  1. i thoroughly agree. i actually supported harry brown, now i realize it's gotta be at local and state levels first. i really think if people look at the libertarian party seriously, they'll find they agree with much more than either of the 'big' parties. and i'm one of those who's scared by both obama and mccain. i'm just looking for the lesser of two evils. like always it seems.
  2. I've seen other threads dance around this question, but i want to know, who, if anyone, has had to use their weapon? Drawn? Fired? Hit? I'm wondering because lately I've been training with an ex-ARMY Ranger buddy of mine, learning more than I ever thought possible. I just can't help but think that if something happened, and I couldn't avoid the situation, if I had to draw and fire...what if I froze? I know a BG likely doesn't have the training, but they certainly won't have any moral qualms about shooting me or anyone else. So, does anyone have any advice on preparing for a scenario like that? Or experience? If you've had to fire at a BG, what was the aftermath like? I know the legal possibilities fairly well, but I don't know what would come emotionally. Anyway, I hopefully will never encounter this, but just in case, I'd like to be prepared. Thanks.
  3. agreed. the muslim population, especially the radical islamic segmet of their society, is growing obscenely fast. and yeah, that could very well be us if we don't stand up for our rights. hell, look at what's happened already in the last 200 years with gun laws. then consider how complacent most americans are. our forefathers rebelled against taxation and control by a king far away on principle. look how a government system now taxes us exponentially more, controls us to an absurd degree, and dictates so many aspects of our lives. if americans had the balls and spirit we did in the middle-late 1700s, we would've put a stop to this long ago.
  4. awesome. i'm now leaning toward buying an ak now, since i just bought another pistol, then saving some cash and getting a nicer ar in a couple months. so....any recommendations on AKs? i ran across a guy in clarksville that builds and sells them, if i can remember the site it seemed reasonable.
  5. i'm debating getting another subcompact carry gun (looking at the kel-tec pf-9) or going for a rifle, one of the 'evil assault killer guns', a SHTF gun. the last couple weeks i've been thinking that, considering our potential political situation, i should opt for what's most likely to go up in price or down in availability sooner. i'm thinking that would be something like an ak47 or an ar-15. i really would like one of the higher end ar or m4 clones with all the extras; unfortunately i'm limited to about 600 bucks right now. the way i see it, i could wait and get a nice ar, i could buy an ak now, or i could build one and maybe get the handgun too. i'm also thinking the build process would be interesting and rewarding. i've found several sites dedicated to builds for ak47s and on for the ar15, but nothing that gives me all the info i need in one place. anyone have experience in this area, or advice on the better choice here?
  6. hey everyone. i'm steve, i've been lurking for a bit but now am going to get involved here. i've been a shotgun guy for a while but have been getting into handguns lately, and am hooked. i've currently got two remington 870s, an inherited ~1900 springfield over-under, and now a bersa .380 and a s&w model 638 bodyguard edition. i'm also in the market for a glock 22/23 or a springfield xd. it seems like a pretty good community, and i'm looking forward to being a part of it.
