least! Fishes, hunts, shoots squirrels with .22, field dresses her own deer, helps cut them up, scouts her own stand sights.....I could go on and on and on, but I won't. This is really helping my healing. She blood trailed the doe about 30 yards into a thicket (it was raining), and dragged it out of the woods. I went down to the house and got the land owner and 4 wheeler, and he helped her load it on the 4 wheeler. They wouldn't let me touch anything. Nothing startled my heart like that rifle shot though!
  10. This was her 4th deer in 4 years, and her first one that I wasn't sitting in a stand with her. Other than the youth hunt this year, she's been in her stand by herself a little at a time off and on. She hunted with muzzleloader by herself and she checked out OK, so I was OK with her sitting by herself on our property today with her rifle. My baby is growing up!
  11. I took this fat doe with muzzleloader last week before I got sick. Just now getting around to post pictures.
  12. Thank you all!
  13. Well, Friday night while I was in the hospital, I tried to make arrangements for my 35 year old son to take my 15 year old daughter deer hunting Saturday morning. My Daughter Kiley, says "Daddy I can't hunt without you, you're in the hospital and sick. It' just wouldn't be the same". It kinda choked me up some. I said OK, you decide. Well, I got out of the hospital Saturday and promised I would do all I could to get her to the woods Sunday (today). I took her, but I didn't have the energy to go in the woods to hunt. So I parked the car and set there while she walked into the woods a short ways (we had our walkie talkies with us). I sat there for a little bit and it came up a downpour of rain. I was about ready to call her and tell her to come back to the car, and all of a sudden her 7mm/08 let out a thunderous crack. Half scared me to death. A short "crackle" in the radio..."I got one Daddy".... She said "it's for you Daddy"....totaly choked me up! So she took this doe....
  14. Semper Fi Brother! I have never used chicken skin for catfishing. I think anything (soap and hot dogs included) will catch them if it "smells" right. Let us all know how it works out. Go to a store that sells candie making supplies and buy some "Anise Oil". That stuff works wonders on catfish!
  15. Seeing deer my friend, been passing on some though. I'm trying to let the grand kids get some of those small bucks. I got a doe last week for some meat on the table. Will start thinning some more here soon.
  16. Thanks Whiskey. Yes I got your number, and Troll's and Adamox2's. I'll give ya'll a call in the near future, as I've been advised not to over do it with things like dragging deers, climbing trees, letting my heart race out of control while calling in big bucks, chase'n women ect ect.....plus, I need someone to open beers for me during my Titans game! Thanks for the offer my friend!
  17. I love "slug" hunting, but I think they do a bit of damage to meat though.
  18. Our quail are disapearing at an alarming rate. I have never seen grouse here, and soon, the quail will be forever gone. A sad situation!
  19. I found a really good thicket on the property I manage. It's full of good trails, rubs and scrapes. I'm going to get above it (if I can with my medical issue), and knock a deer stupid with my scoped Remington Express 12 gauge slug gun!
  20. Thank you Troll. How did your hunt go? I hope you did well!
  21. Thank you all for the well wishes. It means alot coming from ya'll!
  22. It's my first. I need to take better care of myself. Gun Troll and Whiskey ? Now that's a whole "different" subject!
  23. Right now I like to "lay a scent trail" with "doe in heat". Hang some in the trees also ( Female products work well here). Use some soft doe in heat bleats. I would be very careful with "grunting" right now. The smaller bucks that may come in to your bleats might get scared off with a grunt call. Remember, a juvenile buck (some with decent racks) are looking for pleasure from the ladies of the woods, not a fight with an older buck! This has been my experience so far this year.
  24. Well folks, after a much anticipated start to rifle season, I was put in the hospital Thursday morning, and got home this morning. I hope ya'll did well on opening morning. I may hit the woods tomorrow afternoon, but will have to sit on the 4 wheeler or on the ground under a tree. Will just have to see how I feel. Hunting alone is not allowed for awhile. Big Bucks and "Chicks" on the creek bank "drinking Coronas" is out of the question. Not allow to abuse my heart anymore! So little deers it is!
  25. I hope ya get a "big'un"!!!!
