Well, assuming that your interpretation of residency is correct (seems reasonable to me) and looking at the rules, certainly seems to me you'd be legal to carry here. You can tell the next LEO who stops you that I said so. Mr. Patrick Stegall, Esq., a moderator in this forum, hopefully will respond soon. - OS

Well, the company name/caliber engraving looks very similar, although I can't can't quite make it out.. Here's OP's original pic, bright/contrast boosted: Here's .22LR model from NAA site. Engraving not exactly the same, but same layout. Maybe just older NAA model, dunno.

Well, you can for 6 months: "If a person with a handgun permit from another state decides to become a resident of Tennessee, such person must obtain a Tennessee handgun permit within six (6) months of establishing residency in Tennessee." Are you a TN resident by virtue of attending college here only? What if you go back to your home state every summer? Do you legally change residency twice a year? I admit I have no idea. Oh, Patriiiiiccckkk! - OS

Yep...they had at least 5 of the 995's, and maybe a whole bunch, dunno. They had them at the previous month's show, too. In case any of you west TN folks want to look into one: T&T Sporting Goods Justin Tull, Owner 3171 Hwy 64 West Selmer, TN 38375 731-645-9922 877-645-9922 Ah, you noticed that too, eh? - OS

I was FedEx Ground guy during my last gig, maybe as close as you'll get here. NOBODY can ship handguns with Ground service, but both individuals and dealers can with Express - individual can only ship to FFL (see highlighted section). From FedEx Service Guide, page 142, current 1/5/09: A. FedEx Express will transport and deliver firearms as defined by the United States Gun Control Act of 1968, between areas served in the U.S., but only between: 1. Licensed importers; licensed manufacturers; licensed dealers; licensed collectors; law enforcement agencies of the U.S. or any department or agency thereof; and law enforcement agencies of any state or any department, agency or political subdivisions thereof; or 2. Where not prohibited by local, state and federal law, from individuals to licensed importers, licensed manufacturers or licensed dealers (and return of same). B. If your shipment contains firearms, select the Direct Signature Required or Adult Signature Required Delivery Signature Option, depending on the requirements of your shipment. See the Delivery Signature Options section for details. Firearms shipments are not eligible for signature release or indirect delivery. C. Firearms must be shipped via FedEx Priority Overnight service. FedEx Express cannot ship or deliver firearms C.O.D. Firearms shipments cannot be placed in a FedEx Express Drop Box. D. Upon presenting the package for shipment, the person tendering the shipment to FedEx Express is required to notify FedEx Express that the package contains a firearm. The outside of the package must not be marked, labeled or otherwise identify that the package contains a firearm. E. The shipper and recipient must be of legal age as identified by applicable law. F. The shipper and recipient are required to comply with all applicable government regulations and laws, including those pertaining to labeling. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives can provide assistance. G. FedEx Express will transport ammunition when packed and labeled in compliance with local, state and federal law, and the Dangerous Goods section of this Service Guide. Ammunition is an explosive and must be shipped separately as dangerous goods. You agree not to ship loaded firearms or firearms with ammunition in the same package. http://images.fedex.com/us/services/pdf/Service_Guide_2009.pdf -
If you're just gonna piss off an intruder with .410, why not just use a .22 for even less recoil (and probably the same or greater effectiveness)? - OS

These folks at the show were out of Selmer, way west of you, I'm afraid... - OS

Classic paddle goes inside pants, holster is outside. Paddle design is so you can take whole rig off easily without having to unbuckle anything... I've also seen a "paddle" that belt goes through, and holster unsnaps from the paddle, so I guess there are at least two designs of "paddle" holsters. - OS

Nope, not right. Usually 6-7 days after "issued" to "in hand". Better call back. - OS

CCW= Concealed Carry Weapon Concealed carry only. HCP=Handgun Carry Permit, what is issued in TN. With it, you can carry concealed OR openly. - OS

Well, you're young yet... - OS -
Welcome to TGO! (I generally can't keep up with the new members forum)... You've chosen a fine dependable shootin iron fer sure there... Guess Knoxville is closest to you there in Rutledge... Here's a user compiled onsite list of HCP schools to get you started looking: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12664 I did mine at Coal Creek Armory, Saturdays only. - OS

NAA only makes .22 models as revolvers, if that's what you mean. - OS

I admit, unlike with a Glock, you really do have to over-achieve to shoot yer ass off while reholstering with an XD. The likelihood of the grip safety failing is about the same as that happening to a 1911, ie nil. - OS

America doesn't have enough Marshals to do it. - OS

Well, heck, that's great. I guess I must be too "oval"...I'd have to tighten a drawstring enough to cut off circulation to my entire bottom half! But goody for you, great solution... - OS

No way to know. Continued erosion of living standards over 50 years could be a reasonable estimate. Or we could lose billions of us in the next 5-10. Science is really our only hope, but generally, scientific breakthroughs are too expensive in the short term to benefit the masses. Indeed, the efficiency and automation of modern production is one of the reasons that human life is decreasing in economic value, as it takes fewer of us to create more product each year, yet there are increasingly fewer people who can afford that product. So people become less "valuable" as both producers AND consumers. But the core components remain food, water, and fuel. These may well become as scarce due to distribution problems based on failing regional economies as from actual shortages of the substances themselves. - OS

You aren't wrong, except maybe for the reasons for the collapse. The makeup of US Government just really doesn't matter in the long run. Somewhere around the birth of our 5 billionth humanoid, the die was cast. We're due for a big kill off. Has to happen, upside down pyramids can't teeter forever. It's really an environmental issue, but will be translated into and seen as economics. We've overdriven the planet's resources by far, and of course the American environmental footprint, both individually and collectively, is the largest on earth. I'd venture that a mere depression comparable to the 30's would snuff about 20% of US population over 5-7 years, but that's still not enough fleas for the earth to shrug off, so I'd expect it to be significantly worse than that, and world wide too, of course. I don't know if national boundaries will change much, but the population density within those boundaries certainly will. Is this the beginning of it? No way to know. But it will probably look quite similar at the onset to what we're seeing now. - OS

Just those males with Glocks. - OS

Yeah, if you don't mind the wait, I think you'll be pleased. I've read rave after rave on DefensiveCarry re his stuff. I emailed him once, asking about the extra piece of leather on the Thunderbird, mainly concerned more with thickness than whether the mouth stays open or not. He said that although that piece only adds 1/16" to thickness, he'd be happy to make it without it. - OS

Says at bottom of defender pages (both IWB and OWB) 14-16 weeks. Not short, but not 6 months either... I know Kevin gets rave reviews. If I hadn't locked into Bullard early on, that Thunderbird sure is nice for a combo IWB/OWB, looks really good for both. - OS

Well, I guess so! They must have made typo, but honored it anyway. Congrats on a real score! - OS

Glock is number 10 on the list. - OS edit: you're all over this, Brandon!

Well, they put XD well above the Glock, so at least they got that part right. :stir: - OS
