    XD Re-Finish

Hard to believe you'd get that kind of wear in only a few months, unless you had a Kydex holster laminated with sandpaper on the inside. At any rate, Springfield is really good about refinishing in Melonite under warranty if there's the least chance the finish was substandard and maybe even if it was not. - OS
  2. Ah, that explains my constant state of confusion. - OS
  3. Yeah, I just ordered some 9mm from them... One oddity was that I found some that were "unavailable" in 100 round counts, but the same loads were available in 50 and/or 500/1000 round counts. I guess they already have them packaged up and won't rearrange or something. - OS
  4. If that's a Class A misdemeanor, and the person is convicted, he loses permit until sentence (including probation) is completed. That's the only actual exact reason I can see right off that might apply in: 39-17-1352. Suspension or revocation of license. Although there is perhaps a "catch all" where permit can be revoked if the person "Poses a material likelihood of risk of harm to the public". Dunno about that... - OS
  5. NRA has its warts, but it's really the only game in town - indeed, it's one of the most powerful lobbies period. Gun legislation both overall in the US and even state by state, would almost certainly be MUCH more restrictive without it. - OS
  6. Idea is to keep it sealed and clean for a month or so. Water sitting in a tub would tend to get kinda funky after a couple of weeks. If it doesn't leak out. - OS
  7. Actually, if you want to get free multi-tool when you join, use this: http://www.insureyourgunrights.com/ Also a NRA site, and the one in the NRA enclosure with many new guns. (not a freebie membership, though). - OS
  8. Yeah, especially if you walk a lot. I just don't have any more room on bod: XD IWB, extra mag, multi-tool, flashlight in left pocket, wallet and main knife in left back pocket, keys w/knife and flashlight, magnifier, eyedrops in right pocket, comb and "2nd" wallet in right back pocket, neck knife, cellphone on belt. Reading glasses around neck, pen and Sana clipped to collar, watch on wrist. Whew! That's a LOT of stuff, but I need it all! - OS
  9. To and fro from where? I consider downtown Knoxville as pretty safe overall...I walk around in much much "questionable" areas than downtown with minimal worry. Folks that drive most everywhere generally feel more at risk on foot than those who walk more extensively, I've always felt. - OS
  10. Well, unless that ammo was out of spec, which I doubt, then something isn't right. FMJ should be the most forgiving, plus that's what you need to carry in .380 anyway (a full load FMJ of some sort, I mean, not target load). - OS

    Sig P238 .380

Well, it's heavier, thicker, and longer than a Kahr or Kel-Tec .380. Matter of fact, it's actually almost exactly same size as a Kahr PM9mm, and that is, well, 9mm. Just my initial take, - OS
  12. However, it really sucks at being a .45. - OS
  13. Them tree rats and ground rats are purty good, but pale in comparison to a nice whistle pig - that's really some fine eatin'. - OS
  14. Turkey Creek WalMart DOES indeed carry ammo. Just like all the other Wallies, if you're there shortly after stocking, you can score. I bought 1000 rounds of 9mm Blazer there about a month ago, yet have been there twice since and found NO 9mm (or .38, or .22 in bulk, or 00 buck, or ...) - OS
  15. handgunlaw.us seems to keep a good finger on the pulse. or you can trust where your taxes go at TNDOS HCP site. - OS
  16. Hey, you've obviously never been a pro. - OS
  17. I don't think that's nearly enough gun for mall denizens. - OS
  18. To trust a weapon for self defense, I want a gun that is reliable right out of the box, without additional modification or expense. Having done extensive research on it, I admit I was willing to give my Kahr a couple hundred rounds of break in before counting on it, but even it performed flawlessly from the gitgo. And of course my XDs were 100% from the outset, didn't even clean them before the first 100 rounds. I'm not a gun snob in general (I own a High Point and may buy a second one) but am quite particular about what I walk around with. - OS
  19. Can't disregard an authority like that; he lives in Texas and his favorite movie is The Sound of Music, and listens to Barbara Streisand. And did you actually READ his review?: "Now, as an owner, I'm an expert on why you don't want this gun. In the first 84 rounds, there were 8 failures to feed - exactly the complaint that's been leveled at this model, which I discovered after the fact. You can find heated arguments all over the internet about whether or not there is any substance to the claim that PT1911's have feeding problems, but I have lived it. This happened in both factory magazines with two different Remington factory loads, one of which was the time-honored 230-grain hardball GI load that chambers like quicksilver in most 1911s, so no alibi there. ANY failure to feed is the kiss of death for a defense gun. Ten percent makes me sick! Yes, I could try different kinds of ammo and hopefully one or two will be flawless, but my confidence is now shaken." - OS
  20. My man David Bullard has both IWB and OWB options for Mill Pro: http://dmbullardleather.com -OS
  21. $20 for 500 packs at Dick's comes out to 'bout same price per thousand, though. And they actually had a bunch the other day, 3 diff brands. - OS
  22. $39 shipping for one case $80 for two cases... too much, and more than USPS actual weight charge... - OS
  23. Well, they sure didn't suffer any. - OS
