  1. Got this the other day, promotional knife for extra donation to NRA-ILA back in November. It's a "Stone River". Made in China. Stone River "makes" kitchen cutlery. Only one hunting knife on their site, and it's not this one. Anyway, it actually seems to be pretty dang solid slasher, 4" blade, truly is just about razor sharp, seems to be full tang, at least up to lanyard hole. Rubbery handle really feels great. Sheath sucks though, plastic insert thing in nylon, doesn't even fit it snugly. - OS
  2. Maybe you better jump on an AK or AR if you're really concerned about that aspect of it. Or at least just a hicap pistola. I think O will let you buy a 5 shot snubbie for quite some time. But congrats for jumping in, regardless of what weapon is first! - OS
  3. Right. They are "branded" by Taylor Brands in Kingsport. Is there an echo in here? - OS
  4. How do these thieves do that? You have to know PIN on a debit card, yes? - OS
  5. At my last (really LAST, I hope) employment gig, I looked into getting a shirt with COF emblazoned on it, after a young manager I had taken to task called me a "Crusty Old Fart". I considered it a compliment. Incidentally, Taylor Brands doesn't really "make" the knives either, although they are in Kingsport! They also don't "make" Shrade. - OS
  6. I actually happen to have that exact knife during my experimentation with neck knives before settling in on Cold Steel. It says "China" right on the blade, I'm sure yours does too. Box says "Taylor Brands LLC / Made in China / Official Licensee of Smith & Wesson Corp. / Manufactured by Taylor Brands, LLC" I assure you, Smith and Wesson does NOT make knives...or motorcycles, Harley doesn't make knives, or guns - OS
  7. There is no mention of holsters at all in TN HCP statutes. I suppose you could duct tape a gun to your leg if you wanted to. - OS
  8. I fail to see how a pistol could prevent death from drug cocktail overdose? - OS
  9. Well okay, but they don't make knives. Nor does S&W. - OS
  10. Have seen that some airlines specify ammo has to be "in the original box" or somesuch, so you might consider that as your TSA approved "...in fiber (such as cardboard), wood or metal boxes or other packaging that is specifically designed to carry small amounts of ammunition." - OS
  11. Well, if they actually made it here, they could sell it here. Heck, regular size Glocks only barely make the points "cut". I've read here and there that Glock is making or having made more of their frames in the US now, though? - OS
  12. I guess because they aren't tooled up to fully produce any handgun in the US. Why? Dunno. Must have something to do with profit margin being higher with their current import strategy. And of course they can't sell the .380 here that they do abroad. - OS
  13. Look, the interstate is the interstate. Federal highway. Nobody is gonna charge you with carrying a weapon while in a national forest if pulled over on the interstate. Really. If this were a real possibility, it would be known and publicized. In addition, federal firearm law allows you to transport firearms from one legal place to another legal place, whether you have a handgun carry permit or not. Only difference is whether you can have it on you and/or loaded or not. No permit, neither long guns or handguns can be loaded. With permit, only handguns can be loaded. Relax, and carry on with your normal business and (safe and legal) driving behavior. - OS
  14. Was my first thought too. It's a one use only...slit the side to dump and recycle. (it's somewhere in the fine print) - OS
  15. Kind of interesting, up to 100 gallons of quick water storage. Of course, you'd need to have a little warning that you're gonna lose water, or that water would be contaminated, but still, for $20, thinking about getting one myself... http://www.waterbob.com
  16. Big deal, carrying a 4" blade. Fool with me and I'll whip this baby out and simply chop you to pieces! http://www.uncrate.com/men/gear/outdoor/gerber-kick-axe/
  17. Count me in on WTF x 2! I've seen stranger things, but not in a while. - OS
  18. Oh Shoot

    Ruger 10/22

It's cool AFAIK, but you should also post in the Want to Buy section. (the 30 day/50 post thing doesn't apply there). Some folks peruse that section but not necessarily every other one. - OS
  19. For the eventuality of .. "being a passenger in a vehicle with others in a work situation and arriving at a posted no weapons allowed location not knowing the prohibition previously" ?? - OS
  20. You lost me. Saying carrying in a maxpediton is not really carrying? - OS
  21. Well, all words are "learned". ?? The major ones through UT Knoxville have traffic meters and standard city placed directional, no parking, and other signs, and city traffic lights. Also, cars are ticketed by Knoxville meter maids. And when the streets are worked on, standard city crews are doing it, not state DOT. So I'm assuming they are all City of Knoxville streets, although I don't have any kind of ownership record to refer to. - OS
  22. We crack ourselves up, no doubt about that. (I might post one, one of these days, been meaning to do some product reviews). - OS
  23. Tangential to the roads discussion and the school carry, is that fact that the car navigable streets running through universities are not university property, either. Meaning, I have the right to walk on a Knoxville street, packing. - OS
