3. Thanks, my first handgun. I sent to S&W and found out it was made in '53. I keep it put up now, and take it out to look at every once and a while. Here's my target from qualifying.

A woman asks her mate if he wants to go to the store. He says no, she gets mad. He asks whys she is mad. You said you wouldn't go to the store. You didn't ask me whether I would or not, you asked me if I wanted to. If you asked me to do it for you, I would.

He left after telling her that didn't seem fair. He journeyed to others, hearing much the same. He finally found one where they told him the house took only 10%. He pulled out his money and said, "I'd like that cute, young redhead in the white neglige". "Most would", said the madam,"But Thelma has been here 35 years, she has seniority, so she's next".
  7. 1. Yeah big O, I'm surrounded. Should I tell them how bright, clean and articulate I think you are?

  10. I usually carry a CZ 75B, cocked and locked. However, if I carry a striker fired handgun, thumb sweeping the safety that isn't there causes no ill effect.

  12.
Eddy's is actually a real brand owned by Hostess. Seems to be a western regional brand of bread and cakes and stuff. Goes back a long way before Hostess, lots of antique signs and stuff found for it. Don't know who the "they" is that reported it but perhaps they were idiots who didn't know the difference between Edy's and Eddy's. - OS
Dang, I like Holsum bread. Good price and good bread.
  13.
Probably be bought by a Chinese company and filled with propylene glycol cream and coated in lead frosting with a radioactive package to seal in the flavor.
And melmac powder.
  14.
Oh. My uncle shot a guy in a justified shoot about 15 years ago. Once to the gut and twice to the pelvis. He stopped.
If he stopped, then it worked.
  15.
Jonnin, are you in a different club and location than the ORSA? If so, what is the name and shooting location? I would like to check out both and see what they are like. I have an older 9mm Ruger P89 that I purchased for home defense, so that would be the gun that I would start with. I would need to get an extra mag or two, since I only have two but if the competitions are as interesting as they look, I would upgrade when possible. BrasilNuts / 2Alpha, I will try to come out to Oak Ridge on Saturday and see what it is like but I don't know if I would shoot. What about weather? Do you cancel if it rains? I could risk a drive to Oak Ridge (20 miles) if the weather is questionable but if one of the clubs is in Chattanooga (110 miles) that may be a little far to go. Thanks for information and the help.
Only thing that I have seen to stop an ORSA match is lightning. I have shot in the rain, and matches have been held with snow on the ground, although it was a small turnout. You will need at least three mags, but I bring more to cut down on reloading time. I get my holsters/magazines on-line generally, Midway and Cheaper Than Dirt are only a couple days away shipping wise. John is good about scheduling classifiers. You do not have to join IDPA to shoot your first match, but if you decide to join, http://www.idpa.com/.
  16.
Define "doesn't work".
In the middle of editing. Doesn't work means that the threat was not stopped.
  17.
The first option should be center mass. Its the best and largest target. If the threat fails to stop, your next target is the pelvic region. Splitting the pelvic girdle will take away the threat's mobility and there are several large arteries in that area. If the threat still doesn't stop, your last option is the head. And when we're talking about the head we're really talking about an upside down triangle that goes from the eyes to the nose. That's it. The forehead is very hard and has been know to deflect bullets because of the slope. From the cheekbones down is also a poor choice because there are no vital targets in that area. So to sum up: 4 to 6 center mass, 4 to 6 pelvis and if you don't get compliance after that, you have to make a precise shot to the eyes/nose area. This all was from the class I took from Tiger McKee.
I wouldn't waste ammo on the pelvis. Taking a chance on hitting an artery? No. If the chest doesn't work, go for the head. That's what Cruel Hand Luke told us this past weekend.
  18.
Wow, I feel sorry for some of you. Once my neighbor asked me to come over and take care of his pool, drink beer and use his pool while he was on vacation. It was a real PITA but someone had to do it! 19.
Heres a heart warming neighbor story from yesterday. Lawn company cuts her grass, blows a four foot pile of leaves from her yard into mine. (I have no trees.) Yes, I blow them back. She comes out and yells at me, " I paid to have those blow there!) Me> " What?!" I feel your pain.
You have no trees but you have a leaf blower? Good job!!
