Earl33 replied to Earl33's topic in Show and Tell
I have a few more I’ll share with the class after I get them back together. But here’s the last one for tonight. My newest deer killing machine. 300 blackout on a SanTan ambidextrous billet lower and billet side charged upper. 9.5”KAK barrel and will made your day very bad at 250 yards throwing 135gr SuperSonic liberators. It will make for a bad day at 300 yards On a 8” plate but it’s starting to push the envelope some. -

Maybe this is in the right spot. Who are the TGO Pre 64 Winchester guys and gals? I have 3 Pre64 model 70 Rifles and And one post 64 Model 70 classic that I picked up at BPS in Springfield, MO in the mid 90s. Wish I’d bought all they had that day. I believe they had promotional sale going on that week for the fall hunting extravaganza. Any/who I looked up the price on my classic and have accually made a little money Or at least haven’t lost any for sure. Back to what I need. I need help figuring out what the 3 pre guns are worth. ( .308 win featherweight- 300HH mag- 264Win Mag.) I know condition is the deciding factor when price is concerned and also separates “Damn that a lot of money” from “Damn I wish I’d taken better care of it”. Thanks in advance and good day!! I will get pictures and numbers for whoever can help figure out what value the rifles hold. For the TGO-OG’s that remember me I’v added to my toy collection and will get some new post up soon.

I got more ammo and headed back to the golf course. This time I aired out the .204 a little. This was at 300 yards zeroed at 100 shooting Fiocchi Extrema 32 grain, VMax factory loads. Roughly 2.5" right and 2.5" low. I had our normal 5-10 mph wind gusting 15. -

Yesterday I had the chance to warm up my .204 barrel. BHW recommends a 60 round break in procedure which involves running a patch down the bore after every 5 shots for a total of 60 rounds. After the 60 round break in, I loaded 5 rounds of Fiocchi Extrema 32 grain V-Max factory ammo in a mag and got the vise out. The pictures speak for themselves. In defense of the barrel, shot #1 was cold barreled and on shot #5 I knew I'd pulled it when the gun went bang (shooters error). All-n-all Im extremely pleased with how the gun turned out. Not only do I have one sexy @ss .204 Ruger, that thing can put your eye out kid.. (Shots taken from 100 yards with 10-15 mph varying crosswinds) -
Thanks y'all... The optic enhanced gas tube is a concept she came up with. I had my doughs but it performed like a dream after we worked the bugs out . She can make her momma run for the hills with that thing when fully loaded.. Time sure is flying by.. She has heard the roar of gunfire since birth and has a steady trigger pull at the age of three.. I hope she's a future Janna Reeves or Tori Nonaka but I'll settle for a doctor if thats what she wants to do.. We have a range date tomorrow to finish the break in on her 10/22 and .204..

Im back!!! Awhile back I trolled around here on a regular basis. I fell out of the loop due to no ones fault but my own. Some may remember me and most wont. For the past 12 years I'v earned my gun money as a Firefighter / A-EMT for The City of Milan. Im married to a wonderful lady that tolerates my addiction for all things that go BANG. I have a 3 y/o daughter that hands down is the true love of my life. Im an avid hunter of all things with a season and enjoy sending hot lead down range accompanied by the smell of gunpowder. My collection of scary black guns that hold unlimited amounts of ammunition has steadily grown over the past year or so to include my latest which is a 18" 6.8 SPC. I currently have another build that is awaiting its BCG and 24" hurricane fluted .204 barrel. My taste in firearms is scattered over a broad spectrum and have a special place in my heart for the pre 64 model 70. Most of my neighbors tolerate me and the others have came to grips with that, calling the law only makes things worse. I pay for my bullets and have the right to practice the fine art of gun control, thats just the way it is. Im looking forward to getting back in the TGO circle where the vast ocean of knowledge has kept me from dying of thrust on more than one occasion..

I finally finished my Lower a few weeks ago. And pierced this ones ear at 35 yards w/ MBUS flip up sights. This one took a heart shot at 28 yards. Saw 3 squirrels took 4 shots. Guess I'm a 50% shooter.

Thanksgiving morning I got an 148# 8 pt and a doe Friday And a 132# 10 pt on Sat. All shot in bow range with a SR 762.

A Great Thanksgiving Day. I am thankful for god family and friends. And very thankful that all three made today possible. I took the opportunity to sit in the stand with this young man and watch him shoot an AR for the first, well two times. Y'all may be thinking, look at the smile on that kids face. Well you should had seen the smile on mine. We needed this hunt on film. He was given the choice of 5.56 or the 7.62. He was adamant about the .308.

DRT 55gr Terminal Shock. Penetrating frangible. 75yrd. -
Added a Blackhawk pivot and traverse bipod and Magpul ACS-L stock.

Thanks. I was reading a thread the other day about barrel length vs caliber on this rifle. It was a back and forth about the effect barrel length has on long range shooting and the added weight of a 7.62 carbine for practical use compared to a small frame AR. I think you hit the nail on its head. The SR762 would makes for a nice DMR. I'm ready to see how well I pair with it at 400-500 yards.

The gentleman I spoke with was helpful. But when I asked if the mags that came with the rifle were Gen3 (not knowing myself due to never seeing any 762 NATO mags), he said yes. After receiving the Gen3's I had on order it was apparent that they aren't. He may not have understood what I was asking . I bought a box of Hornady Match, 168 grain HPBT and put a few down range yesterday. 4 shot group (the two holes with sticks in them are from my .22 lr), 100 yards, wind not a factor, prone using a forward grip with pop out bipod. Again not world class shooting but I was happy with it. I still need to put more down range with added distance. But with today's weather and me getting a new ACL tomorrow that's gonna have to wait.

I talked to Ruger this morning, very nice folks. I sent a few pictures talked with him a bit then came out to the cave. I disassembled the stock, buffer, blah, blah. Did some checking and rechecking. The aftermarket stock tube is not the correct one for the rifle. It's was like a lot of thing in life, short. The bolt wound indeed lock back and cycle making the gun operable but wouldn't cycle to catch the bolt face after last round. In the shop the BHO was catching on the bolt carrier instead of the bolt face (shame on me). This all came to light yesterday evening while doing a little distance test. This is at 160 yards propped off my 4 wheeler rack. I need to stop buying ammo and invest in a good vise. But when stuff gets deep your not gonna go running for your vise I don't guess. All in all, the gun was an error on my part for not double checking.

Not worth a shit if the bolt hold open don't hold the bolt behind the case when loading or reloading.
