  1. Went to Wally's/Sam's at Gallagher View today...although not out in regular glass shelf, feller did have 10 boxes of Blazer Brass 9mm. I was a super nice guy (as always of course) and only bought 5 of them, and some 12 ga slugs for under $4 per box of 5. Continuing the never ceasing stock up thing. Also spent extra $100 at Sam's on canned/dried stuff -- want to get at least a couple month's worth of grub stashed, too. or not, you be the judge.... - OS
  2. Hey, John...love that avatar from President's Analyst... Hey, looks like I'll be there meeting Mike.357 and maybe Suntzu about 1. I'll wear my FedEx Ground (emeritus) jacket, so if any of y'all see me, introduce yer own selfs. - OS
  3. Cool indeed. I can't fault that logic! - OS
  4. Does that mean, a 2lb+ gun with no belt? - OS
  5. All 870 18.5" barrels are "cylinder choke", AFAIK. Of course, "cylinder choke" means "no choke", eh? - OS
  6. Gorillas against Marshal(l)s. Sounds like a fair fight to me! - OS
  7. Dang. You using that sandpapery skateboard tape? - OS
  8. From what I see on site and quick look at Wiki, that's actually fellow named Bruce Stern's collection, often attributed to Heston? - OS
  9. Congrats, carry on <chortle>. - OS
  10. Well, I guess that's true enough, in some states. But TN does prohibit it. Also county parks and city parks. - OS
  11. Wowie...well, you didn't get hurt and gun replaced, so that's about as good an outcome from a bad event that could be...from my limited knowledge of cartridge loading, I believe there is more unused capacity in a .357 case than in most other calibers, at least with the higher density of most modern powders, so overcharging would seem to be a distinct possibility. But assuming a great deal of automation from these big ammo makers, you'd think there would have been more than just one stray round like that. But truly fortunate that you didn't have to get a free prosthetic hand!! - OS
  12. Dang, man...if you've been doing well selling real estate in the last couple of years, what are you worrying about? You could sell ice cubes to Eskimos! - OS
  13. All deeply felt and well said, Mike... This may seem like a "less to lose" copout in a sense, but: older single farts like me just might be among "their" worst-case scenarios. - OS
  14. Yeah, and Congress is gonna remove term limits for president so Obama can be king. And Obama just revoked National Park carry. And Obama openly shows AWB on agenda on his website. How come these aren't being talked about? - OS
  15. Biggest failing of original founding fathers was not to write term limits in. They didn't, because as you intimate, the idea of the "career politician" never entered their minds. - OS
  16. I'm assuming you know the actual process for the Constitution to be amended or have an amendment repealed? Prez/Congress alone can't do it. Actually, if I recall correctly, the Prez doesn't even have a chance to approve or veto. - OS
  17. Holy Crap! I've shot several boxes of that in my Ruger SP101. That's a scary friggin thought... What was the actual reason? It was way overcharged load or what? To OP: I've shot several hundred rounds of the alum cased Blazer 9mm through Kahr and XDs, no probs. - OS
  18. Well, I actually did know the term "best gun", but I was unaware that was actually written on the gun itself, at least in prominent letters. My apologies for apparently rash and wrong advice. Although, assuming this is the case, there should still be an actual manufacturer's name on it, too, as you suggest. - OS
  19. I don't do it with either of my XD 9's. Just feels too "forced". Although I haven't really read anything on XDtalk that claimed it causes a jam, or hurts springs or anything. 'Course, I also don't use .40 mags in my 9mm either, like some do. Guess I'm just a weenie... - OS
  20. HoooKaaay...thanks guys for the info on these "foreign" guns. Sounds like Glock is really missing out by not having a production facility stateside, then. - OS
  21. Guys, it ain't just O, ya know. That stuff is in the Democratic Party platform almost verbatim: "We will help break the cycle of domestic violence by punishing offenders and standing with victims. We will protect Americans' Second Amendment right to own firearms, and we will keep guns out of the hands of criminals and terrorists by fighting gun crime, reauthorizing the assault weapons ban, and closing the gun show loophole, as President Bush proposed and failed to do." That was in the party platform before O even got the nomination. It doesn't help matters any, but we'd probably be looking at a similar battle with any Dem elected. I haven't compared their voting records, but I'd say Hildebeast's is similar. Especially since her hubby pushed the first ban, eh? Point is, this is not just one guy's personal crusade. And the win/lose on any of this is gonna be determined in Congress and not in the White House. I wouldn't bet the farm, but I agree with a lot of folks that there's just too much awfulness to go around right now for the Dems to take on something this divisive. In two years, maybe a better showing of GOP on the hill. And maybe in four, there won't even be a Dem at the helm. I don't really have a point, I guess, except that ranting may make one feel better, but steady pressure on your reps and senators is about the only (hopefully) effective recourse. Or, I suppose we could get 100,000 folks with EBRs in hand to stage a march in DC - which would probably get a new AWB enacted almost overnight, with 75% or better support from all Americans, too. - OS
