  1. One of our Great Moderators lives in your area (The Hunting Board Moderator). Maybe Shaun will will pipe up, and ya'll two can meet for coffee somewhere. It's much easier that way than typing. If not, I'll start typing or PM you my number and fill your head with knowledge! LOL   Dave S
  2. He was out of work on workmans comp when this happened. I'm sure they'll need something. They are both proud people (and somewhat stubborn) and probably wouldn't admit it if they did need help. Personaly, I'll give them until the 1st to see how they are doing. Maybe we can send something then. I'm pretty sure anything will be helpful. His wife Jackie is practicaly living up there with him. Send what you want, just don't ask them first!! LOL   Dave S
  3. Should I assume you have your hunter safety course? There is alot of information on the web to help you get started. Google "how to hunt deer" and go from there. Try to aviod watching "yahoo's" hunting deer on You Tube. It will only lead to problems.   What is your experience level? Want to hunt with bow? Gun? Muzzleloader? Public land? Private? Give us a little back ground about yourself, and we can all better help you.   Dave S
  4. mental healing is very important!   Dave S
  5. I agree. Don just texted me and will call in a couple hours. I'll keep ya'll updated as I can.   Dave S
  6. Update on Don: he was on a walker for a few feet today and even got to sit in a chair for awhile! YAY! He's still in quite a bit of pain, but he is getting exceptionally good care and his wife was able to get away early to come home for some extra rest and to do laundry (before they charge them extra b/c she said she smelled! LOL!) Again, he and his wife both appreciate all the love and prayers sent in their direction!! For those who have offered help, that is so much appreciated also, but about all that anyone can do is pray for Don's pain to be lessened and to guide his healthcare team's hands. They're in this for the long-haul, and he will need lots of moral support for many weeks to come. Don's next procedure is planned for Friday afternoon. The plan is to remove muscle tissue from his abdomen and transplant it to his leg. Hopefully, at the same time, he will have healed sufficiently so they can do the bone fusion/metal "replacement."   Don was very appreciative of his TGO families well wishes. He said to thank each and every one of you. As soon as he can, he'll get on here.   Thanks again!   Dave S
  7. I like my Bass deep fried with hushpuppies and onion rings! Awesome stuff!   Dave S
  8. I just wanted to put out the information again about the 2nd Amendment rally that we are having on the 29th of March. It will be at 6 p.m. at the Freedon Deli restaurant, which is in Lowe's Plaze off of Wilma Rudolph Blvd. Senator Mark Green will be there to talk about where TN stands in regards to the 2nd Amendment. There will also be a speaker form the Nation Rifle Association. Please come out and help support what so many people have sacrificed to protect. Even if you aren't a gun owner or shooting enthusiast show your support by attending. You just might learn something and you may make some good friends. And I know that you will have some good food if you eat at Freedom Deli. If you like yours spicy then go for the "Smokin Gun" sandwich.     Dave S
  9. Thanks, I'll pass it on.   Dave S
  10. Thanks ya'll. I'll talk to him tomorrow and read your posts to him. I'm sure they will cheer him up.   Dave S
  11. Crappie.com seems kinda complicated to navigate, so I just read TGO instead.   Dave S
  12. Red, I'll pass that on to his Wife. Your offer is generous and greatly appreciated!   Dave S
  13. Steel wool does make a good filler, but we stopped using it when we were setting too many grass fires with it. It's good for a bang though! We don't have any Mortars. The state of Tennessee just donated a carriage for a twelve pound napolean to us, so now we are looking for a Napoleon barrel. Fun Fun!   Dave S
  14. I'll try to find out if I can.   Dave S
  15. Well I'm in Clarksville and Don is in Powell/Claxton area, East Tennessee.   Dave
  16. I agree 100%. It could have been much much worse and Ol' Don knows it. We are all hoping for a full recovery. I am forwarding all of this to him via phone and will talk to him tonight or in the morning. His spirits needs lifted badly right now! Thank you for your reply!   McCrary Family   Dave S.
  17. Thank You, He'll appreciate it!   Dave
  18. I truly sense a "revenge" killing here! This is what Don needs...reasons to smile...Thanks Caster! He'll appreciate the humor!   Dave S

  20. I'll pass it along to Don.   Thank You   Dave S
  21. I have been asked by my friend and TGO member "Timestepper" to pass along the following  information and have withheld some information at Don's and his families request. This past Friday afternoon, an animal was attacking his chickens. Don ran out the back door with a .357 to stop the attack on his birds. We're not sure at this point whether he passed out, tripped, had a seziure or what, but Don suffered a very serious gunshot wound.   He was hit in the ankle with the round and it just short of severed his foot from his leg. The flesh was blown away from his ankle and the ankle bones were (as Don put it)" blown into a thousand pieces".   Don had surjery Friday evening after the accident, and two since then. He is currently in surjery again as I type this. He is scheduled again for reconsructive surjery again on Friday. The Orthopedic Surgeon will see him next week. So far, they have been able to save his foot, and we  hope he keeps improving. When I spoke to him earlier today, he seems to be in pretty good spirits although his prognosis is unknown at this time.   Don's physical injuries are severe, but his mental injuries from this is worse, and we need not rub his face in it! Don (Timestepper) is in need of our prayers and well wishes.   I will relay all well wishes to him as they are recieved from the TGO community. He wishes no visitors at this time as he has unannounced surgeries and doesn't want anyone to drive there and maybe not get to see him. After he gets stablized next week he may start seeing visitors.   He will not be on TGO for a bit, as he recovers. I'll keep ya'll posted on his recovery. I talk to Don a couple times a day, so I will relay messages to him for you if need be.   He and his family hope that you all understand the need for privacy at this time.   Dave S
  22. Peat Moss. Used as a filler and gives you more "bang" for your buck. Gives a good loud BOOM and your cannon will recoil some what with it. When firing "live" ammo, we don't use a filler.   Dave S
  23. Heard some gobble this morning, but didn't see them.   Dave S
  24. Another picture of the 6 Pounder. Loaded with 10 oz BP and 8 oz peat. Purty huh? Lets see some of yours? Dave S
