I know this new model uses new "anti sand" 17 round mags, but unclear as to whether it's compatible with standard 92FS/M9 15 and 17 round mags also? Rather significant if one already have a stash of them. - OS

It's hard to know how the new two year budget deal and the upcoming omnibus bill as to allocation of the funds will affect this. Supposedly no "poison pill" riders will be allowed. The biggest one always mentioned is defunding Planned Parenthood, dunno if something as small as the 1911 distribution would be considered that or not. Meaning, it's unclear to me if NDAA still has to be specifically renewed as a separate issue under these new provisions or not? - OS

Took him about 9 billion years to get around to Earth and anatomically modern man has only been around the last 4% of its history, so he surely did take his own sweet time. And likely regrets doing that homo sapiens part at all. :) - OS

Yep, now. Mainly because I don't buy his grief and shock turning into killing every innocent person he came across, the PTSD excuse notwithstanding. And then to go the other extreme and kill nothing human. Both extremes are full tilt bozo under both sets of circumstances. - OS

It's the guy Morgan fought inside the house, toward the end of previous episode, same guy he had a conversation with last year around the fire before whupping him then. Most people thought Morgan had killed him last week, when he said "I'm sorry" just before the his final blow. - OS

Just a note, the "Here's Not Here" episode tonight is 90 minutes, in case that matters to you folks who record it or whatever. - OS

Woe be unto you if you give Frontier Firearms negative feedback

Anybody contacted whatshisname regarding this thread? (Hoping for a repeat of the hilarity that ensued). Or did he get banned over it? - OS -
Only been 14 months since the Gallatin plant broke ground. Is it actually humming yet? - OS

I have a question for everyone.
Oh Shoot replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Had one in my youth, couple more in my 30's that were given to us (ready to cook). Was okay. Like a leaner chicken. Seriously, I think more people don't raise 'em anymore just because of the noise. Or maybe because their neighbors talk them out of it. Because of the noise. :) - OS -

I'd predict that if you don't have that like-minded group before the balloon goes up, you ain't gonna put it together afterward in any kind of area more dense than small isolated suburbs. At least not for a good little while until the first round of survivors may gravitate toward each other. More pertinent is, how will you (meaning each of us) handle it? How many folks do you know within say a the first half mile radius? How many have even food and water stashed for a month? And of those, how many do you trust? What happens first time there's a couple of them on your steps begging? Or 10, or 50? Or past begging, demanding, after they've eaten their dogs and are sick from drinking bad water? Etc. - OS -

Yes, they are very loud. And will alert you to everything. Like a branch falling in the woods, a car door slamming half a mile away, the wind blowing, whatever. Or anytime one gets separated from the others. My prediction: you'll eat them all within a month. ;) On that note, my great grandmother claimed they can have a gamy taste if they die when alarmed. So she used to sneak up behind one with hedge shears when it was due for the pot. :) :) - OS -
Has anyone seen a "living" armadillo in Tennessee?
Oh Shoot replied to K191145's topic in General Chat
They weren't included in the "Hoover Hog" group for nuthin. - OS -
You'd need a military coup to get him in the office though, cause the voters won't do it. - OS

This thread dedicated to all the folks who claim it doesn't matter who is elected. The NFA, GCA, AWB etc dedicated specifically to gun owners who say the same. - OS

Carry Permit while on Probation
Oh Shoot replied to Pete123's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Depends on nature and level of crime. Few non-violent ones probably have firearm possession proscribed. DUI is probably the most common Class A 'meanor conviction in TN -- first time convictions have the 11/29 probation, and firearm possession isn't ever an issue with that. - OS -
Those are completely arbitrary, based on some worst case projection for durability of the container, and "best freshness", based on some insurance standard or whatever I'm sure. As long as air doesn't get into the can, it's safe. I had some big cans of chili that got stashed and forgotten once, well over 5 years old. Was fine. Tasted same as ones bought yesterday. Home canned is same. Long as seal is intact, not sure there really is a practical limit, at least as far as the safety of eating it. - OS

Carry Permit while on Probation
Oh Shoot replied to Pete123's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Statement from that source is incorrect, see my other post. Voluntary treatment is not grounds for denial. From TNDOS FAQ: Have you ever been adjudicated as a mental defective or have you been committed to or hospitalized in a mental institution? "Under 2009 Public Chapter 578, effective January 1, 2010, the applicant should answer ‘yes’ if he or she has been judicially committed to or hospitalized in a mental institution pursuant to title 33 (otherwise known as ‘involuntary commitment’). An applicant who was voluntarily committed is legally able to answer ‘no’ to Questions 13(A). A person who was judicially/involuntarily committed and who answers ‘no’ to Question 13(A) is making a false statement under penalty of perjury." - OS -
Carry Permit while on Probation
Oh Shoot replied to Pete123's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
That one is incorrectly stated. It's two or more within last 10 years only and that at least one of those was within last 5. So is that one. "Shall not have been adjudicated as mental defective; has not been committed to or hospitalized in a mental institution; has not had a court appoint a conservator for the applicant by reason of a mental defect; has not been judicially determined to be disabled by reason of a mental illness, development disability or other mental incapacity; and has not, within seven (7) years from the date of application, been found by a court to pose an immediate substantial likelihood of serious harm, as defined in Title 33, Chapter 6, Part 5, because of mental illnes" I don't think I'd use that law firm myself. - OS -
You gotta be kidding. Canned stuff, whether commercial or home, can last indefinitely. A can of tuna, green beans, whatever, is gonna taste pretty much the same after 5, 10 years, longer, whatever. Long as it doesn't develop a pin hole or something to spoil, it's gonna be okay. - OS

Biggest damage seems to be to grilles and headlights as they are apt to jump straight up when started .. like just before the thud. - OS -
Cook's entry on TBI 10 Most Wanted now says "Resolved". :) - OS

Couple of pre-order places had it at $880. It'll probably settle down to 800 or less after a while. Probably a good bit less once initial demand is met. Hell, a regular 92FS in stainless is seven bills. - OS

They've really shown nothing but class with the dramatics so far, so would seem to be very much a wild departure to pull a typical old 50's style serial cliffhanger like this on us -- so I still figure Glenn is really a goner. Could be wrong of course, and that that were seduced by the amount of buzz they knew such a thing would generate, but poo on them if so. Admittedly, I'm pretty sure I will too. One thing to likely consider in real world production of these things though -- though wildly popular and commanding top ad bucks, there still is a budgetary component to the endeavor as a whole. And as characters last through multiple seasons and become more popular, they demand more bucks too. It doesn't seem that Yeun's career was exactly catching fire aside from TWD, but nonetheless, there's probably only so much salary that can be allocated to the mainstays who are almost certainly making beau coup more than what they were contracted for way back in the first and second seasons. So it could be an actual budgetary necessity to whack a biggie now and then and write around that. - OS

All these scenarios posted so far still don't absolve the "dramatic cheap shot" smell test for me though. - OS

I've not had any personal probs with them, but I found the "now you see it, now you don't" nature of their .22 stuff pretty off putting, back when I was looking. Would appear off and on any number of times just within one day. Also the "back door" shopping cart hack they didn't fix for a good while. All of this seems to be due to sub par inventory and ordering IT stuff, and sounds like it's still a problem. Larry touts their sooper dooper shipping system upgrade, but sounds like a few bucks ought to have been put into better real time inventory control. - OS
